The Disney and Marvel Games Showcase at D23 just ended, and the occasion was jam-packed with information and announcements regarding games from the many properties of the entertainment corporation. There was a tonne of game trailers shown during the conference, both for games that are currently available (like Disney Dreamlight Valley) and those that will be released in the future.

Tron Identity, a brand-new game set in the Tron universe, was unveiled by Disney. The brief teaser trailer mostly consisted of the game’s title card, but its Steam website reveals much more, including the fact that it is a visual novel mystery game. In 2023, Bithell Games, the studio behind independent games like Thomas Was Alone, will release Tron Identity.

A video game being developed by Skydance New Media will feature both the Captain America and Black Panther universes. The game will feature Steve Rogers/Captain America, Azzuri, the WWII-era Black Panther, Gabriel Jones, a US soldier who is also a member of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a member of the Wakandan Spy Network, according to a Marvel blog post. However, this teaser trailer was short on details. Amy Hennig, a former creative director for the Uncharted series who joined Skydance in October, will be in charge of the as-yet-untitled game.

Marvel World of Heroes is a brand-new augmented reality smartphone game being developed by Disney with the creators of the Pokémon Go augmented reality game, Niantic.

Players will be able to transform into their own superhero and “patrol their neighborhoods to foil crimes, execute Super Hero missions, and thwart interdimensional threats,” according to a press release. That suggests that you might encounter groups of players roaming about your area brandishing their iPhones, I suppose. The game is scheduled to debut in 2019.

The upcoming strategy game Marvel’s Midnight Suns, created by Firaxis Games, was unveiled by Disney along with a release date. I’m really looking forward to reading through the scrapbook to catch up on the story before delving into the puzzle adventure because I’ve only ever played the first two Monkey Island games. Fortunately, I won’t have to wait long because Return to Monkey Island will be available on September 19 for PC and Nintendo Switch.

Kopite7kimi recently tweeted that NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4060 graphics cards would not be particularly quick and might use an x8 PCI interface. The NVIDIA AD106 GPU, which is supposed to power the RTX 4060 series graphics cards, has a poor performance, according to the leaker.

Although we are unsure of the precise configuration being discussed, it is more likely that he is referring to the full-fat die than a scaled-down version. According to a leaked 3DMark Time Spy Extreme benchmark, the GPU scored less than 7000 points.

With this performance, the AD106 GPU should be slower than the RTX 3070 Ti and comparable to the RTX 3070, which is not the significant improvement that the higher-end AD102 and AD103 GPUs are receiving.

The AD106 GPU (GeForce RTX 4060) should be up to 18% quicker than the RTX 3060 Ti and 69% faster than the RTX 3060 with a Time Spy Extreme score between 6500 and 7000.

Even while a performance improvement of more than 50% is significant, the 2x leaps that have been rumoured for high-end cards are larger. Gaming would at most see a 30–40% improvement if synthetic benchmarks increased by 50–60%.

The leaker further states that the PCIe x8 interface will be used by the “Ada Lovelace” GPUs AD106 and AD107. It makes sense given that these GPUs are primarily aimed at the mobility market (Laptops/Notebooks). The GeForce RTX 4060 and 4050 for desktops will now have an x8 link, which shouldn’t be a problem for most PCs as next-generation systems from AMD and Intel support Gen 5 PCIe slots. However, using an older Gen 3 platform can cause problems due to its lower bandwidth and transfer speeds.

Over the past few weeks, at least three SSD manufacturers—Corsair, Gigabyte, and Goodram—announced their SSDs based on Phison’s E26 controller with a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface. The greatest sequential read speed offered by Corsair and Goodram drives is 10 GBps, Gigabyte’s offering is said to reach 12.4 GBps. This is because no 3D NAND chip is currently fast enough to utilise the controller’s full potential.

Eight NAND channels are present in the Phison PS5026-E26 controller, which is usual for client SSDs. These channels can handle a variety of data transfer speeds, however 3D NAND memory with a 2400 MTps interface is required to reach PCIe 5.0 x4 (15.754 GBps in both directions) saturation. This memory was first announced by Micron in July, followed by SK Hynix in early August, and then YMTC unveiled their Xtacking 3.0 architecture, which enables a 2400 MTps speed.

All of Phison’s E26 demos used SSDs equipped with Micron’s most recent 3D NAND chips, and at this time, the drives’ sequential read rates reached about 12 GBps. According to ITHome, Galax is also testing its HOF Extreme 50 SSDs using Micron’s 232-layer 2400 MTps chips.

Only time will tell if Gigabyte can obtain sufficient 2400 MTps processors to ensure the correct availability of their drive. Since Corsair and Goodram’s performance goals are arguably more reasonable, anticipate that these SSDs will be among the best ones this fall and be widely available.

Also anticipate the debut of these businesses’ MP700 and IRDM Pro successors as soon as memory with a 2400 MTps interface becomes generally accessible. “Spending on premium devices is growing, hence the next six months will give good volumes to Apple in the premium space till we see Samsung’s Galaxy S23 in February.” The iPhone 13 and 13 Pro will still drive volumes in India, he said.

Both CMR and Counterpoint Research forecast an increase in Apple’s India shipments from last year’s 5 million units to 7–7.5 million units for the entire calendar year. According to Counterpoint Research, Apple’s overall market share in the Indian smartphone industry will reach its greatest level ever this year, reaching 4%, with over 47% of the premium market.
