Some towns hold onto their secrets a little too well — and Featherbank is exactly that kind of place. The Whisper Man, Robert De Niro’s upcoming crime thriller, is heading straight to streaming, and it’s shaping up to be one of the more unsettling watches of the year.

What’s the Story About?

The film follows crime writer Tom Kennedy, who moves to the quiet village of Featherbank with his seven-year-old son, Jake, hoping for a fresh start after losing his wife. But Featherbank isn’t as peaceful as it seems — the town still carries the scars of a string of child disappearances from decades earlier.

When a new disappearance mirrors the old case, unease spreads through the community. Meanwhile, Jake starts acting strangely, insisting he hears whispers and tapping near his window, and talking about an unseen friend. Detective Amanda Beck teams up with veteran investigator Pete Willis — De Niro’s character, who worked the original case — as the two timelines begin to collide, unraveling secrets that connect the past to the present.

Cast and Crew

Alongside De Niro, the film features Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, Michael Keaton, John Carroll Lynch, Hamish Linklater, and Owen Teague. The screenplay comes from Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer, based on Alex North’s novel, with Peter Deming behind the camera and Christopher Tellefsen editing.

De Niro isn’t slowing down after this either — he’s set to return as Jack Byrnes in the fourth Fockers film, releasing later this year with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson back in the fold.
