SC East Bengal 1-1 Kerala Blasters: 3 points from a stalemate in the ISL

SC East Bengal continued their winless run in the ISL with another draw against Kerala Blasters FC. Here are the three talking points from the game:

Fair play to both teams

While the first half was open and exciting, the second period started to die down towards the end. East Bengal’s intensity in the second period wore off to let the Blasters into the game. The game had the look and feel of one that was headed only for a draw

Adrian Luna picked up the man of the match award, with the forward putting in yet another well-rounded shift on the pitch.

SC East Bengal rooted to the bottom

Tomislav Mrcela scored the only goal of the game for East Bengal, as they remain at the bottom of the table with 3 points from six games. There is a lot of work to do for Jose Manuel Diaz, as his team seems quite unbalanced.

When focusing on defence, there is a lack of attacking threat. On the other hand, focusing on attack alone leads to high scoring encounters where the defensive line loses all composure. But in terms of last night, goalkeeper Sankar Roy put in a great shift with only one goal let in and a number of good decisions.

Momentum Takes a Hit for Kerala Blasters

On the back of a hard-fought win over Odisha FC, Kerala Blasters were hoping to continue their momentum in the ISL with a win over East Bengal. However, they played out their third draw of the season, much like their opponents, and are now in the middle of the table with 6 points from 5 games.

Their next game sees them go up against Mumbai City FC, while East Bengal take on NorthEast United.
