Years of silence. Years of suppressed pain. And now, one face-to-face confrontation that promises to be one of the most emotionally charged scenes in JTBC’s We Are All Trying Here so far. Get ready — because Go Youn Jung is done playing it safe.

What Is We Are All Trying Here?

JTBC’s We Are All Trying Here tells the story of Hwang Dong Man (Koo Kyo Hwan), an aspiring film director who, surrounded by successful friends, believes he is the only one whose life isn’t working out. Consumed by anguish, envy, and jealousy, he sets out on a journey in search of peace.

But at its emotional core, the drama is also powerfully exploring Byun Eun Ah’s story — and the episode ahead may be her most defining moment yet.

The Confrontation That’s Been Building All Season

Previously, Byun Eun Ah was seen struggling with the deep trauma of having been abandoned by her mother Oh Jung Hee. After casting aside her husband and biological daughter without hesitation, Oh Jung Hee had replaced her family with a new husband and stepdaughter, leaving Byun Eun Ah with wounds that never truly healed.

Now, the reckoning arrives. In the upcoming episode, Byun Eun Ah finally confronts her trauma head-on, coming face to face with Oh Jung Hee — who has been beautifying the past with lies to protect her image as an A-list actress. Byun Eun Ah ultimately explodes in a fit of rage and despair, unleashing all the anger and hurt she has kept bottled up. Notably, all of the tearful emotion Oh Jung Hee displayed during her awards ceremony acceptance speech is nowhere to be found — instead, she wears a cold expression with absolutely no sign of feeling apologetic towards her daughter.

That image — a daughter’s tears versus a mother’s cold indifference — is the kind of dramatic irony that makes Korean drama storytelling so devastatingly effective.

What the Production Team Is Teasing

The production team hinted there is a reason Byun Eun Ah — who had previously warned her mother not to reveal their relationship and hadn’t wanted to meet her face to face — has now agreed to this confrontation. They described her as a woman who will “show that she is a mild-mannered girl, but not a pushover,” and someone who is “fighting vigorously after gaining the courage to try fighting” rather than remaining trapped in her bleak reality. soompi
