Some actors just have that effortless “it” factor — and Suriya’s new trailer for Vishwanath & Sons is a reminder of exactly why he’s stayed at the top for so long. This isn’t your typical mass-action outing; it’s a tender, layered love story that’s already got fans talking.
Here’s everything the trailer reveals, and why this one deserves a spot on your must-watch list this August.
What’s the Story About?
Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, an Olympic-level shooter raised by a devoted single mother to master his sport. Now seemingly a single father himself, Sanjay’s world shifts when his son needs urgent medical treatment — a crisis that brings him face-to-face with Maddy, a free-spirited woman in her 20s played by Mamitha Baiju.
What unfolds is an unconventional, cross-generational romance layered with emotional depth, unresolved past wounds, and the quiet chemistry that only a seasoned actor like Suriya can pull off convincingly.

Why This Film Stands Out
What makes Vishwanath & Sons intriguing isn’t just its unconventional romance — it’s Suriya’s continued willingness to step outside mass-hero territory into more grounded, emotionally driven roles. Over a career spanning decades in Tamil cinema, Suriya has built a reputation for balancing commercial hits with meaningful, socially resonant films, a journey well documented on Wikipedia.
With this being one of his three anticipated 2026 releases alongside Suriya47 and his upcoming film with director TJ Gnanavel, fans have plenty to look forward to from the actor this year.
