LEGO One Piece on Netflix: A Cute Season 3 Recap That Plays It Too Safe

Picture Usopp telling the Straw Hats’ greatest adventures, and everyone around him rolling their eyes at his exaggerations. That’s the charming setup of Netflix’s LEGO One Piece special. The question is whether it’s a treasure or just a tidy refresher.

What Works?

The best part is the voice cast. The live-action actors return, and Jacob Romero’s Usopp brings a manic, storyteller energy that fits the format perfectly. The running gag of the other Straw Hats interrupting whenever Usopp bends the truth is a genuine highlight.

The visuals are decent too. Atomic Cartoons blends LEGO and One Piece with lively action, and the best jokes use the bricks themselves, such as Buggy literally coming apart or a montage told through a LEGO instruction manual.

What Doesn’t?

Here’s the catch. A narrator famous for wild embellishments should have led to a wildly creative retelling. Instead, the special sticks too closely to the live-action story. The reviewer felt many changes looked like time-saving choices rather than creative ones. When it does break away, like Chopper using Usopp as a weapon on Drum Island, it shines. Sadly, those moments are rare.

Should You Watch?

It’s a friendly way to introduce younger viewers to the franchise or to jog your memory before season 3 arrives next year. Just don’t expect fresh insights or big surprises. It also doubles as a tie-in for the LEGO One Piece sets.
