Kolkata Derby Rescheduled: Changes in ISL 2023 Fixture You Need to Know!

The Indian Super League (ISL) 2023-24 season was set to kick off with a bang with the Kolkata Derby, featuring the iconic clash between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. However, recent developments have led to a rescheduling of this much-awaited fixture, along with some other changes in the ISL schedule.

Let’s have a look at what you need to know: Kolkata Derby Rescheduled

The Kolkata Derby originally scheduled for October 28 has been postponed. The Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the organizer of the ISL, made this announcement. Unfortunately, the new date for this intense rivalry clash has not been confirmed yet.

The reason behind this rescheduling appears to be logistical challenges in organizing the match in Kolkata on the original date. With multiple events happening in the city, including a cricket match between Bangladesh and the Netherlands and the arrival of the Pakistan cricket team, security arrangements would be a significant concern. Additionally, Durga Puja festivities and delayed Durga idol immersion rituals could further complicate matters.

While the ISL has taken the wise decision to ensure the safety and security of matchgoers, the new date for the Kolkata Derby is yet to be officially announced. Fans will eagerly await this information to mark their calendars.

The rescheduling of the Kolkata Derby has also affected other ISL fixtures. East Bengal’s clash against FC Goa, originally set for October 21 in Kolkata, has been relocated to Bhubaneswar. The match will now take place at the Kalinga Stadium with a kickoff time of 5:30 PM on the same day.
