Most Fifties in IPL: Shikhar Dhawan, the stylish left-handed opener, is on a record-breaking spree in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. In a recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Dhawan smashed his 50th IPL fifty, becoming only the third player in the history of the tournament to achieve this feat. The match took place at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata on May 8, 2023.

PBKS vs KKR: A Hard-fought Encounter

In the match, Punjab Kings (PBKS) batted first, and after losing some early wickets, Dhawan held the innings together with his 57-run knockoff 47 balls, consisting of nine fours and a six. With this innings, Dhawan moved to the third spot for most fifties in the IPL, behind Virat Kohli and David Warner, who have 50 and 59 fifties, respectively.

PBKS finished their innings with a competitive total of 179/7, thanks to some late cameos by Shahrukh Khan and Harpreet Brar. In reply, KKR fell short of the target, managing only 161/8 in their 20 overs, and Punjab Kings won the match by 18 runs.

Dhawan has been a stalwart of the IPL ever since he made his debut in the tournament in 2011. With 50 fifties to his name, he has scored 6592 runs in 214 matches, with an impressive average of 35.63 and a strike rate of 127.14. He has also scored two centuries in the tournament, with his highest score being 106.

The legendary Virat Kohli is up next with 50 fifties in 226 innings. In addition to this, the former RCB skipper has also scored 5 hundreds, out of which 4 came during a single season. Kohli has scored 7,044 runs in the IPL with an average of 38.16 and a strike rate of 130.47.

3. Shikhar Dhawan – 50 Fifties

Shikhar Dhawan, the stylish left-handed opener, is on a record-breaking spree in the ongoing IPL 2023 season.
