WhatsApp appears to be preparing to retire Meta AI as a chat assistant and replace it with Muse, Meta’s personal AI agent. Meta AI would become read-only on a date that is not yet filled in. The details come from app strings, so nothing is official.
A New Face for Meta’s AI
Meta unveiled Muse in September as a personal AI agent that works around the clock on your goals. Mark Zuckerberg said users choose which apps and services it can access, and it can disconnect them at any time.
What the Code Reportedly Shows
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Replacement | Muse takes over as your AI agent |
| Meta AI | Becomes read-only on a date still shown as a placeholder |
| Meaning of read-only | You can see old Meta AI chats but can’t chat with it any more |
| What Muse does | Manages emails, books tables and more |
| Memory | You can import memory from another AI assistant so Muse knows you from day one |
| Integrations | Connects to other apps and services through connectors |
| In-app prompt | “You are now eligible for Muse, your new AI agent” |
Background
Meta moved its assistant from Llama to its in-house Muse family this year. Muse Spark, the model behind the Meta AI app, launched on April 8 and gradually appears across Meta’s products. This change would bring the newer agent into the chat app used by hundreds of millions of Indians.
The Privacy Question
An agent that acts for you needs access to your data. A separate report said code hints that Muse may reach end-to-end encrypted chats after users enter a PIN, but Meta has not commented. If that happens, it would matter that chats with an assistant are not covered by the same encryption as private chats. Check the settings and permissions before connecting anything.
