How Did Season 1 Perform?
Phenomenally. Devil May Cry racked up 5.3 million views in its very first week on Netflix , landing it firmly in the global Top 10 and fast-tracking a renewal. The show follows Dante, a half-demon hunter for hire who unknowingly holds the fate of both the human and demon worlds in his hands — a premise ripped straight from the beloved Capcom game series.
The series was a long time coming. The Devil May Cry anime was first teased by Adi Shankar back in October 2018, making its 2025 arrival nearly seven years in the making. The wait, for most fans, was absolutely worth it.
What’s Coming in Season 2?
Season 2 of Devil May Cry is confirmed for May 12, 2026, and the stakes have never been higher. After defeating the White Rabbit, Dante was tricked by Mary and put on ice at a DARKCOM facility — leaving the demon world in chaos. Meanwhile, Dante’s twin brother Vergil has emerged, very much alive, and has embraced his demonic heritage, now serving as one of Hell’s most formidable commanders.
While Dante is frozen, Vice President William Baines has launched a full-scale war into Hell — setting off a conflict not seen in millennia and threatening to unify every demon against humanity.
The Devil May Cry franchise is one of Capcom’s most beloved gaming IPs, and the anime is proving to be its most ambitious multimedia extension yet.
