Prabhas’ Spirit Steps Aside for Salman Khan — Smart Move or Big Miss? New Release Date Revealed!

The Indian box office calendar just witnessed a major shakeup. Prabhas’ highly anticipated cop drama Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has reportedly shifted its release date — and the reason behind it is as dramatic as the film itself. One superstar stepped aside to give another his space, and fans are buzzing about what this means for 2027.

What Happened? The Timeline Explained

Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga have decided to shift the release of their high-octane cop drama Spirit from its original March 5, 2027, slot to December 1, 2027. The reshuffle was allegedly made after Salman Khan locked the Eid 2027 window for his massive actioner with director Vamshi Paidipally, tentatively titled SVC63.

Why Vanga Said No to a Clash

This isn’t just about avoiding box office competition — it’s about giving Spirit the best possible shot at a clean, dominant run. According to industry sources, “Vanga’s films rely heavily on sustained buzz and clean runs. So, the delay is a calculated move, not due to production issues.” The director also wants enough room for editing, background score, and dubbing the film across Hindi, Telugu, and other languages.

There’s also a touch of superstition and strategy baked into the new date. Industry whispers suggest Vanga is eyeing December 1, 2027 — a date that proved extremely profitable for him, as it was on December 1, 2023, that Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor released and became a mega blockbuster. Clearly, Vanga believes in the power of a lucky date!

What About Salman’s SVC63?

Bankrolled by Dil Raju, SVC63 marks the first-ever on-screen collaboration between Salman Khan and actress Nayanthara, and is expected to be a mass entertainer — the perfect festive treat for Eid audiences. With Fahadh Faasil reportedly on board as the villain, this one already has blockbuster written all over it.

Prabhas’ Packed Slate Ahead

Even with Spirit pushed to December 2027, Prabhas fans have plenty to look forward to. Apart from Spirit, Prabhas has Fauzi and Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2 in his pipeline — making him one of the busiest stars in Indian cinema right now.
