OLA: 3,426 electric scooters are sold in July which is 42% fewer than in June

According to the most recent figures from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Bhavish Aggarwal-led Ola Electric sold 3,426 units in July 2022, a 42 percent decrease month-over-month from the 5,874 units sold in June.

Ola Electric Sales in July

The Bengaluru-based company experienced issues with RTO (regional transport office) registrations, software bugs, overheating, subpar service, etc. when it began shipping in December 2021.

Its revenues have consistently decreased month over month. After selling 12,691 units in April 2022, the firm surpassed all other manufacturers of electric two-wheelers, but from May onward, sales began to drop, falling to 9,225 units.

Eight-month-old vehicle manufacturing at its Future Factory in Krishnagiri, Tamilnadu, was put on hold due to annual maintenance. Recent sources claim that it was the result of an increase in inventory brought on by cancellations.

However, the company refuted it. They claimed that we performed annual maintenance at our factories much like the majority of automakers. This in no way constitutes a suspension of production. Hence, it is made clear that the information is false.

Monthly Production in the Company

The company is still generating far less each month than its monthly manufacturing capacity, which is roughly 15,600. The fact that the company was able to secure over 1 lakh bookings within two days of the sale window opening online and that it was unable to sell even half of that number by July of this year, indicates that the factory has been operating at less than 50% of its installed capacity, is also noteworthy.

The company shut down Ola Dash in June and refocused Ola Cars, its used car subsidiary, on its electric business after announcing intentions to grow its rapid commerce operation Ola Dash in January of this year to create 500 dark stores across 20 cities.

As per the sources, the company said that Ola has reevaluated its priorities with a clear focus and made the decision to discontinue the rapid commerce operation. The infrastructure, technology, and capacities of Ola Cars will be repurposed to expand the sales and service network of Ola Electric.

Intel reportedly postpones its production of Meteor Lake CPUs using TSMC’s 3nm technology

According to a report from TrendForce Research, ntel has decided to push out the mass production of its Meteor Lake GPU tile using TSMC’s 3nm-class technology (N3, N3E, etc.) until late 2023. According to TSMC, the delay has had an impact on its investments in raising its N3-capable production capacity.

Initial chips were scheduled to be produced in early 2023, while Apple and Intel were anticipated to be the first businesses to use TSMC’s N3 production node in the second half of 2022. However, it was anticipated that Intel’s first N3 product would be a GPU tile for its 14th Generation Core ‘Meteor Lake’ processors, which are scheduled to launch in the fall of 2023. The beginning of its GPU tile high volume manufacture was thus delayed to the first half of 2023, and it was most recently postponed even longer into 2023, according to TrendForce.

We can infer from Intel’s updated timeframe that the business may have chosen to forego TSMC’s N3 fabrication method in favour of N3E manufacturing technology. In exchange for a slightly lower transistor density, N3E promises an enhanced process window and maybe higher yields. Although we do not know for sure, it might make sense for Intel.

Intel reiterated comments made by CEO Pat Gelsinger at the company’s Q2 2022 earnings call, reiterating the Meteor Lake launch date of 2023: We will launch our first disaggregated CPU in 2023, which is based on Intel’s fourth generation, Meteor Lake, which is performing well in both our labs and those of our clients.

The foundry was forced to modify its N3-capable capacity growth, which had an impact on its CapEx in 2022 and 2023 because Intel apparently changed its 2023 outsourcing plan and informed TSMC about it.

While Intel changed its intentions for N3, other significant TSMC customers will continue to utilise the company’s 3nm-class nodes in accordance with their roadmap. In 2H 2022 to early 2023, Apple is anticipated to be the N3 node’s first and sole user. The N3E and N3P fabrication techniques from TSMC are expected to be used by businesses like AMD, MediaTek, and Qualcomm in 2024. As a result, TSMC will still need to make significant investments in order to increase its ability to produce N3 in the years 2022 to 2023.

Apple: 10th Generation iPad design rendered in new Images

The next iPhone 14 series and Apple Watch Series 8 are anticipated to be unveiled at an event held by Apple next month. Later this year, the business is also anticipated to introduce updated MacBook Pro versions and the new M2 iPad Pro. According to recent reports, the business is reportedly developing a new entry-level 10th generation iPad with flat edges, quad speakers, and a camera bump. Later this year, the new 10th-generation iPad will go on sale.

The newest iPad mini 6, which has a 10.2-inch display, may be modelled after Apple’s upcoming 10th-generation iPad. It is anticipated to have smooth edges, a quad-speaker system, and a bump for the rear camera. MySmartPrice acquired the renderings of the 10th-generation entry-level iPad from a case manufacturer.

According to the article, the 10th-generation iPad would support USB-C, have a bigger display, and be powered by the A14 Bionic CPU, which confirms earlier reports. The corners of the renders appear to be rounded when we look at them carefully. The display will have corners even though the design is identical to the current iPad models’ flat sides. The entry-level iPad will appear to have a less expensive appearance as a result.

The entry-level Apple iPad of the 9th generation costs $329.

We can anticipate a minor price hike given the tablet’s significant overhaul. The 10th generation iPad will include a Touch ID sensor built into the Home button, according to the renderings. The other iPad models have either switched to Face ID or Touch ID in the Power button, making it the only one with Touch ID on the Home button. The gadget will also include a single camera on the front and rear.

The camera module and LED flash will be housed in the pill-shaped casing, per the renderings. The 10th generation iPad will also have dimensions of 248.62 x 179.50 x 6.98. The forthcoming entry-level iPad will be wider but significantly thinner than the previous model.

Apple may later this year unveil the M2 iPad Pro models and the 10th-generation entry-level iPad if you are impatiently awaiting the release of the product. In September of last year, the business unveiled the 9th-gen model, which had significant internal improvements and a better camera.

Top 5 free agents yet to be signed by any clubs yet

0

The Premier League, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 will be starting out this weekend. But top free agents are still available on the transfer market now. These players left their clubs upon the end of their contracts this summer, and are still searching for new teams to play for.

So, here are the top five free agents that are yet to find a club at this stage of the transfer window.

Top 5 free agents yet to find a new club

5. Dan-Axel Zagadou

The Frenchman left Borussia Dortmund at the end of the 22/23 season. The centre-back struggled with injuries during his time at the German side, but has still been able to provide a solid shift. Zagadou has been linked to Manchester United and Roma but neither club have achieved a breakthrough in negotiations.

4. Jason Denayer

The Belgian left Lyon to play for a new club, and is now on the radar of Sevilla. But surprisingly, no club has stepped forward to recruit him.

3. Edinson Cavani

Cavani struggled with fitness issues during his last season at Manchester United, after an impressive first year. But after refusing to extend his deal with the Red Devils, he is looking to move to La Liga.

2. Isco

The former Real Madrid man is one of the top free agents on the transfer market. The playmaker left Los Blancos after a lengthy spell, and won the Champions League trophy with them. He was believed to have an agreement with Real Betis, but the deal fell through and he is yet to sign for a new club.

1. Andrea Belotti

The Italian forward is surprisingly still on the market, after leaving Torino at the end of his contract with the club. Roma, Everton and Newcastle United have all been rumoured as potential destinations for the striker. He has been able to establish himself among the top forwards in Europe despite not playing in the Champions League. However, his next destination remains to be determined.

Intel and Italy might soon finalize their Semiconductor at a whopping $5 billion

According to sources, Italy is nearing agreement with Intel to develop an advanced semiconductor packaging and assembly facility there for an initial investment of $5 billion.

The U.S. chipmaker’s investment in Italy is a part of a larger strategy it unveiled earlier this year to invest $88 billion in expanding capacity throughout Europe. Intel is attempting to reduce its reliance on Asian chip imports and ease a supply shortage that has slowed production in the crucial auto industry in the area.

The sources, who requested anonymity owing to the delicate nature of the situation, claimed that the administration of outgoing Prime Minister Mario Draghi was seeking to reach a deal by the end of August in order to hold a special election on September 25.

According to sources previously cited by Reuters, Rome is prepared to contribute up to 40% of Intel’s overall investment in Italy, which is anticipated to grow over time from the initial $5 billion.

The Intel factory would weave entire chips made of tiles together using innovative technology.

According to the individuals, Intel and the government have narrowed down a list of potential sites in two Italian provinces; one of them said that the locations are in Piedmont and Veneto’s northern regions.

According to both sources, a final choice has not yet been made on the location of the facility. Initially, the areas of Sicily, Lombardy, and Apulia were also taken into consideration.

It’s not yet known how much Intel will contribute overall or how Italy would pay for its portion of the investment.

Early this year, the European Commission declared that it has made available 15 billion euros in additional public and private investment by 2030 under the so-called Chips Act, which aims to finance innovative semiconductor facilities. This comes on top of the 30 billion euros in public investments that NextGenerationEU, Horizon Europe, and national budgets have previously planned.

Rome has allocated 4.15 billion euros up to 2030 for the purpose of luring chipmakers and funding fresh industrial uses for cutting-edge technologies.

The government is also in contact with Israeli Tower Semiconductor, which Intel just acquired, French-Italian STMicroelectronics, Taiwan chipmakers MEMC Electronic Materials Inc. and TSMC, and Taiwan-based STMicroelectronics. STMicroelectronics and GlobalFoundries agreed to establish a semiconductor facility in France for $5.7 billion last month.

Komaki comes out with fireproof batteries following EV accidents

Electric vehicles are arguably the biggest means to tackle pollution and help us get an edge in the battle against climate change, however, despite the numerous options available in the market, these vehicles have been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately. The EVs catching fires have given these vehicles a rather bad reputation.

Komaki’s latest solution will reduce the number of vehicles catching fire:

Komaki has introduced brand new fireproof batteries in India as part of its solution and starting next month, these will be integrated into all of the company’s electric vehicles. The brand offers a range of electric scooters along with a bunch of electric motorcycles in India.

The latest batteries use lithium-ion batteries but with a slight change. The brand has created a simple smartphone app to track the battery health of their EV and the application will alert end users and other dealers with respect to the battery condition when in use.

Komaki EV

The brand claims that its new batteries have a configuration of lithium-ion phosphate(LiFEPO4), these batteries are much better than the current ones in terms of their fire-resistance capabilities. These battery cells’ iron content is the reason for the improved safety and the manufacturer claims that even in the worst of circumstances, the batteries are fire-proof in comparison to its competitors.

Komaki is also looking to reduce the number of cells in the battery pack by a third in order to make them less fire-resistant, with lesser cells, the amount of heat buildup in the battery will be less.

The brand also claims that its batteries have a much better life cycle of 2500-3000 in comparison to the NMC(Nickel, Manganese, and Cobalt) batteries’ standard 800 life cycle.

Komaki EV

With fewer parts, it also makes it easier for the original equipment makers to fix the batteries in one place which lessens the likelihood of battery damage during transit periods to and from repair facilities.

The battery cells are balanced every few seconds by an innovative active balancing mechanism, the application has the ability to analyze 250 batteries in real-time as per business execs. The company claims that the LiFePO4 battery can go over 300 miles on a single charge and looking at what the competition has to offer, 18-KM on a single charge for the Komaki SE and the TN95 will suffice in the real world. Once we see these batteries function only can we tell if they are truly efficient or not?
