Lallianzuala Chhangte Set to Join Mohun Bagan in Blockbuster Free Transfer: Know the details here!

Indian football’s transfer window just delivered its biggest twist yet. Mumbai City FC captain Lallianzuala Chhangte, one of the country’s most electrifying wingers, is set to swap the Islanders’ blue for Mohun Bagan’s green and maroon in a deal reportedly worth over ₹6.2 crore.

The Deal in Detail

Chhangte has agreed a three-year contract with the Mariners after Mumbai City agreed to release him on a free transfer, despite a year still remaining on his existing deal. The move, still subject to a medical, sees him become the third Mumbai City player in recent times to make the switch to Kolkata, following in the footsteps of Apuia and Mehtab Singh.

A Career Built on Big Moments

Known widely as the “Mizo Flash,” Chhangte’s rise has been anything but ordinary. After coming through the DSK Shivajians academy and turning out for NorthEast United, Delhi Dynamos and Chennaiyin FC, his 2022 move to Mumbai City transformed him into one of the league’s most decorated Indian talents — including a record eight-match scoring streak that remains unmatched in ISL history.

Why This Move Matters

For Mohun Bagan, already busy this window with signings like Rahul Bheke and Dejan Dražić alongside new head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis, landing a player of Chhangte’s pedigree without paying a transfer fee is a major statement of intent ahead of the 2026-27 season.
