India U-15 Starts FIFA U-15 World Cup Campaign With 4-2 Win Over Laos

India’s young Blue Colts have begun their FIFA U-15 World Cup journey with a bang. They beat Laos 4-2 in their Group K opener at the inaugural FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival Azerbaijan 2026, played at the Hovsan Competition Complex in Baku on October 24.

Match Summary

How It Unfolded

India started fast, with Deepak Singh Arambam involved in both early goals. He set up captain Macdonnish for the opener, then won the ball that fell to Lalremruatfela for the second. Laos hit back almost immediately through a long-range strike from Xayyasone, and Siliseng levelled with a first-time shot after the restart.

India raised their intensity and finished strongly. Lalremruatfela struck again from outside the box to make it 3-2, then Sarkar scored from just inside the halfway line to seal the win. Khel Now reports it as India’s first three points at a FIFA tournament.

The Format

The tournament features 189 national teams in 32 groups. Matches are played eight-a-side, in two 20-minute halves, with rolling substitutions.
