President of Elon Musk’s Neuralink venture announces departure via Tweet

Max Hodak, President of American neurotechnology company, Neuralink, took to Twitter on Saturday to announce that he has left the company he co-founded with Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Hodak did not elaborate on the reason for his departure or elaborate on the circumstance for his departure. “I am no longer at Neuralink (as of a few weeks ago),” he tweeted. “I learned a ton there and remain a huge cheerleader for the company! Onward to new things.”

Musk has invested millions of dollars of his own money while co-founding Neuralink along with Hodak and several other people in 2016. Last year, according to a report by Stat News, some former employees of Neuralink described a chaotic internal culture, saying that its scientists weren’t always given enough time to complete projects.

The neurotech company is focused on developing brain-machine interfaces. On 9th April on Youtube, the company posted a video that appeared to show a monkey with a Neuralink implant in its brain moving a cursor on a computer screen using only its mind.

While Neuralink didn’t invent brain-machine interfaces, its technology potentially provides more data as it includes thin, flexible wires and more electrodes than other devices. Musk has stated that Neuralink’s technology could see a day in the future where it is used to allow paraplegics to walk again and allow humans to achieve “AI symbiosis,” merging the human brain with artificial intelligence.

But some in the scientific and medical communities have been skeptical of Nuralinks’s scientific claims and criticized the company. Especially, after an August 2020 demonstration of a pig that had a Neuralink device implanted in its brain, MIT Technology Review called the company “neuroscience theater,” and said, “most of the company’s medical claims remain highly speculative.”

The Verge’s Nicole Wetsman wrote last year, “fixing the brain isn’t an engineering problem.” Before any of the concepts Musk describes can come to pass, scientists need to learn much more about how the brain works, she added. “The brain is still mysterious, and the neurological causes of things like anxiety and addiction are still unclear,” Wetsman wrote.

Hodak didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment.

Our Thoughts

The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition packs a larger display and a more powerful battery than the Realme GT Neo smartphone. This gives an edge to the users of the former device. The camera and processor domain is almost but same for both so not much to distinguish between them.

The Realme GT Neo has an in-display fingerprint but the gaming smartphone does not have this feature which is a bit surprising. As the battery aspect is clearly dominated by the Redmi K40 Gaming, we might opt for it. Make your own decisions depending on what features you prefer and let us know as well!

Wolfire Games files antitrust lawsuit against Valve

In light of recent events just as Apple gets summoned to the courtroom, Valve is also getting sued by Wolfire Games citing anticompetitive practices via it’s worldwide online PC game store Steam.

Reports suggest that Valve controls nearly 75% of the PC gaming market in the US and uses that applies it to their own advantage and takes 30% toll in the process. The lawsuit had used the words “exploit publishers and consumers”.

It’s been said that the key aspect in their arsenal is their Steam Key Price Parity Provision which makes sure that the developers are not able to sell their products elsewhere for a lower price. For example in the case of Fifa 21, the price for the PC version is Rs.1319/- but at the same time, the price of the PC version in EA’s very own game store is a mammoth Rs.3999/-.

Recently Apple was asked by the court to justify it’s 30% app store fee and adding on Microsoft also have reduced their cut from 30% to 12%. In the current circumstances, Valve will possibly would have to do the same.

All the game stores are directly affected by Valve’s monopoly over the market. Experts claim that Epic Games is about to lose approximately 300 million dollars while trying to compete and fight Valve’s dominance over the market.

This is not the first time Valve is being sued for the same. Earlier this year in January reportedly another lawsuit was filed against Valve citing the same reasons.

From the looks of it, it seems that Valve is not only taking a hefty toll from the Game developers to diminish their profits but is also hurting it’s competition in the process.

The legal battle between Apple and Epic Games is still ongoing and doesn’t seem to end anytime soon as such we are seeing many new witnesses pop up at every trial session of the hearing. Recently, Epic Games expert witness testified that information from Apple’s Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis group show the App Store had a 77.8% operating margin in 2019, and 74.9% in 2018.

Barnes state that Apple has been tracking its App Store profits for several years now, he testified, and “also refute criticisms of my report proffered by certain Apple expert witnesses that it is not possible to calculate reliably or usefully the operating margins of the App Store.”

However, according to Apple, it doesn’t have a separate profit and loss statement for its App Store. a company’s spokesperson stated that “Epic’s expert’s calculations of the operating margins for the App Store are simply wrong and we look forward to refuting them in court.”

The main centre issue between the lawsuit of Epic games is that the game developer argues that the App Store provides no real service, but simply serves as a way for Apple to extract money from developers. It is suing Apple for antitrust violations on those grounds, after launching an unauthorized in-app payments system for Fortnite earlier this year. But Apple insists the App Store review process is a pivotal part of the broader platform safety efforts around iOS.

“Mr. Barnes’ estimate of the App Store’s operating margin is unreliable because it looks in isolation at one segment of the iOS ecosystem in a way that artificially boosts the apparent operating margin of that segment. When one looks at Apple’s device and services ecosystem as a whole, the operating margin falls to an unremarkable level.”

Two pictures have appeared on the internet, which are claimed to be snapshots of the next Battlefield game. We can see that these are not high-resolution images. One image shows a scene of a rocket launch from the first-person view in a vehicle’s cockpit. The other image features an aerial view of helicopters above an island during a storm. It seems that this one is not going to be a historical one like Battlefield 5.

As per leaker Tom Henderson, a modern-day Battlefield sequel is on its way, and he also claims that the next Battlefield title will be set “around 10 years from now” and will have weapons based on those currently exist, or are currently under development. Henderson also informed that the game will as usual called Battlefield, and will feature a campaign mode where players need to recruit a specialist unit both the Russia and USA will try to recruit. He said, “It would also appear like this year’s campaign is a co-op experience.”

Henderson hinted that players can expect a battle royale mode on the multiplayer side, and the four classes have several abilities rather than few gear loadouts: “For example, a Scout soldier might have silent footsteps, whereas an Assault soldier might be able to sprint for a longer duration.”

We are assuming that a reveal trailer for Battlefield will appear this spring, so we’ll have more information very soon. At this moment, there is only one official response available regarding Battlefield which is, the official Twitter account posting a description of spaghetti.

SpaceX plans to build a radar-based wind model for successful future tests

SpaceX recently announced that it plans to generate radar-based wind models for its test facility in Boca Chica, Texas. It recently made a filing to the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Office of Experimental Technologies (OET) last week, and according to the document, the company plans to “Generate historical wind models at the Boca Chica Range,” using a third-party manufacturer’s tropospheric radar wind profiler.

If the plan gets approved, then SpaceX will manage one of the biggest hurdles towards maintaining a successful launch cadence for modern-day spaceflight. To create wind models for Boca Chica, SpaceX will use Colorado-based Radiometric Corp.’s FBS-T (Full Beam Steering – Troposphere) tropospheric radar wind profiler.

According to sources, the profiler can read wind activity for altitudes as high as 8 kilometres and uses a 400Mhz – 500Mhz frequency band for this purpose.

This experimental program aims to generate wind models of the Boca Chica Range using data from a “Tropospheric Radar Wind Profiler”. This instrument depends on the scattering of a transmitted signal by irregularities in the index of refraction of the air. The irregularities are caused by turbulent eddies created by the wind. By receiving the scattered signal and determining the Doppler frequency, the speed of the wind can be determined.

The experimental use of the Radar Wind Profiler will contribute to the development of the Starship program, with the ultimate goal of making mankind a multi-planetary species, in the areas of flight safety and reliability by providing accurate, reliable wind speed/direction data.

SpaceX has requested the Commission to grant it the temporary authorization for two years since it is also gearing up to test the Starship SN15 prototype in Texas. This will be the fifth high-altitude test of the upper-stage rocket.

OPPO Reno 6’s specifications and price leaked ahead of May 22 launch

The latest update on Oppo Reno 6 series claims the launch on the 22nd of May in China. The device supports 5G like its predecessor the OPPO Reno 5 series.
It is rumored to have a 90Hz OLED display with a screen size of 6.5 inches. The rear camera is a quad-cam with a 64MP primary sensor and it has a standout and unique design. The front camera is 32MP.
The type of front camera is not confirmed as there are no verified images yet, but it could most probably be the hole-punch camera as it was in the Reno 5 series.
It will come with a 4500 mAh battery and will support fast charging. The Oppo Reno 6 series will have a type C cable and most likely will have a headphone jack as well.


The Oppo Reno 6 series will get an upgrade in its processor with a MediaTek Dimensity 1100 or Dimensity 1200 chipset overstepping from the previous Dimensity 1000 SoC. Moreover, it will have an octa-core processor with 8GB RAM and 128GB non-expandable most likely. It will also support dual 5G sims.
From the early leaks of the Oppo Reno 6 series, there seems to be no fingerprint scanner at the back of the phone similar to the Reno 5 and will have a front fingerprint scanner with the face unlock feature as well.
The OPPO Reno 6 series seems quite similar in design to the early leaked images of the OPPO Reno 5 series smartphones. From the leaked image it seems to have a glass rear back panel in navy blue colour. Previously, the OPPO Reno 5 Pro smartphones came in black and steel blue variants whereas, this time with the Reno 6 Pro variant OPPO might switch the color options.
According to the tipster we can expect the price of the Oppo Reno 6 series to vary somewhere around ¥2500 – ¥3000 ~ ₹28,641.
