Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Bluetooth Headphone Review: Performance speaks for itself

Soundcore by Anker is one brand that has stepped into India since the boom of audio accessories started to take place in India and though people are still getting to know the brand its philosophy is clear. It is bridging the gap between affordable audio products and premium ones like Sony.

There are different people in the market with different philosophies and tastes but making a name for itself is difficult unless you have a good product. While Anker products are quite popular in the US or other European states, in India it’s still in its growing state in our country but is creating a name for itself.

Without any fancy marketing and only groping in celebrities into the portfolio, Anker is diversifying its ecosystem and delivering solid products which speak for itself. If you look at the average rating of any audio accessory by Anker is over 4 stars which show how customers are actually liking the product.

Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Bluetooth Headphone Review: Performance speaks for itself

One of the reasons for testing out this Soundcore Life Q35 Audio Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphone is primarily because there are very few good quality Noise Cancelling headphones in this range. You have the new Sennheiser HD 450SE and ones from JBL, however, the USP of this one is that Soundcore promises features that you only see on expensive ones like the Sony WH-1000XMs which have a very high price for an average Indian consumer.

Now, a customer who looks into the market will find very few options with good noise cancelling at the budget segment while the ones from JBL, Sony and others don’t deliver that premiumness with that flagship features you could ask for. Coming in at Rs.10k, the Soundcore Life Q35 promises a lot of features you even cannot see on a headphone that costs Rs.15k to Rs.20k except the Sony WH-1000XM3.

Design & Build Quality

The Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Bluetooth Headphone has striking similarity in design with other Soundcore products which is not bad but retains the signature design of its Bluetooth headphones. One of the biggest controversies it has faced in the US is upgrading the Q30 with this Q35 with some minor upgrades in less than 6 months launch period.

Still, in India it is more expensive by Rs.2k than the Q30, this Life Q35 has a good design, is made up of premium plastic and never looks cheap. It has its own uniqueness and has this metal band over the head that gives rigidity but doesn’t weigh heavy which I do complain about other ANC headphones in the price range.

In terms of build quality, it is strong, stretchable and bendable, so you are covered in that segment if unless you desperately make accidents with it, light falls or bends won’t cause any problem. The best part is in the comfort of wearing it as the soft cushions are very cosy and the change in the earcup style is pretty good, easily giving room for even bigger ears.

There are various buttons on the headphones – on/off switches, a dedicated ANC switch, volume up/down switches on the right side and a button to skip tracks easily. Also, the right side of the earcup is touch-sensitive and you can switch to Transparency mode easily using this.

Overall, in terms of build quality, design and comfort it is very well balanced neither is it too cheap looking, still, it’s durable, comfortable and lightweight to wear. However, you could expect a bit of design improvement but much like Sony, Soundcore has kept the Q35 simple-looking yet classy.

The travel case, generally provided with all premium headphones, helps to keep it protected against daily wear and tear. Also, the quality of the case is premium and your headphones easily stay inside it along with the other accessories provided, making it easier than ever to carry it anywhere.

Audio Experience

Obviously, the biggest factor of buying this Bluetooth headphone has to be its audio and some of the features like Hi-Res Audio or LDAC support isn’t present in those headphones in this price segment. Still, Soundcore has indeed promised these features on the Q35 which needs to be tested out and to be honest both these features does really put an impact.

Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Bluetooth Headphone Review: Performance speaks for itself

The audio enhancement with LDAC and Hi-Res Audio is comparable on the quality of the sound and not the boost, as it sends 3 times more data than other Bluetooth codecs, the detail of the sound is incredible. It delivers precise sound with a wide frequency range and it gives a more pleasant experience rather than boosting the high & mid-tones.

The details captured by the audio drivers are really great and even if you hear endless music at a high volume your ears won’t hurt which is one of the key points of a premium headphone. I did spend hours listening to various kinds of music on it, the Life Q35 is a very nice option for normal music lovers and people who want very functional headphones.

It doesn’t focus on bass but more on the quality of the music and the earcups seal the noise passively while the Active Noise cancellation works like a charm. When you turn it on and listen to music, the experience whether you listen indoors or outdoors you will really enjoy without any interruptions.

Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Bluetooth Headphone Review: Performance speaks for itself

Overall, if you are talking about the audio experience you can expect from this Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Bluetooth Headphone is definitely on a positive note, however, it’s not for bass lovers but for a more balanced experience.

Connectivity

In terms of connectivity, Soundcore has packed a lot of features that do help in everyday usage, featuring the latest Bluetooth 5.0 version, you can even connect two devices to the Soundcore Life Q35 simultaneously. This makes it easier to switch between music, online meetings, videos, and calls on 2 different devices, I did use it on both my laptop and smartphone and used it flawlessly every time.

The connectivity range of this Wireless Bluetooth Headphone is great as well even if you walk around rooms with your phone or laptop in some other room you can talk or listen to music comfortably without any drop. Also, the headphone quickly connects to the last connected device whenever you turn it on and the pairing is also really simple.

It even has this NFC Pairing feature which is hardly present on any headphones in this price range and you can easily turn on NFC on your Android smartphone, simply tap on the left earcup of the Life Q35 within moments your headphone is connected. This is very simple and happens instantly even if your headphone is already connected to another device.

Another feature that is an upgrade over Q30 is the Wearing Detection, this feature as the name suggests turns on/off according to your motion. When you are listening to music and suddenly remove headphones from your ears, the sensor automatically detects it and stops the music. Likewise, if you again wear it, the media that was playing resumes from the place where you left, I found this feature very handy in my busy everyday life.

Mic Quality & Noise Cancellation

Coming to the microphone quality, Soundcore promises that Life Q35 uses beam-forming microphones and actually they are great. However, I faced some problems or say microphone issues with some Android smartphones while most iPhones didn’t give any problems at all and the receiving end was fine with my voice.

Soundcore says that it uses an AI algorithm to pick up and optimize your voice to ensure you are heard clearly by the other side. Well, sometimes the noise cancellation could make your voice a bit robotic but it is very effective when you are in a noisy environment and I would definitely recommend you to use it outdoors.

The highlight feature of this Wireless Headphones has to be its Audio Noise cancellation, it has three different modes: Transport, Indoor, and Outdoor modes. This is very handy as you can adjust the amount of noise cancellation you want and I used mostly in Indoors, definitely, it gave me the best results as even while others were talking say 5 meters away from I couldn’t listen to them, so the ANC works as expected.

The Life Q35 has not necessarily had to be the best but for the price, it gives a pretty great Noise-cancelling experience and you can easily switch to Transparency Mode by touching the right earcup’s touchpad for 1 second. This is very easy and helpful when someone talks to you, doesn’t pause the music or reduce volume as you see on premium Sony headphones but just lets you hear the voice who is talking or listen to what’s happening outside.

Battery Life

Now, in terms of battery life, Soundcore says that its Life Q35 ANC will give up to 40 hours of listening in noise-cancelling mode and 60 hours in normal mode. Well, most users will use it with ANC turned on and to my liking, I also did so by occasionally turning it off when staying at home.

I used it after a full charge for almost a week listening every day for 3-4 hours and simply the wireless headphone kept playing without fail. Yes, it has a wonderful battery life, kudos to Soundcore for that and it even lasts even more than a typical high-end Sony headphone and that’s really good if you are like me who doesn’t like to charge the headphone too often.

It has a modern Type-C port that makes it easier to charge with simply your smartphone charger (except iPhones), I even used my powerbank to charge it and the Life Q35 charges within its said time of 2 hours. Now, because of having this USB Type-C port, it can charge the headphones faster, Soundcore promises up to 4 hours of playtime with just 5 minutes of charge.

Software

Last but not the least, every headphone maker should focus on their software side too and I have seen a lot of premium brands not focussing on this purposefully. Well, for Soundcore, the software side is not a problem at all, you just have to download the Soundcore app from Apple Store or Play Store and you are good to go.

The app pairs the headphone quickly and guides you with that as well, once connected, you can see the status of your Life Q35, whether it’s connected or not, how much battery life remains, toggle between various noise cancellation modes easily.

The app features up to 22 EQ settings, make a personalized white noise soundscape, or update Life Q35’s firmware easily via the app, the UI is simple and straightforward, which you will definitely like. It even has this Superior Sleep mode with various pleasant sounds to play to help you fall asleep and that’s a really cute addition.

Verdict

The Soundcore Life Q35 ANC Wireless Bluetooth Headphone is a very-balanced option, for the price, it offers a lot of features that are very handy for daily music lovers. It focuses on the basics for which you want ANC Wireless Headphones and delivers as expected, it is nearly the perfect option with very less flaws.

It gives healthy competition to the premium Sony headphones and tries to provide that experience without having to break your banks, especially considering the pricing in India. The Audio noise cancellation works great, it has great battery life, the design could have been a bit better still, its comfort and ease of use again make it up.

Overall, if you are looking for a premium Bluetooth Headphone option in the Rs.10k price segment we do recommend going for it. Buy from here: http://fkrt.it/YGS6FkNNNN
