According to a report from Movies Singapore, Suriya is in talks with Mathimaran, director of Mandaadi, for his 49th film. Tentatively called Suriya49, it’s said to be a grand coastal action drama, likely produced by Kalaippuli S. Thanu.

Nothing is official yet, so treat this as a rumor for now.

Suriya’s Lineup

Project	Director	Status
Vishwanath & Sons	Venky Atluri	Released (last seen)
Scene (Suriya47)	Jithu Madhavan	Releases 6 November 2026
SuriyaXHombale (Suriya48)	TJ Gnanavel	Filming
Suriya49	Mathimaran (reported)	Unconfirmed
Vaadivaasal	Vetrimaaran	Delayed, still “on the cards”

The Projects, Explained

1. Vishwanath & Sons (released). This romantic drama stars Suriya as Sanjay Vishwanath, an industrialist who becomes a father through surrogacy. He forms a close bond with Maddy, a medical student played by Mamitha Baiju. Despite their age gap, feelings develop, but they don’t end up together. Years later she returns, leaving the ending open. The cast also includes Radikaa Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon.

2. Scene (Diwali release). This is the one to watch first. An action comedy by Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan, it follows a former officer who must track down someone tied to his old identity. With no team to help, he recruits a group of unconventional people. Nazriya Nazim Fahadh and Naslen co-star, and Jyotika and Suriya produce it under Zhagaram Studios.

3. SuriyaXHombale (Suriya48). Directed by Jai Bhim filmmaker TJ Gnanavel and produced by Hombale Films, this film is already in production. Kayadu Lohar and Yogi Babu are in the cast. It’s billed as a big-scale project.

4. Suriya49 (rumored). A coastal action drama with Mathimaran. If it happens, it would mark a shift toward large, rooted action stories.

5. Vaadivaasal (delayed). Suriya and Kalaippuli S. Thanu were once set to work together on this Vetrimaaran film. It has faced long delays, but the producer says it’s still alive.

Why Fans Should Care?
