Apple has unveiled its new iPad mini, delivering one of the biggest upgrades to its compact tablet lineup. The latest model introduces an 8.5-inch OLED display, the A20 Pro chip built on a 2nm process, improved AI performance and IP67 water and dust resistance.
The new iPad mini retains its portable form factor while adding display and performance improvements aimed at gamers, readers, creative professionals and users who prefer a smaller tablet. In India, prices start at ₹82,900 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model.
New iPad Mini Price in India and Availability

Apple has announced three storage options, with customers able to choose between standard glass and a nano-texture display on selected configurations.
| Configuration | Price in India |
|---|---|
| 128GB Wi-Fi | ₹82,900 |
| 256GB Wi-Fi | ₹94,900 |
| 512GB Wi-Fi | ₹1,18,900 |
| 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular | ₹1,00,900 |
| 256GB Wi-Fi + Cellular | ₹1,12,900 |
| 512GB Wi-Fi + Cellular | ₹1,36,900 |
The nano-texture glass option is available for the 256GB and 512GB models at higher prices. These versions cost ₹1,06,900 and ₹1,30,900, respectively, for Wi-Fi configurations.
In the US, the tablet starts at $699 for Wi-Fi and $849 for Wi-Fi + Cellular. Pre-orders in India open on October 28 at 10:40 PM IST, while availability begins on November 6.
Customers can check the official Apple India store for configurations and availability.

8.5-Inch OLED Display With 1,200 Nits Brightness
The biggest upgrade is the new 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, which replaces the previous generation’s LCD panel. OLED technology enables deeper blacks, stronger contrast and more vivid colours, improving the experience of watching videos, reading and playing games.
Apple claims peak HDR brightness of up to 1,200 nits, alongside a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio. The display can also dim to just one nit for comfortable viewing in darker environments.
A nano-texture glass option is available for users who frequently work in bright conditions, helping reduce reflections and glare.
However, the display supports a refresh rate of up to 60Hz rather than ProMotion, so buyers seeking a high-refresh-rate screen should keep that limitation in mind.
A20 Pro Chip Brings Faster AI Performance
The new iPad mini is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2nm process. Apple claims up to 4.5 times faster AI performance, up to 2.7 times faster graphics performance and up to 60% faster multithreaded CPU performance compared with the previous generation.
The chip includes a seven-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, designed to improve graphics-intensive applications and on-device AI workloads. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading also benefit supported games and 3D applications.
These improvements could make the compact tablet more capable for creative work, multitasking and demanding games.

Thinner Design, Better Audio and Improved Cameras
Measuring just 5.4mm thick, the new iPad mini features a slimmer design and comes in Midnight and Starlight finishes. It also receives an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance under controlled laboratory conditions.
Apple has introduced an Acoustic Display system with specially designed woofers and hidden tweeters, delivering stronger bass and clearer audio without conventional speaker openings.
The tablet includes a 12MP Center Stage front camera positioned on the landscape edge for video calls, alongside a 12MP rear camera that supports 4K video recording at up to 60fps.
Connectivity upgrades include Wi-Fi 7 through Apple’s N1 networking chip, while cellular models feature the C2 modem. The tablet also supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil USB-C.
Is the New iPad Mini Worth Considering?
The OLED display, faster processor and improved durability make the new iPad mini a substantial upgrade for users who want flagship features in a compact device. Its portability could be especially appealing for gaming, digital note-taking, reading and travel.
However, the starting price of ₹82,900 places it firmly in the premium tablet segment. Buyers should also consider the 60Hz display and the additional cost of cellular connectivity or nano-texture glass.
Bottom line: Apple’s new iPad mini combines an OLED display, A20 Pro performance and a thinner design in its smallest tablet. With Indian pre-orders opening on October 28, it could appeal to users who prioritise portability without wanting to compromise on performance.
