Marvel’s latest VisionQuest promo shows a man engulfed in flames standing inside Vision’s internal Mind Space. Based on growing speculation, this is Jim Hammond — Marvel Comics’ very first Human Torch, introduced all the way back in 1939, a full two years before Captain America even existed.
Sharp-eyed fans will recall a brief tease of this android hero in Captain America: The First Avenger, where he appeared as a powered-down exhibit labeled “Synthetic Man” at the 1943 Stark Expo.
