ASUS updates the Zenbook 14X with an OLED display & faster processors

ASUS is taking the game even further, OLEDs now will become a household name, helping creators to get extra juice out of their laptops. With high-colour accurate displays, faster processors and a compact style, ASUS is directly challenging creators to replace their MacBooks with their laptops.

Though it has recently launched a wide portfolio of products all of them offering OLED displays, the most interesting I felt has to be the new 14-inch Zenbook 14X OLED. I personally reviewed this year’s ASUS Zenbook 14 and the only con I pointed out was the display which could have been improved.

So, I knew ASUS would eventually roll out an updated laptop with a better OLED display and maybe a faster processor. So, you can configure with a 14-inch 4K OLED HDR display or a 2.8K OLED 90Hz display, this is even a huge step up in terms of the FHD OLED display we see on the ASUS Zenbook 13 OLED.

Zenbook 14X OLED will cover 100% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut and comes with a 0.2ms response time and Asus even claims it will emit “70% less harmful blue light than normal LCD”. The laptop weighs just 1.4 Kg and is 0.67 inches thick, so it is very portable as well as powerful.

It is powered by the latest 11th Generation Intel Core processors or AMD Ryzen 5000 H-Series processors, these laptops deliver maximum performance with ASUS Intelligent Performance Technology. This is coupled with up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of SSD storage.

In terms of ports, we have a Thunderbolt 4 (for the Intel model), HDMI 2.0, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, and a MicroSD reader. I like the fact that ASUS has gone for the more powerful 45W based SKUs so that you get the performance when needed, essential for creators and professionals.

We don’t exactly know the kind of battery life you can expect from this laptop as you have a high-resolution display. The new Asus Zenbook 14X OLED starts at $1,399.99, which is a big increase in pricing from the Zenbook 13 OLED.

Also, ASUS has got you covered if you need the same aspects of a regular Zenbook 14X in a 2-in-1 form factor, you can choose the Zenbook 14 Flip OLED. So, you get a touch display that supports a “4096-pressure-level stylus” and a precision-engineered 180° ErgoLift hinge.
