India Complete Perfect 3-0 Sweep: Jaiswal’s Ton Headlines Dominant Chennai Win

Afghanistan never really had an answer. India closed out their home series with a ninth-wicket-style stroll in Chennai, sealing a clean 3-0 sweep as Yashasvi Jaiswal struck his second century of the campaign and Prasidh Krishna ran through the Afghan top order. If you missed the chase, here’s everything that happened at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

How Afghanistan Fell Apart

Prasidh Krishna set the tone inside the first ten overs, ripping out four of the top order in his opening spell before returning later to finish with a maiden five-wicket haul — figures of 5 for 23. Afghanistan’s innings could easily have collapsed entirely had captain Hashmatullah Shahidi not dug in for a gritty 102 off 131 balls, the lone real resistance in an otherwise one-sided innings. Gurnoor Brar and Prince Yadav chipped in with a wicket apiece as Afghanistan folded for 218.

India’s Chase: Over Before It Felt Like It Started

Chasing 219, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal made it look almost unfair. The pair put on 165 for the opening wicket before Rohit fell for a fluent 79 off 69 balls. That barely slowed things down — Jaiswal cruised to his century, finishing unbeaten on 110 off 86 balls, while Shreyas Iyer wrapped things up with a quickfire cameo as India crossed the line inside 29 overs.

This continues a red-hot stretch for Jaiswal, who’s been in similarly destructive form across formats — our look at his explosive IPL 2026 season for Rajasthan Royals is worth a revisit if you want the full arc of his rise. Rohit, meanwhile, keeps adding to an already staggering ODI résumé — earlier this season he became the all-time leading six-hitter in ODI history, and Saturday’s innings was another reminder why bowlers still fear him at the top.

The Series in Full

The Lucknow demolition — Gill’s 154 and Ishan Kishan’s 125 powering India to 402 — had already made the series result feel like a formality. Chennai simply confirmed it.

The Bottom Line

A whitewash that never really felt in doubt, this series doubled as a timely confidence boost ahead of India’s upcoming tours of Ireland and England. Jaiswal’s continued red-hot form at the top, paired with Prasidh Krishna finally translating raw pace into a five-wicket haul, gives the team selectors plenty to like as the calendar turns toward a busier international stretch.
