KRX started slowly on Day 1 of the BGMI International Cup (BMIC) 2026, then pushed into the top three. Right after the matches we sat down with the Korean team, with an interpreter translating, to ask what changed, how they see the Indian teams, and who they think wins.
About BMIC 2026
BMIC 2026 runs from 30 October to 1 November at the Dome, SVP Indoor Stadium (NSCI) in Mumbai. Sixteen teams from India, South Korea and Japan are playing for a ₹1 crore prize pool, with the team on the most overall points crowned champion on Day 3. KRX are one of the Korean sides in the field.
How is the experience for a Korean team in India?
Our first question was about the setup itself: Korean, Japanese and Indian teams going head to head at one event. How does that feel?
Through the interpreter, KRX described it as an international contest where everything is new to them. The environment, the people and the opposing teams are unfamiliar, and three different countries are involved. Because of that, they said, the team is taking it very seriously and will try to win.
Slow start, top 3 finish: what was the Day 1 strategy?
We pointed out that KRX looked slow at the start of the day, then picked up the pace and finished strongly to sit in the top three.
KRX explained that early on they were working out how the other teams were playing and did not want to make mistakes. They still managed to make their place in the top three. The team said it would learn from the mistakes of Day 1 and try not to repeat them on Day 2. That was their strategy going forward.
Korea vs India: who is the real competition?
With Indian teams also in the top 10, the clear race is Korean teams against Indian teams. We asked how KRX see the chances of the Indian teams overtaking the Koreans.
Some of the answers came in Korean and were then translated. Two points stood out:
- KRX said the team had no particular favourite apart from Outrage, the Indian side. Outrage Esports are one of the Indian teams in the field.
- On other countries, the player said the Japanese teams are also doing really well.
“Korea might win this battle”
The most striking part of the interview was the prediction. Through the interpreter, KRX said the top three teams at that point were all Korean teams, and that the team thinks Korea could win.
This is the team’s own view in the moment, after one day of a three-day event. Indian teams still have two days to respond, so treat it as confidence, not a result.
The last questions: favourite match and Indian food
We closed the interview by asking which match was the team’s favourite so far and whether they had tried Indian food since arriving in Mumbai. The answers are in the video, and the team thanked us at the end.
Key takeaways
- KRX called BMIC 2026 an international contest where everything is new to them.
- They started cautiously while studying the other teams, then finished in the top three.
- They plan to avoid repeating their Day 1 mistakes on Day 2.
- They said Korea might win, and that Japanese teams are also strong.
- Outrage is the only Indian team they named as a favourite.
A note on the translation
This interview was recorded with an interpreter, and some answers were given in Korean first. The English in this article follows the interpreter’s wording, so small differences from the original Korean are possible.
