iPhone 18 Pro Price in India vs the World: How Much More Do You Pay?

Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro has landed, and once again the question every Indian buyer asks first is the same one: why does the same phone cost so much more here than almost anywhere else? With the 256GB variant priced at ₹1,64,900 in India, the gap between what Indians pay and what buyers in the US, UAE, and Japan pay tells its own story.

Currency conversions are indicative, based on prevailing exchange rates, and exclude local financing offers or carrier subsidies available in some markets.

The India Premium, Explained

Strip away the rupee sign and the story is simple: an Indian buyer pays close to ₹50,000 more than an American buyer for the exact same iPhone 18 Pro. Even against UAE and Japan — two markets that already carry their own import costs — India remains the most expensive stop on the list.

Three things drive this every single year:

GST at 18% adds a substantial slice to the base price before the phone even reaches a store shelf.

Import duty on components still applies to several high-value parts, even as Apple expands local assembly in India.

Currency and distribution costs get layered on top, since India imports significant volumes of finished units and components priced in dollars.

None of this is unique to the iPhone 18 Pro — it’s the same formula that has made every Apple flagship costlier in India than in the US for over a decade.

Should You Buy the iPhone 18 Pro in India?

For most buyers, the honest answer is yes — importing a US or UAE unit brings its own risks: no local warranty, no Apple India service support, and complications with GST invoicing if anything goes wrong. The premium you pay in India buys you AppleCare access, authorised service centres, and a warranty that actually holds up.

If you’re tracking the best time to buy, festive-season bank offers and exchange bonuses in India typically bring the effective price down by ₹8,000–₹15,000 within a few months of launch.
