Love Insurance Kompany Review & Box Office: Did Vignesh Shivan’s Sci-Fi Rom-Com Do Justice to Pradeep Ranganathan’s ₹100 Crore Legacy?

Pradeep Ranganathan has built one of Tamil cinema’s most bankable Gen Z streaks in recent memory. Every film — Love Today, Dragon, Dude — crossed ₹100 crore worldwide. So when director Vignesh Shivan stepped in with Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), all eyes were on whether that golden run would continue. The answer is complicated, fascinating, and very worth discussing.

Love Insurance Kompany: Film at a Glance

What Is LIK About?

Set in 2040, Love Insurance Kompany imagines a world where people fall in love through a dating app called LIK — one that manages relationships like insurance policies, complete with predetermined conditions and breakup clauses. Pradeep plays Vibe Vassey, a man who believes in organic, old-school love, while Krithi Shetty plays Dheema, a woman who places complete trust in the app to find her soulmate. The premise is sharp, timely, and tailor-made for a generation that knows both the magic of real connection and the exhaustion of dating apps. Box Office: The ₹100 Crore Streak Ends — But the Film Still Delivers

LIK earned approximately ₹9.93 crore worldwide on its opening day, registering the second-highest opening day in Pradeep Ranganathan’s career after Dude, which had opened at around ₹12 crore. The film’s final worldwide gross stood at ₹60.47 crore, with ₹49.37 crore in India and ₹11.10 crore overseas. The WeekIndia TV News

Produced on a budget of ₹60 crore, LIK recovered only 42% of its costs through theatrical collections in India — making it the first Pradeep film to miss the ₹100 crore mark. Vignesh Shivan reportedly said he had “imagined applause” for the film, and while the theatrical run was modest, the OTT reception suggests the applause may yet come.

OTT Verdict: A Second Life on Prime Video

After premiering on Amazon Prime Video on May 6, 2026, LIK quickly caught viewer attention, with fans calling it “worth a watch” — though some found it “too predictable and too preachy.” The film blends witty dialogue, impressive visual effects, and a crisp runtime of approximately two hours and thirty-seven minutes.
