A Cult Hit Worth the Wait

Delicious in Dungeon — a fantasy adventure series where a party of dungeon explorers survives by cooking the monsters they encounter — became an unexpected Netflix hit after its January 2024 debut. Produced by Studio Trigger, the studio behind Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the show spent five weeks in Netflix’s global top 10, racking up nearly 12 million viewing hours and over 18 million total views to date.

The renewal announcement didn’t come from Netflix directly but from the show’s own social channels, with the official account thanking fans for their continued support and confirming the second season is now in production.

Why the Story Still Has Room to Grow

The source manga, which wrapped its run in September 2023, runs deep enough to fuel several more seasons — by rough estimate, Season 1 only covered material through the middle of the eighth volume. That leaves plenty of story left to adapt, easing concerns that the long gap between seasons might mean a rushed or incomplete conclusion.

English voice cast member Damien Haas, who voices lead character Laios, publicly celebrated the show’s success alongside the announcement, reflecting the strong fan-actor bond the series has built.

Studio Trigger’s growing anime slate reflects a broader trend of Japanese animation studios expanding into global streaming — a shift well documented on Wikipedia’s overview of anime.
