Summer 2026 just got a whole lot more exciting. Netflix has officially confirmed that Office Romance — a brand-new romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez and Ted Lasso‘s Brett Goldstein — is dropping on June 5, 2026. Written by the duo behind one of TV’s most beloved shows, directed by the man who gave us Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, and filmed on the streets of Hoboken, New Jersey, this one has all the ingredients of a summer smash.

What’s About Office Romance?
Jackie Cruz (Lopez) is the President and CEO of Air Cruz — sharp, successful, and strict about one rule above all: no workplace relationships. Then Daniel Blanchflower (Goldstein) walks into her office as a new hire, and suddenly that policy starts to feel a lot less ironclad.

The genius here is the power flip. Lopez plays the boss, Goldstein plays the underling — a dynamic the writers leaned into deliberately. Goldstein noted that workplace relationships are “inherently loaded,” and that tension between professionalism and feelings is exactly where comedy and romance thrive. Lopez herself called the script “a new kind of romantic comedy that really speaks to the times.” Director Ol Parker teased it pushes the envelope a little further than audiences might expect from a Lopez film — which, frankly, sounds like exactly what the genre needs right now.
There’s also a lovely bit of casting nostalgia: Edward James Olmos reunites with Lopez as her on-screen father, nearly 30 years after they shared the screen in the 1997 biopic Selena.
A Cast Stacked Top to Bottom
Beyond the leads, the ensemble is genuinely impressive — Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, Jodie Whittaker, Rick Hoffman, Amy Sedaris, and Ali Stroker are just a few of the names filling out this rom-com world. Why It Could Be Huge?
The Ted Lasso pedigree alone is enough to get people interested. Goldstein and co-writer Joe Kelly don’t do lazy storytelling — they built one of the most emotionally intelligent comedies of the last decade. Pair that DNA with Lopez’s rom-com instincts and Ol Parker’s proven track record with big, crowd-pleasing movies, and Office Romance looks like Netflix’s strongest original film bet of the summer.
