Devil May Cry Season 3 Is Happening on Netflix — and Showrunner Adi Shankar Just Revealed It Was Dante’s Inferno All Along

This was never just a video game adaptation. It was a trilogy disguised as a TV show. And now, the final chapter is confirmed.

Netflix has officially renewed Devil May Cry for a third and final season — subtitled Paradiso — completing what showrunner Adi Shankar has called “The Force Edge Saga.”

Devil May Cry: Series Overview

The Numbers That Made Season 3 a No-Brainer

The renewal isn’t a surprise when you look at the performance. Season 1 racked up 21.7 million views in 2025, and Season 2 — which dropped on May 12, 2026 — had already accumulated 6.4 million views in just its first two weeks. Across both seasons, the anime has spent four weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10, making it one of the streamer’s most consistent anime performers.

The Master Plan: Dante’s Divine Comedy with Guns

Here’s what makes this renewal so satisfying — Shankar had the entire structure mapped out from day one, drawing directly from Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy, one of the greatest works in literary history:

Shankar described the three-season arc as “a movie trilogy disguised as a television series” — and promised Season 3 will do something very different from a conventional TV finale.

Where Season 2 Left Things

The Season 2 finale delivered a gut punch. Dante was pushed back through the rift to Earth, while Vergil chose to remain in Hell — sealing the rift behind him and declaring it his domain as he sets his sights on challenging Mundus for control of Makai. Meanwhile, Lady discovers her own father has been operating as a double agent within Mundus’ court. Season 3 promises a bitter, high-stakes reunion between the two brothers — and Shankar has confirmed that Vergil’s terrifying stillness and restrained menace will be at the heart of it.
