Ek Din Bombed So Hard at the Box Office, Even Loveyapa Looks Like a Hit Now

Aamir Khan’s production house has had its share of highs, but Ek Din — his latest venture starring son Junaid Khan and fan-favourite Sai Pallavi — has officially become one of Bollywood’s most painful 2026 flops. Let’s break down exactly how bad it got.

Ek Din Box Office Collections — Final Numbers

The Sunil Panday directorial romantic drama collected around Rs. 4 crore nett across its 10-day theatrical run, with virtually no momentum left to push it further. A few lakh rupees may trickle in before it exits cinemas, but the damage is done.

What Went Wrong?

Honestly, almost everything. The film met with average to poor word-of-mouth, combined with a low-key buzz and the baggage of being a remake. Audiences simply didn’t show up, and no amount of star power — not even Sai Pallavi’s loyal fanbase — could save it. ]

What makes this sting more is the comparison. Ek Din couldn’t even match Junaid Khan’s debut film Loveyapa at the box office — itself a dud — and will end up collecting around 50% of what Loveyapa managed in India. That’s a sobering stat for a production backed by Aamir Khan.

The concept of box office collections as a performance metric matters deeply in Bollywood, where theatrical success directly impacts a film’s OTT valuation, satellite rights, and future greenlights — making this result doubly damaging for the franchise.

What’s Next for Junaid and Sai Pallavi?

Despite the disappointment, both leads have big projects lined up. All eyes are now on Junaid Khan’s next, Ragini 3, and Sai Pallavi’s high-stakes mythological epic Ramayana. Sai Pallavi especially has everything to prove — and gain — with Ramayana, which is arguably the most anticipated Hindi film in years.

The Bigger Picture for Bollywood 2026

With competition from big regional films and OTT convenience, mid-budget romantic dramas without strong content are struggling to justify theatrical runs.
