For decades, LEGO has kept its bricks family-friendly. Now a zombie-filled Sanctum Sanctorum is about to change that, at least a little.
LEGO and Marvel have revealed Marvel What If…? Doctor Strange Supreme, a new set arriving on 1 January 2027. On paper it’s a What If…? set, which makes sense because Strange Supreme was a fan favorite in the Disney+ series.
But look closer at the minifigures and the zombie vibes are hard to miss.
What’s in the Box?
The set recreates a battle at the Sanctum Sanctorum, with zombies on one side and living heroes on the other. Six minifigures come included:
- Doctor Strange Supreme
- FRIDAY
- Zombie Hunter Spider-Man
- Red Queen (the zombified Wanda Maximoff)
- Zombie Namor
- Zombie Thor

| Why It’s Historic | First LEGO Marvel set tied to a TV-MA Disney+ project |
Why This Is a Big Deal?
Here’s the clever part. A zombie Namor didn’t appear in the original What If…? zombies episode. He showed up in Marvel Zombies, which was rated TV-MA for its heavy violence. So the set clearly draws from both.

That makes it LEGO’s first Marvel set based on a TV-MA Disney+ project. It’s also only the second LEGO set from any TV-MA title across all franchises. The first was the Creel House set from Stranger Things Season 5.
LEGO has long kept a family-friendly policy, and it has still never made a set based on an R-rated movie. Marketing this one as part of the What If…? line looks like a smart way to work around that rule.
Mature Characters Have Appeared Before
LEGO isn’t entirely new to this territory. It has released minifigures of Deadpool, the Punisher and Daredevil, though those came in sets based on PG-13 or TV-14 titles. It also made an Echo minifigure in her TV-MA series costume.
The difference now is that an entire set is tied to a mature-rated show.
Our Take
This feels like a test run. If fans respond well, more mature-rated sets could follow. There’s clearly a market for older collectors who grew up with these characters and want something edgier on the shelf.
For $99.99, you get a mid-sized set with a collector-friendly minifigure lineup. If you’re a Strange fan, or just love zombie Marvel, it’s one to watch. To learn how the brand got started, see the Wikipedia page for LEGO.
