Shikhar Dhawan posts emotional message after being ruled out of the World Cup.

Shikhar Dhawan 16b6f6706ec large Shikhar Dhawan posts emotional message after being ruled out of the World Cup.

India opener Shikhar Dhawan has been ruled out of the 2019 edition of the World Cup. As he is not in a position to recover in time.

Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan was Wednesday ruled out of the ongoing World Cup and replaced by young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant after failing to make enough recovery in a fresh assessment of his thumb fracture.

Dhawan, 33, picked up the injury on his left thumb during the June 9 clash against Australia in London. He was initially ruled out of three games — against

  • Pakistan (June 16),
  • Afghanistan (June 22) and
  • the West Indies (June 27).

“Shikhar Dhawan has fractured the base of the metacarpal (bone) of his left hand. His hand will remain in cast till mid July which rules him out of the ICC 2019 World Cup,” team’s administrative manager Sunil Subramanium told mediapersons.

He was sent back home on wednesday

Shikhar Dhawan was always running against time to be fit for the match against England, scheduled for June 30 in Birmingham.

Shikhar Dhawan 16b45a66ae6 large 1 Shikhar Dhawan posts emotional message after being ruled out of the World Cup.

“Dhawan was never going to be fit in time. However, the team management was reluctant to name a replacement. It was never on same page with selectors who wanted to announce an official replacement right after his (Dhawan’s) diagnosis,” said a source privy to the developments.

Pant was brought in as cover for Dhawan. After the team management decided to wait on the senior opener’s recovery. But assessment of the injury this week did not throw up encouraging results.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 has approved Rishabh Pant as a replacement player for Shikhar Dhawan in India’s squad for the remainder of the tournament, a statement from the global body said.

What perhaps prompted the team management to finally make an annoucement. on Dhawan’s injury was the fact that even Bhuvneshwar Kumar is injured.

India would have had only 13 players to select from in the Afghanistan game on June 22. if Pant was not brought in as a replacement. Bhuvneshwar is out of three matches with a hamstring niggle.

Williamson’s ton virtually knocked South Africa out of World Cup 2019, England & Wales

107465001 williamsongetty Williamson's ton virtually knocked South Africa out of World Cup 2019, England & Wales

Kane Williamson (106*) helped New Zealand beat South Africa by four wickets.

Skipper Kane Williamson struck a composed unbeaten century as New Zealand virtually knocked South Africa out of the World Cup with a four-wicket victory in a last-over finish on Wednesday.

New Zealand won the toss and opted to field in the rain truncated match. New Zealand’s bowling unit fired in unison as they restricted South Africa for 241/6.

Due to the wet ground outfield the match was reduced to 49 overs.

Chasing a target of 242 in 49 overs in rain-truncated match, New Zealand recovered from a mini slump at 137 for five riding on a 91-run stand between Williamson (106 not out off 138 balls) and Colin de Grandhhome (60 off 47 balls) to reach home with three balls to spare.

Needing 12 off last seven balls, skipper Williamson steered a Lungi slower delivery to third man boundary to bring down the equation to 8 runs of the final over.

With Ngidi (1/47), Kagiso Rabada (1/42) and Chris Morris (3/49) all bowling their full quota, FAf du Plesis had no option but to use their weakest link Andile Phehlukwayo.

Williamson promptly hit the second delivery of the final over for his first six of the match, and followed that with a four to close the encounter.

With this win, New Zealand for a day went on top of the points table with nine points from five games.

South Africa after their fourth defeat in six games have little chance of making it to the last four.

Rassie van der Dussen was the top scorer for South Africa as he remained unbeaten on 67. Van der Dussen hit two fours and three sixes while Miller hit two boundaries and a six.

Chris Morris brought South Africa back into the game with three wickets including Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, and James Neesham.

For New Zealand, Lockie Ferguson finished with 3/59 while Matt Henry, Colin de Grandhomme and Mitchell Santner took a wicket each.

The last nine overs produced 72 runs after Faf du Plessis (23) added 50 with Amla, who completed 8000 ODI runs and became the second fastest to complete the feat.

Trent Boult castled Quinton de Kock early in the innings and Matt Henry (0/34 in 10 overs) bowled tight lines from the other end.

Mats Hummels has returned to his former club Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund has signed their former player Mats Hummels from Bayern Munich for a reported €38m.

The 2014 World Cup winner left Signal Iduna Park three years ago, in 2016 as the captain of Dortmund after he spent eight years at the club and establishing himself as one of the best centre-backs in world football.

In his three years as a Bayern Munich player, he has won three Bundesliga titles, his fifth Bundesliga title overall. He also won his second DFB Pokal as Bayern beat RB Leipzig 3-0 in the final.

Hummels began his career at Bayern Munich but left in 2008 to join Dortmund on loan and he made that move official at the end of that season. He scored 25 goals in 306 competitive appearances – leading the ‘Black and Yellows’ to the Champions League final in 2013. But unfortunately lost to his childhood club Bayern Munich in the final. He has also helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010-11 and 2011-12

Borussia Dortmund have paid a club record fee of €38m to bring the central defender back to the club. He has signed a three-year deal with Lucien Favre’s men. Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the news on social media.

The club statement reads: “Borussia Dortmund has reached an agreement in principle with FC Bayern Munich over the transfer of defender Mats Hummels. The centre-back, who previously played for BVB between 2008 and 2016, scoring 25 goals in 306 competitive appearances for the Black & Yellows, is set to return to his former club ahead of the new season. The transfer remains subject to a medical, which has yet to be carried out. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the contents of the transfer agreement.”

Mats Hummels

Joachim Low revealed publicly earlier this year that Hummels will not feature in any of his future plans regarding the national team. So now he can turn back to his former club and can certainly reclaim his spot as Dortmund’s first-choice centre-back next season.

Borussia Dortmund lost to Bayern Munich by just two points to lift the Bundesliga title last season. But Lucien Favre has shown his intent on the aspirations of the club as they look to dethrone their fierce rivals once again. Hummels joins Julian Brandt, Thorgan Hazard and Nico Schulz, who have already signed for Dortmund in this summer.

Robert Moreno is appointed as the new Spain head coach after Luis Enrique has stepped down

Luis Enrique has stepped down from his post as the head coach of the Spanish national team. Former assistant coach Robert Moreno has been appointed permanently as his replacement.

Luis Enrique has stepped down from his post as the Spanish national team head coach due to personal reasons.

Former assistant coach Robert Moreno oversaw Spain’s last three matches after Luis Enrique was granted leave following a family emergency in March. But Moreno and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) were keen to see the former Barcelona boss return for the next international break in September.

Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales and sporting director Jose Francisco Molina attended a press conference on Wednesday evening and confirmed that Luis Enrique will make way and Robert Moreno will take on the job on a full-time basis in the latest coaching change for La Roja.

Selección Española de Fútbol on Twitter

Luis Rubiales said: “It was a decision Luis Enrique took himself, which we are grateful for. We will have a perfect memory of him. It’s a personal matter which doesn’t depend on us. We think it’s the best thing to do.
We are convinced that the best response is the most prepared team, and that team is represented by Robert [Moreno] and his group, who arrived with Luis Enrique.”

Moreno was the choice of the players to continue as coach. He has impressed during his last three games in charge and all the matches ended in victories. He told reporters at a press conference on Wednesday that it was “a bittersweet day” but he was “encouraged” by support from Enrique. Moreno was Enrique’s assistant at Roma, Celta Vigo and Barcelona before joining up with Spain. He said that Enrique “instilled in me the knowledge of the players”.

Robert Moreno further said: “Since I was 14 years old, I have thought about reaching the highest level, but I didn’t expect it this way. I’ve spent nine years with Luis training the best in the world and watching his decisions. We’re going to do a great job.”

Luis Enrique

Spain sacked Julen Lopetegui on the eve of last year’s World Cup after he agreed on a deal with Real Madrid to become their head coach. Fernando Hierro took over Spain during the World Cup. But it was an underwhelming tournament in Russia for the La Rojas. After the World Cup, Luis Enrique came in for Fernando Hierro and signed a two-year contract in July 2018. Now, Robert Moreno is the fourth manager to be appointed by Spain in the past 12 months.

Spain finished second behind England in their Nations League group. But they have won their opening four Euro 2020 qualifiers. In total, Luis Enrique presided over seven games, winning five and losing two.

ASMedia to produce AMD B550 and A520 chipset motherboards based on PCIe 3.0 in 2019

The upcoming AMD B550 and A520 chipsets for the Ryzen 3000 platform are in production by ASMedia, will continue to be based on PCIe 3.0, availability from Q4 2019 onwards

The recently announced Ryzen 3000 series processors have been on a hype past few weeks and why wouldn’t they? They are based on the latest and the est 7nm process, consuming lower power and enhancing performance to an extreme level.

With new Ryzen 3000 series processors, AMD has nearly reached or just out thrown Intel’s massive single core performance. So naturally, people will go for the Red team.

But now the question arises which motherboard to go for? The Ryzen 3000 supports the PCIe Gen 4 but this is only limited to the costly X570 motherboards.

ASMedia to produce AMD B550 and A520 chipset motherboards based on PCIe 3.0 in 2019

You can always go for a cheaper B450 or X470 motherboard which needs a BIOS update to handle the upcoming CPUs but these will have support for PCIe Gen 3 only.

Now you may ask what about the B550 or a newer A520 motherboard? Are they really coming? Yes, they are…

New AMD Ryzen 3 3200G & Ryzen 5 3400G APUs launched

ASMedia will be offering the upcoming mid-range B550 and entry-level A520 chipsets later this year. Reports from DigiTimes say that ASMedia has received orders for producing the new AMD B550 and A520 chipsets.

These upcoming motherboard chipsets will continue to use the PCIe 3.0 and will be available to motherboard OEMs like ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and others sometime in Q4 2019.

All you need to know about AMD's X570 motherboards

If you are tensed that you won’t be able to use the PCIe Gen 4 then you might be partially right as most of the GPUs still run on PCIe Gen 3 only but for storage devices, the bandwidth increases a lot using the PCIe Gen 4, NVMe 1.3 controllers can hit up to 5 GBps read speeds.

DigiTimes also reported that ASMedia is expected to complete tape-outs i.e the final design phase, for PCIe Gen 4 chipsets by the end of 2019. So, naturally, the upgraded mid-range motherboards might use the PCIe Gen 4 only in 2020. ASMedia will also be rolling out USB 4.0 controllers for motherboards in 2020.

Now you have three options if you are planning to use the Ryzen 3000 processors:

  • go for a cheaper B450 or X470 motherboard, upgrade to a powerful one in your budget sometime in 2020
  • wait for a B550 or A520 motherboard, pair a strong Ryzen 3000 CPU with some strong RTX graphics card
  • save some pennies to buy a premium X570 chipset motherboard that will be totally future proof for at least for next 3-4 years

So, on which side are you? Tell us your views and opnions in the comments down below…

Dutee Chand: India’s 1st LGBTQ athlete

Dutee Chand became India’s first athlete to come out and openly declare herself as a member of the LGBTQ community.

Dutee Chand is India’s fastest woman. She is just about 5 feet 6 inches – which is short considered she is a sprinter. But at only 23 years of age, she has fought odds worse than most people, even international-level athletes can imagine.

When Dutee was just 18 years old, she was at the forefront of the debate surrounding hyperandrogenism – a condition where the female body produces high levels of testosterone. She was banned from competing by the International Association of Athletics Federations because of the condition. She took her case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2015 and won a landmark case that allowed her to compete as a woman. She cleared the way for other athletes with hyperandrogenism to also compete.

Dutee Chand

Dutee then went on to win the silver medal in both the 100 m and 200 m races at the 2018 Asian Games.

“There are no rules for men but for women there are so many tests: why is your hormone count so high, how much is your body fat, how much is your height, they check everything. But not every human body can be the same, the development of a human body differs even from country to country and athletes are made depending on that development. Like a lot of good athletes come out from countries like America and Jamaica, but we can’t even reach that level,” she said while talking on the sidelines of the launch event for Skechers GoRun 7 in Mumbai.

Dutee Chand has now made a big revelation last month. The 23-year-old sprinter shattered a taboo in India by disclosing that she is in a same-sex relationship. She became India’s first athlete, male or female, to come out openly. She revealed she faced backlash from her family and came out only after blackmail from her sister. She said: “I’ve already told everyone how much stress my sister gave me. I couldn’t train properly at least for 10-15 days after that. But now, I’m starting to forget everything and getting back to my training. I’ve received a lot of support from the public and it has made me feel comfortable”.

The Indian Supreme Court struck down the British-era law on homosexuality as late as 2018 but homosexuality still remains taboo in the country. So coming from a poor family of weavers in Chaka Gopalpur, a village in Jajpur district of Odisha, to admit being in a same-sex relationship would take a lot more courage than running down the distance of 100m in the high-pressure Olympics. But the 23-year is made of far stronger stuff. She fought, or rather ran, her way from a small village to being a global trailblazer for women athletes. She does not shy away from using her voice to call out the sport’s sexism and her country’s double standards for women.

“When you go to any event, athletes look at you in a way that you’re not an athlete. You feel a lot then. As if being an athlete is already not stressful enough, life becomes even more stressful with this,” Dutee said but with a smile.
She further added: “It was difficult for me at first. In Odisha or the world, people don’t follow rules, people follow traditions. People are orthodox in their thinking, so it becomes a challenge to make them understand. First time when this issue happened in Odisha, people spoke very badly of me. But slowly when they started reading positive things on newspaper and TV, people starting understanding.
I didn’t expect anything. I thought that people might speak ill of me after I spoke about it because I’m an athlete and a celebrity, and maybe it will affect my game again like in 2014. But by God’s grace, there’s been no such thing. Athletics Federation of India, Sports Authority of India, everyone has supported it, saying it is your personal life and no action will be taken due to it. In fact, they told me to train well”.

Dutee Chand

Dutee believes in the burning desire to – in colloquial words – let haters hate. She said: “When someone speaks ill of me, I feel a sense of jealousy from inside. I also get angry. Jo bolte hai na, haat se nahi maar sakte toh chawal se maro [roughly translated to ‘if you can’t hit someone with your hand, throw something at them]. I can’t hit people with my hand, but I will do some things that will want people to try and hit me but they won’t be able to. That’s how I become strong. The more people speak bad about me, the more I focus on my training.”

From hyperandrogenism to homosexuality, Dutee Chand is thankful for the widespread support she has received in India. She said: “I am playing for my country and whatever I do it is for my country. The support and good wishes that I have received gives me the confidence to keep fighting.”

The 23-year-old sprinter is up next for the World University Games on 28th June in Italy. She is training for the competition, but wishes she could have done more in her preparation. She wants to focus more on finishing her races as she starts well but loses steam midway.

Shakib al Hasan, Liton Das played a masterclass and took Bangladesh past victory.

1560793046 5165 Shakib al Hasan, Liton Das played a masterclass and took Bangladesh past victory.

Shakib was equally fluent on front and back foot, and even good balls were not spared. Right from the beginning, his timing was top-notch, which provided him the early momentum and Bangladesh’s newly-appointed No 3 never looked back from there.

Litton has smashed the winning runs with a pull to the square leg boundary. Huge win for Bangladesh and quite a bad result for West Indies. Bangladesh win by 7 wickets.

Shakib Al Hasan said that Bangladesh are playing cricket at a different level and credited the team management for keeping them calm in the dressing room.

Bangladesh began their World Cup 2019 campaign on a perfect note as they defeated South Africa in their opening game, but two successive defeats – against New Zealand and England – and shared points with Sri Lanka, have pushed them on to the backfoot.

Bangladesh bounced back in style as they chased down the 321 posted by West Indies in clinical fashion and made sure their win against South Africa was not considered a fluke.

“I will say it’s a whole new level [for us],” Shakib said after Bangladesh’s seven-wicket win on Monday (June 18).

“I personally think those matches in Ireland helped us a lot. Because we won every match chasing there and at no point it seemed that we are batting under pressure and we have to play big strokes.

In a run-chase of 322, following a brisk start when Soumya Sarkar got out to a short ball off Andre Russell, West Indies were eyeing to get the control back. Caribbean skipper Jason Holder set a very attacking field to the next man, Shakib.

The Windies think tank was aware of the fact that fitness-wise, the Bangladesh all-rounder was not at his best. He was supposed to miss the previous fixture against Sri Lanka in Bristol, which was eventually washed out. Hence, despite his rich form, Shakib was needed to start from scratch in this run chase. Furthermore, at that point, there was a mild but steady drizzle and the light was not that great either.

Bangladesh registered their 2nd victory in the World Cup. They are now at the 5th position in the points table.

Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro claims to be the world’s fastest smartphone

The upcoming Redmi K20 Pro claims itself to be world’s fastest smartphone scoring 388,803 points at AnTuTu benchmarks

Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone the Redmi K20 Pro has made some headlines out there and is being tremendously appraised by reviewers and tech enthusiasts globally.

The key spec of this smartphone being the Snapdragon 855, this smartphone has just scored some amazing numbers at the AnTuTu benchmarks, a whopping 388,803 points (the best one achieved by any smartphone till date).

Redmi K20 Pro

It was previously speculated by the tweets of Manu Jain, Managing Director of Xiaomi India, that both the Redmi K20 and K20 Pro would hit the Indian market by end of this month, but now its assumed that it could make its way by mid July.

To keep the keen Indian enthusiasts happy, Jain shared a tweet boasting the benchmark scores:

Redmi K20 Pro

The whopping 388,803 points scored by the K20 Pro is way higher than OnePlus 7 Pro’s AnTuTu score or the score of any other recently released flagship smartphone. The best part of this is the K20 Pro is a mid-range smartphone and still, it beats its hefty priced competitors.

But this is only the benchmarks, still it needs real life performance testing to reveal its actual quality. As for now, Xiaomi fans can enjoy the fact that this new Xiaomi flagship is coming to rule the market.

Redmi K20 Pro

Apart from the Snapdragon 855, it packs a triple rear camera, new design, pop-up selfie camera, 27W fast charging support, in-display fingerprint scanner and lot more.

The China price of the Redmi K20 Pro starts at 2499 Yuan, which roughly converts around Rs 25,000. But for India, it can be a bit more aggressively priced considering the popularity of Redmi series in India. Well, all doubts will only be cleared after it debuts in India next month.
