Samsung Galaxy S21 might come without a MicroSD slot: Reason

Samsung, the South Korean manufacturer, is one of the biggest smartphone OEM in the world currently. One of their new devices, Samsung Galaxy S21, is scheduled to launch after just two weeks. In the recent few days, you must have come across a few leaks telling something or other about the smartphone to you. We have another such news before the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S21.

With every new launch, customers want the companies to work more on their smartphones and put on better features. But, to everyone’s surprise, Samsung might just remove one of the key aspects of the smartphone in this upcoming device. According to the reports, Samsung may not include the MicroSD slot which is present to expand the storage capability. A similar kind of news came a day before but this time it is the industry authority, Roland Quandt, who had tweeted to confirm the rumors. You can find the tweet below.

A point to note is that Samsung has taken this step previously as well. In 2015, all of its premium models came without the MicroSD slot. In 2019 and 2020, some of the models of Samsung came without this external storage option. These changes do not affect customers’ sentiments. Samsung’s revenue has been on a constant rise for a few years. Their bottom-line or profits has also increased but fell last year. Though, that was expected due to the ill-effects of the pandemic.

Though this news is yet to confirmed by Samsung officially. Thus, we cannot approve this news but often these leaks prove out to be true which makes us believe that Samsung Galaxy S21 might come up without a MicroSD slot. Anyways, all these rumors will be rested soon as the official launch of the smartphone is just a fortnight away.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 series to have 16-core option?

0

AMD is all set to make many announcements at the CES 2021, which is a week apart from now. Now a new rumour has come up that AMD might introduce us with a 16-core Threadripper 5000 processor.

This is quite unusual as AMD’s monstrous 16-core Ryzen 5950X is already there, however, according to other rumours, the Threadripper 5000 series might also have a different codename: “Chagall”. So, as Genesis Peak might refer to the platform itself, Chagall could directly relate to the Threadripper series.

In fact, according to another theory, the Genesis could be the codename for the ‘entry-level’ EPYC chip that might feature 16-core SKUs. Yuri has explicitly told Videocardz that his ‘leak’ covers Threadripper as the original information also mentions the sTRX socket.

So, if do a 16-core Threadripper 5000 CPU exist then it will be named Ryzen Threadripper 5960X most probably, as Threadripper naming pattern continues from where it started by Ryzen SKUs. The main difference between the two could be the Threadripper advantages like quad-memory support and more PCIe lanes being available to the CPU.

Obviously, you won’t have to wait long to get the truth uncovered as AMD will likely announce the Ryzen Threadripper 5000 series in a few days at CES Keynote by Dr Lisa Su. Seeing the amazing Zen 3 architecture on Ryzen 5000, the expections for next-gen Threadripper is indeed very exciting.

Huawei removes Tencent Games from its App Store over disputes: Reports

0

Huawei Technologies Co. removed Tencent Holdings Ltd.’s online games offering from its app store as some terms of revenue structure is not being agreed upon and some terms of cooperation have changed between the two technology giants.

According to an official announcement posted on Huawei’s gaming app, the games were removed after Tencent made a “big change” on Dec. 31 to how the companies work with each other, no elaborate details were provided.

Huawei smartphones use their own play store to offer games even though most smartphones in China use Google’s Android operating system, the Google PlayStore isn’t available on Huawei smartphones, and apps are instead sold by mainland manufacturers and others. Chinese tech giant, Huawei, was the biggest smartphone maker in Asia’s biggest economy during the September quarter with 43% of shipments, according to Counterpoint Research.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Huawei’s decision is based on the premise that Tencent is unilaterally asking to halt cooperation and that its decision has been taken after its legal team assessed the situation.

A report from Reuters, however, suggests that the issue is related to revenue-sharing arrangements. The games were removed because Huawei insists on receiving a 50% cut, Reuters’ source said.

If revenue agreement is the case, then this is not the first time that Huawei’s revenue demands have been an issue for game developers, as Shanghai-based developer Mihoyo decided not to place its hit game “Genshin Impact” last year on Huawei’s app store because it did not agree with the commission structure for sales.

Tencent’s game products were removed from Huawei’s app store early Friday when the promotion agreement expired before a new one could be reached between the two tech giants, a check on Huawei’s app store showed that games such as the Chinese version of Arena of Valor developed by Tencent are not available.

A Tencent spokesperson responded to Bloomberg’s inquiries.

“We are communicating and negotiating with Huawei’s mobile game platform for a solution, and hope to resume our services soonest possible,” they said.

NVIDIA is expected to launch its RTX 30-series GPUs for mobile at this CES 2021, coming in a few days. Meanwhile, TUM_APISAK has spotted the upcoming RTX 3070 mobile GPU on an HP Omen 15 laptop.

It’s almost no brainer that a handful of laptops will be adopting NVIDIA’s upcoming mobile GPUs and this leak suggests HP will follow as well. So, the Omen 15-ek1xxx laptop with Core i7-10870H and 16GB RAM.

The RTX 3070 scored 101,621 points and 110,839 points in two OpenCL tests, making it 36.9% and 49.3% faster than its predecessor RTX 2070 Max-Q, which scored 74,236 points. Also, this score of the RTX 3070 mobile is more than a desktop RTX 2080.

It features 40 CUs, 5120 CUDA cores, 8GB GDDR6 memory with a 256-bit bus. This ought to be the Max-Q variant, so drawing 80-90W of power. Overall, this type of graphics performance paired with a stronger Intel Tiger Lake-H and Ryzen 5000H processors will indeed be a lucrative for gamers this year.

Unreal Engine 5 brings the next-gen visuals to games

0

Epic always wants to see the future. Epic has become an influential force in the industry of videogame. In terms of tech Epic has been always a big player. In 2012, it was officially announced that Unreal Engine 4 is going to be part-acquired by Tencent. In the previous year, Epic had revealed a trailer of Fortnite, a small side-project. The team then can predict that the game might be a good fit for a free-to-play model. Now we can say this model becomes the future of this big success in the gaming industry.

Epic is actively looking to shape the future by operating so many sectors. A tech demo of Unreal Engine 5, made to run on PS5 and it seems this was the most finely detailed and dramatically well-lit environment. It shows that, how the next-gen games are going to look like. The idea of guiding behind Unreal Engine 5 is that the developers will need to use less manpower, time, and resources to create a next-gen visual. The engine is able to produce the best quality at a minimum amount of cost.

Brian Karis, technical director of graphics at Epic Games recalls, “It was kind of like a spark in the imagination. I had had a bunch of really good experiences with virtual texturing – I’d written my own virtual texturing system at a past company before coming to Epic. I’d seen how transformative that was for the team to not have to worry about texture budgets. I thought it would be great if we could apply the same sort of concept and approach – not the implementation exactly – to let the artists be free and not have to deal with budgets, not just for textures, but for geometry, for anything else.”

Tim Sweeney, the founder of Epic Games says, “We’ve always been a game developer, and we want to build the kind of industry that we want ourselves as a game developer. There’s been some awesome examples of this throughout time. You look at all the projects that released their source code, and became much more widely used because of it.”

Epic is now focusing on providing all the advantages to developers for building an industry that’s “highly competitive, and healthy, and independent,” Sweeney says. Is Sweeney trying to say that the main goal for Epic is that to put an end to the console war of past decades?

Redmi 9T handled in an unboxing video: Which smartphone does it resemble the most?

The Chinese OEM, Xiaomi, recently launched their flagship device Mi 11. But according to some reports, they might be unveiling another smartphone very soon. Xiaomi launched Redmi 9 Power last month and now they might be adding another member to that series. Redmi 9T is reported to be that new device that will take a spot in that series. It is tipped to be launched on 8th January 2020, that is, just a week away.

Some of the reports are suggesting that it is not actually a new smartphone but a rebranded version of Redmi 9 Power. For the people who are unaware, Redmi 9 Power is itself a rebadged version of Redmi Note 9 4G. The only added feature is the 2MP macro camera.

An unboxing video of Redmi 9T showed up on Youtube. The link to the video is here, but the video has now been removed. Even though the video has been removed, you can view some of the snapshots of the video in the tweet attached below. In these photos, we can see that Redmi 9T is looking way too similar to Redmi 9 Power, thus their specification can be very similar too.

If we believe what these reports are suggesting then we can expect Redmi 9T to come up with a 6.53″ FullHD+ LCD display. It should be run by a Snapdragon 662 SoC. Coming to the optics, the smartphone might feature five cameras. They will be an 8MP selfie shooter, a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP ultrawide, 2MP depth, and 2MP macro units. Even though the two mobile look very similar, there are chances that their specifications are different. Thus, we should actually wait for one more week before coming to any type of conclusion.

An overclocked Intel Core i9-11900K breaks all records, defeats Ryzen 7 5800X

0

Intel is on the verge of launching its 11th Gen Rocket Lake CPUs, meanwhile, we have a bunch of leaks showing its performance gains over last-gen. Also, showing how it holds up against the revolutionary AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors.

Already the upoming flagship Core i9-11900K was spotted earlier with a mind-blowing single-core result and an impressive multi-core result as well. As we know this 8 core, 16 threaded CPU has a max all core boost of 4.8GHz and 3.5GHz base clock speeds.

So, when overclocked, the chip went up to 5.2GHz on all cores and that’s really impressive, especially on a 14nm node. However, this comes at a cost of higher TDP, most probably pushing to its highest PL2 limit at 250W.

We saw previously that at stock, the Core i9-11900K had very little difference with its closest competitor Ryzen 7 5800X. In CPU-Z benchmark, the Intel CPU scored 695.4 points, way ahead to Ryzen’s 663 points.

Whereas in multi-core, the Intel upcoming flagship still lagging behind AMD with 6522.1 points to Ryzen 7 5800X’s 6766 points. Now, when overclocked at 5.2GHz all core, the single-core score goes up to 706.3 points whereas the multi-threaded score going up to 7199 points.

However, do note that this kind of overclocking is indeed very unstable, so I guess, if all 8 cores are overclocked to 5GHz, that should comfortably beat AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. The popularity of the CPU will indeed depend on the pricing of the Core i9-11900K, rumored to be $450.

Zoom: A guide to change the backgrounds

Zoom is a videotelephony software program developed by Zoom Video Communications. The free version provides a video chatting service that allows up to 100 devices at once, with a 40-minute time restriction for free accounts having meetings of three or more participants.

With the sudden lockdowns induced by the pandemic, it was inevitable that most of the professions took to the online platform. But the question was to remain connected even while maintaining social distancing. As such the online video conferencing platforms like Zoom came to the rescue of organizations and personal communications alike.

What started as a simple yet powerful service for video conferencing, Zoom has become the most preferred tool of the masses. Some might have already discovered a wonderful new setting of the App that allows its users to set the custom background for your meeting.

From a simple scene of your bedroom to the exquisite scenery of Switzerland, the users can use the service to change their background to whatever they like. The app also allows the option to set Custom backgrounds by uploading the images of their liking.

But before you upload any custom background in Zoom, just check the guidelines below to modify an image to your liking:

  • Format: GIF, JPG/JPEG, or 24-bit PNG (no alpha). Any transparent areas of PNGs will be shown on a white background.
  • Minimum dimension: 960px
  • Maximum dimension: 1920px
  • Recommended dimensions: 1920px by 1080px (16:9 aspect ratio). If you don’t use an image with an aspect ratio of 16:9, you may see black bars beside the background image.
  • Maximum file size: 5 MB

Change your Zoom background on the desktop app

Most of the users prefer to use the desktop client of the service, and not everyone is an employee. Some of them are students giving virtual presentations or freshers attending their first virtual interview. The desktop app allows users to set the background image to their liking and impress their employer with the best background scenery.

To set the background image in the Zoom desktop app:

  1. Click your profile in the top right corner, and click Settings.
  2. On the left menu, click Virtual Background.
  3. Zoom has provided some default background options, it includes an outer space scene or blades of grass. You can choose one of those by clicking on it, and it will automatically change your screen as well.
  4. Those who prefer to have their background image can upload a photo to use as your background, on the same Virtual Background Page. Click the + icon next to where it says Choose Virtual Background. After a dialogue box pops open, choose a photo from your computer and press open/upload. It will appear in the Zoom gallery to choose from.
  5. If you want to delete any unnecessary photos, just press on the X in the top left corner of the image.

Change your Zoom background on the mobile app

  1. In a meeting just tap the three dots at the bottom right of the screen to open the More menu.
  2. Tap Virtual Background.
  3. You can select any of the default background images or if you like, you can upload any image to your liking.

Enjoying the beauty of setting custom backgrounds is fun, and users get the option to not only customize the desktop client and mobile app. But also can customize the Web-client which features Zoom Rooms, Floors, or even locations. But there are a few requirements to do so:

Prerequisites

  • Account admin or owner
  • Zoom Room Version 3.5.19327.0620 and above

If you are looking for customizing the background of your Zoom Rooms using the Zoom web-client then things might be a little tricky. But do follow the guide below, to get the things done properly.

  1.  Log in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Room Management > Zoom Rooms.
  3. Click Account Settings which is at the top of the page.
  4. In the Account Profile tab, under the Background image for Zoom Rooms, click Upload New Image.
  5. Select your image and click Open.

Change the background image for a room, floor, or location

Do be extremely careful while doing this. Remember that when a customized background image is uploaded for a specific room, floor, or location, the default image will be replaced by the uploaded image.

  1. Log in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Room Management > Zoom Rooms.
  3. Click Edit next to the room, floor, or location. ( it depends on where you want the background image to be applied)

  6. Select your image, and click Open.

If you want to delete any uploaded image then you can do so by clicking on Delete or Reset to remove your uploaded image. If your account has a default image, it will replace your uploaded image.

For those looking to take their backgrounds to a more advanced and realistic level, here are some additional tips:

  • The best background effects can be achieved using a solid color background, preferably green.
  • Most of the cameras on desktops and Notebooks have a very disappointing quality, so higher quality cameras result in better virtual background.
  • Use uniform lighting and color.
  • Do not wear clothing that is the same color as the virtual background.
  • For those who want to achieve a realistic look, match your clothing with the background, and make sure that what you wear stand out more than your background.
  • It is always a better option to go with something solid when facing a virtual interview.
  • For students, you have varied choices. But we recommend going with the background, which is related to the subject that you are currently going to attend.
