In the PC Gaming world, Dell’s Alienware is one of the shining stars. It recently announced a gaming monitor with a refresh rate of 360 Hz. Mainly to compete with the Asus ROG Swift 360, suppose, which was introduced at the CES event of this year. Instead of a TN panel, this monitor has an IPS panel.
Alienware provides both the NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync compatibility in its new model. The model with the G-Sync is called Alienware AW2521H and the model with FreeSync support is called Alienware AW2521HF.
Both of the G-Sync and FreeSunc monitors feature a 24.5-inch display with 1ms response rate. As per the company, the refresh rate is overclockable up to 360 Hz from the 240 Hz. Because of the IPS panel, the monitor is capable of delivering 99% sRGB coverage along with wide viewing angles.
The monitor is of 1920 x 1080 resolution. Due to the limited sharpness and detailing levels, for many of us, 1080p is not that desirable. But it is enough standard for the games like CSGO for the higher framerates.
The release date and pricing are still unknown and also the pricing. These details may be revealed in the last quarter of this year.
Intel has just announced its 10th gen Comet Lake-S Desktop CPUs and they are now being made available in various markets with considerably lower price than the previous generation. But it seems AMD has a solution for this too, the Red team is giving huge discounts on its last-gen Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs to counter Intel.
Even though being based on its age old 14 nm process, the 10th gen Intel CPUs give superior performance with its high clock speeds and increased core & thread counts. Overall, there’s not much IPC gains or extraordinary improvement in performance like we saw with the Zen 2 based Ryzen 3000 desktop CPUs.
So, these new Intel CPUs have similar performance to AMD’s at similar to high price than the Red team but does manage to keep its lead when it comes to gaming.
Even though stuffing with as much power and performance Intel could, to its 10-core Core i9-10900K still it falls apart in multi-threaded workloads against the mighty 12-core Ryzen 9 3900X. Overall both the CPUs perform head-to-head while AMD one enjoying that 2 extra cores and threads.
Now, to counter the Blue team, AMD is offering deep discounts to its existing CPUs as well as recently releasing the quad-core monsters Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X. The 12 cores and 24 threaded AMD Ryzen 9 3900X had been priced at $499 at launch which gradually decreased to $449 since then.
It even reached as low as $399 while now, Micro Center is offering the powerful Ryzen 9 3900X for just $389.99 including an additional $20 overall discount if bundled with an eligible motherboard. However, this incredible deal is applicable only for those who purchase the processor in-store or if an online purchase is made with in-store pickup.
But if you do not reside near to any Micro Center store, then you can easily purchase the 3900X for just $415 from here: https://amzn.to/2XlguXc.
This deal is far better than going for an Intel Core i7-10700K available for $387 or the Core i9-10900K at $488 that needs to be paired with a costlier motherboard while the discounted Ryzen 9 3900X can be paired with any good B450 or the upcoming B550 or any cheaper X570 motherboard readily.
When the world smartphone market seems to plunge in the global pandemic, China, where the COVID-19 started, is reviving itself from the month of March. CNBC recently reported that China recorded the highest amount of iPhone sales in April than in the last three months much likely due to the launch of iPhone SE.
China is the world’s largest smartphone market and the world’s second largest economy as well. So in a country where smartphones are both exported and imported in large quantities, the trade of iPhone really matters for Apple.
The sales for iPhones in China dropped significantly by 60% year-on-year in February 2020 as Apple was forced to close its stores for a number of weeks to reduce the effect of COVID-19 and by mid of March, all the of stores in China had reopened.
As per the reports of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology Institute, the country had a total of 40.782 million units of smartphone shipped in April itself. Whereas, 3.9 million units where iPhones according to CINNO Research which is a 160% increase in sales from March when it sold 1.5 million iPhones.
Undoubtedly, the sales of the new budget iPhone SE plays a significant role in such massive sales which became available in the latter half of April. In China, the iPhone SE starts at 3,299 Yuan ($464) in the mainland.
The CINNO Research confirmed that the iPhone SE accounted for 24% of all of Apple’s 3.9 million iPhone sales in April even though being available for a short time of the month.
Being a technologically advanced country, China is demanding more 5G smartphones which are being manufactured by the likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme and OnePlus. So, to stay in the competition in China, Apple needs to come up with 5G capable smartphones soon in the country i.e. the upcoming iPhone 12 series.
One of the most reliable tipster @_rogame has started his own blog and his first article provide some interesting facts and figures about the upcoming AMD Navi 21 often referred to as “Big Navi” and he also confirmed that AMD will be refreshing it’s Navi 10 GPUs for the budget gamers.
The Navi 2x will actually have three GPU lineups: Navi 21 (505 mm2), Navi 22 (340 mm2), & Navi 23 (240 mm2). All these GPUs will be based on AMD’s upcoming RDNA 2 architecture which is said to bring a lot of new improvements over last-gen and will support ray tracing as well.
AMD Navi 21
We have been hearing a lot about the “Big Navi” for quite some time now, as far as we know it is actually the next-gen Navi 21 GPUs which will feature up to 80 Compute Units along with 5120 Stream Processors. These Navi 21 GPUs will be offering 50% better performance per watt.
Navi 21 Gaming, via Hardware Leaks
@_rogame has specified that the Navi 21 will have specific gaming variants, Pro variants & some Apple-specific variants as well. According to the tipster, the gaming GPUs will have Navi 21 XTX, XT, XL, and XE SKUs similar to Radeon RX 5700 XT Anniversary Edition, RX 5700 XT, RX 5700, RX 5600 XT respectively.
Obviously, the XTX variant seems strange, might be a higher-end variant with better clock speeds and more number CUs.
Navi 21 Pro, via Hardware Leaks
There will also be something for the Professional market as well with the Navi 21 Pro XT and XL SKUs aimed for workstations quite similar to the present Radeon Pro W5700X and the Radeon Pro W5700 GPUs respectively.
Navi 21 for Apple iMac/iMac Pro & Mac Pro, via Hardware Leaks
AMD’s partnership with Apple has been there for quite some time now and this time too Apple will get access to newer cutting edge silicon from AMD. They will get early-access exclusive Navi 21 XT and XL silicon as well as to their Pro variants aimed for the upcoming iMac/iMac Pro Refresh and the next Mac Pro.
Navi 10 Refresh, via Hardware Leaks
AMD Navi 10 Refresh
Instead of going for the smaller Navi 23 based GPU architecture for their budget-end graphics cards, AMD will be opting to refresh its Navi 10 architecture to reduce costs. The AMD Navi 10 XT+ will be replacing the RX 5700 XT, while Navi 10 XM+ will replace the RX 5600M, and the Navi 10 XTE+ will replace the RX 5600 XT, no words on the RX 5500 XT.
If this is so, budget gamers will be disappointed of not experiencing the actual next-gen Navi architecture on low-end GPUs. Hopefully, in coming days we can get some more info about the Navi 23 and Navi 10 Refresh GPUs and their existence.
The entire smartphone industry is slowly shifting towards the 5G. Though in the countries like India 5G network is not implemented yet, the smartphone brands still releasing their future proof handsets. These new coming handsets are limited to lesser hands. The cause is the huge cost and the companies know it very well. They need to make these 5G smartphones affordable for common people.
To make the job done Qualcomm is bringing Snapdragon 6 series SoCs for the entry-level smartphones and obviously it will be 5G enabled. As per the leaks from Chinese Weibo, the upcoming snapdragon SoC is called SM6350. It takes inside two Cortex-A77 cores, six Cortex-A55 cores, and an Adreno 615 iGPU. The primary cores Cortex-A77 are clocked at 2.25GHz, the Cortex-A55 cores are clocked at 1.8GHz. Lastly, the GPU can be boosted up to 850 MHz.
The upcoming SM6350 is not the only one in the market. There is also MediaTek MT6853, Kirin 720, and also Exynos 880. No doubt, Qualcomm’s new SoC will give a hard challenge to its similar. And that also in both the cases of performance and price. Probably these entry-level chips will start arriving in the market from the second half of this year and Vivo will make the debut with its Y70s models.
