Karate Association of India Appoints Yashpal Kalsi as Sports Commission Chairman

Karate Veteran to begin 4-year term from October 2020

New Delhi: November 09, 2020 – India’s apex karate organisation, Karate Association of India has appointed Yashpal Singh Kalsi as its new Sports Commission Chairman. Karate Association of India recently conducted its due elections on 23rd October 2020. It was instructed by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs & the elections were held in Guwahati, Assam.  

42-year-old Yashpal Kalsi brings a wealth of experience to Karate in India, having had a highly accomplished professional career in martial arts with over 30 years of competing as an individual and over 25 years a coach where he has coached several international champions. He has himself played for the Indian team, and most recently chaperoned his students at the Rotterdam cup, Netherlands in 2019.

“The Karate Association of India has played a central part in my life in so many ways, and to be given this opportunity to serve as its new Sports Commission Chairman is a true honour. Karate in India, and worldwide, needs passionate people who can communicate the values of the sport and help spearhead its popularity. Having been an international athlete myself coupled with my experiences as a coach, I believe will give me the right inputs to create a favourable environment for karate as in India. I thank Karate Association of India for appointing me as a Chairman – Sport Commission.” said Yashpal Singh Kalsi.

A Certified World Karate Federation Coach, Yashpal Singh holds a Black Belt 7th Dan.

He started training as a coach at Indian Martial Arts Academy in 1996. In 2004, he was appointed as the representative of Kenpo Karate in India. He is a senior member of the All India Mixed Martial Arts Association, and has been the National Team Coach for Grappling and Karate.

In his highly accomplished professional career, he has won a gold medal in the US Open Karate Championship in 2016 and two bronze medals in 2017 in the same championship. He is a Senior member of All India Mixed Martial Arts Association and Global Authority of Mixed Martial Arts Federations. He is a trained and qualified international MMA referee certified by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation.

He is the head coach to some of the best MMA fighters including Seth Rosario, Priyanka Jeet Toshi, Lipika Uniyal and Sandeep Yadav. He is also a MMA judge and senior referee in the Super Fight League.

He has provided training to India’s elite force, the Black Cat Commandos, works with the Haryana State Police and is also the first Indian Karate coach to have trained athletes across multiple continents including Africa, Europe and Canada.

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics scheduled for next year, this appointment takes on more importance given that 2 more qualifying competitions are yet to be held in India.

Before entering this topic, we just have to go a few more years back. Back in the year 2006, Nokia has made an announcement of this Nokia N95 flagship (definitely a flagship at that time) with a double slider design and that phone has entered the market in March 2007. At about 9 months after the announcement, that phone was launched and definitely it shook the whole smartphone world and made a future statement as well.

If we consider the time, back in the year 2006, when having a mobile phone is a very big thing, the Nokia N95 came with futuristic technologies combined with a music player, a decent camera, an impressive amount of memory, and GPS navigation. This phone ran on Symbian OS. Not only this but also this phone supports the installation of third-party applications. In terms of battery, this phone had a battery of 900mAH.

So almost after 14 years, HMD Global (an organization that creates under the Nokia brand) is thinking about releasing a successor or sequel of the Nokia N95, almost a reincarnation. As of now, we don’t have anything confirmed information about this successor, but we have an engineering prototype that shows what can be the design of the upcoming Nokia N95 v2.0.

As per the prototype of the smartphone, it will definitely have a side slider having the similarity with its older version. After sliding down, it will reveal the speakers, dual cameras, and LED flashes. It is expected to have a rear-mounted physical fingerprint scanner. Another interesting feature will be there, by which you can drag the circular ring of the rear camera outside and can use it as a smartphone kick-stand. As per the images, this phone can be slid in multiple directions for different functions, such as the vertical sliding (sliding upwards) can reveal a speaker at the bottom whereas left sliding is there to reveal the front-facing camera and a loudspeaker. Angular sliding is there as well.

As per some earlier reports, Xiaomi is going to launch another 5G smartphone series: this series is named Redmi Note 9 5G that will include Standard Edition and a High Edition. Recently, another report has come about the pricing of the two smartphones of this series. As per the report, Redmi Note 9 5G powered by the Dimensity 800U will be priced at ¥1000 ~ ₹11,189.94 and the other one with Snapdragon 750 chipset will carry a price tag of ¥1500 ~ ₹16,784.91. From that report, now it is also confirmed that the Redmi Note 9 5G is a tweaked version of the Redmi Mi 10T Lite with 108MP Samsung HM2. So, let’s check out what are the features these two smartphones will bring to its users.

Specifications of Redmi Note 9 5G High End Edition

According to a leaked source, the Redmi Note 9 5G High Edition will sport a 6.67-inches Full HD display with (1080×2400) pixels of screen resolution. The display of this phone also features a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. In terms of dimensions, this phone will measure (165.4×76.8×9) mm and weighs 214 grams.

Regarding the processor information, the source reveals that the Note 9 High Edition will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G SoC. The phone will have a decent battery backup of 4,820 mAh which will be supported by a 33W of fast charging technology. There is no information about the storage configuration of this phone.

Coming to the camera section, the phone comes with a quad rear camera setup at the backside, and this phone could be the world’s first smartphone to feature Samsung’s HM2 108MP sensor. On the front side, the phone may feature a hole-punch cutout on the screen to hold a 16 MP selfie shooter.

Specifications of Redmi Note 9 5G Standard Edition

The Redmi Note 9 standard edition will have a 6.53-inches LCD Full HD display with (1080×2400) pixels of screen resolution. The display of this phone also offers a 20:9 screen to body ratio. In terms of dimension, this phone measures(161.96×77.25×9.2) mm and weighs 200 grams.

Under the hood, the Note 9 Standard Edition will be powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800U. According to the source, this phone houses a decent battery backup of 5000 mAh with 22.5W fast charging support.

This phone comes with a triple rear camera setup, including 48 MP of the main shooter. But there is no information about the other two sensors. On the front side, the phone will have a punch hole cut out at the top left corner of the screen to hold a 13 MP selfie sensor.

Take-Two looks to purchase a stake in Codemaster Group Holdings

Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. is the company that has backed games like Grand Theft Auto and NBA 2K. now the company has offered to buy the British game developer Codemasters Group Holdings Plc for about $974 million. The offer values Codemasters share at 485 pence per share is said to be about 739 million pounds. It is confirmed by Take-Two itself in an official statement.

Codemasters Group is best known for Colin McRae and Formula 1 racing games. The group has also seen its shares soar more than 68% this year. The sudden increase in the industries share is attributed to the changes brought forth by the pandemic.  The pandemic has brought forth a surge in video-game sales to customers stuck at home during lockdowns.

Take-Two said in its official statement, “Take-Two believes that the combination of Take-Two and Codemasters would bring together two world-class interactive entertainment portfolios, with a highly complementary fit between Take-Two’s 2K publishing label and Codemasters in the racing genre”.

According to sources, Codemasters fiscal 2021 sales is expected to be of about 120 million pounds ($158 million). Whereas, Take-Two’s 2021 sales are expected to total $3.13 billion.

Take-Two revenue results posted earlier exceeded expectations by analysts. The gains are being accredited by sales of the popular NBA 2K and Grand Theft Auto video games. It also issued an upbeat outlook for the year.

Chief Executive Officer Strauss Zelnick said, “It is clear the world has started to return to normal in the last few months; if anything, we saw further engagement with our titles”.

The video game industry has seen an increase in profit in the post-pandemic world. As to whether the acquisition by Take-Two will get a green signal remains to be seen.
