Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Finally Confirms Its Crunchyroll Streaming Date

A year after breaking box office records, Demon Slayer fans finally have a date circled on their calendars. Crunchyroll has officially confirmed that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle Part 1 begins streaming on July 28, 2026, at 8:00 AM PT, ending nearly a year of waiting since the film’s Japanese theatrical debut.

What’s Officially Confirmed

The announcement came straight from Crunchyroll’s own newsroom during a Demon Slayer Celebration panel at Anime Expo 2026.

Why This Release Has Taken So Long

Infinity Castle Part 1 didn’t follow a typical theatrical-to-streaming timeline, and there’s a good reason for that. The film stayed in Japanese theaters for nine straight months, an almost unheard-of run that speaks to just how big this release became, even briefly returning to Japanese cinemas for a re-release in June 2026 after its first theatrical run had already ended. That extended theatrical life is also why the film is only now heading to home video in Japan, with the streaming release timed to line up closely behind it.

There was a false start along the way too: a Prime Video Canada listing briefly showed a July 29 date before it was pulled and confirmed as an error, which only added to the anticipation heading into the real announcement at Anime Expo.

The Bigger Picture for the Franchise

Infinity Castle Part 1 is the opening chapter of Ufotable’s three-film finale adapting the climactic arc of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga, with director Haruo Sotozaki returning to close out the story he’s shaped since the series began. The film has already been recognised as Film of the Year at this year’s Anime Awards, and its box office run puts it among the highest-grossing anime films ever released, alongside earlier franchise milestones like Mugen Train.

For a franchise that has built one of the largest global streaming audiences in anime, moving this quickly from theatrical run to Crunchyroll signals real confidence from both Crunchyroll and rights-holder Aniplex that the streaming release won’t cannibalise future theatrical windows for Part 2, which is currently in development with no release date yet.

The Takeaway

Mark July 28 on your calendar: Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 streams on Crunchyroll worldwide (with a few regional exceptions) at 8 AM PT, in both subbed and dubbed formats. After a year of waiting, one of anime’s biggest theatrical events finally comes home.
