Confirmed Device List

Rollout Strategy & Timeline

It’s expected to land on the Nothing Phone (3) first, followed by Nothing Phone (3a) series, CMF Phone 2 Pro and the rest. The staged approach ensures thorough testing before wider deployment, with all eligible Nothing phones expected to get the update by the end of 2025.

The Nothing Phone (2) and CMF Phone 1 will receive this as their final major OS update, marking the end of their software support lifecycle after three years of updates.

Expected Android 16 Features

While Nothing hasn’t detailed specific OS 4.0 features, Android 16’s foundation brings several enhancements. These include improved privacy controls, enhanced notification management, and performance optimizations that should integrate seamlessly with Nothing’s Glyph Interface.

The update will likely enhance the signature transparent design elements, potentially offering new Glyph patterns and customization options that leverage Android 16’s expanded theming capabilities.

Community Anticipation

Nothing’s community has been actively discussing desired features including enhanced Glyph functionality, improved battery optimization, and more intuitive notification systems. The company’s track record with Nothing OS 3.0 suggests they’ll blend Android 16’s core improvements with their unique design language.

Given Nothing’s commitment to timely updates, the rollout should be more predictable than previous Android versions, benefiting from the company’s growing experience with large-scale software deployments.
