Dante isn’t done yet — not by a long shot. Netflix’s Devil May Cry has reportedly been renewed for a third season, with production already in motion behind the scenes, and the announcement landed before most fans had even pressed play on the freshly released Season 2. That kind of institutional confidence is rare in the streaming era, and it says everything about where this show stands.

So Is Season 3 Actually Happening?
Netflix has not officially announced whether Devil May Cry will return with Season 3. However, according to a report by MP1st, production for Season 3 is “already in motion behind the scenes.”
Netflix initially waited a week after Season 1 debuted in April 2025 before renewing it for Season 2 — but this time around, it didn’t even need to see viewership numbers first. That’s a massive leap in confidence from the streamer.
Why Netflix Believes in This Show
The numbers make it easy to understand. Devil May Cry debuted at number 4 on Netflix’s global top ten list with 5.3 million views in its first three days, reaching the top 10 in 87 individual countries and earning a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes. flickeringmyth
The show’s impact also extends beyond the screen. In June 2025, Devil May Cry 5 exceeded 10 million sales, with a Capcom report in September 2025 attributing that boost largely to renewed interest driven by the Netflix series. When a show moves game sales at that scale, studios — and streamers — take serious notice. Comic Basics

What Happened in Season 2?
Season 2, released on May 12, 2026, returns with demon hunter Dante confronting his estranged twin brother Vergil — who was revealed to be alive in the Season 1 finale — with a notable voice cast including Johnny Yong Bosch and Robbie Daymond.
The latest season raised the stakes significantly, with Dante confronting Vergil and the battle against Argosax threatening both Earth and Makai. By the finale, several major storylines remain unresolved, leaving the door wide open for Season 3.
Adi Shankar’s Vision for the Future
Creator Adi Shankar has made it clear this show is far from a formula. Speaking with Collider in February 2026, he said: “I dislike when successful shows turn into comfort food. Devil May Cry won’t be TV that loops. My mission for Season 2 was to capture the feeling of a 2000s film franchise entry where the audience can’t predict the next turn.” Yahoo!
That creative ambition is exactly why fans — and Netflix — keep coming back.
