Top 5 players who lost both the Champions League and World Cup finals in the same year

0

There are many great players who have amazed us with their brilliant displays on the field but have bottled up when it came to winning trophies.

Champions League is European club football’s biggest prize and World Cup is the biggest prize of international football. Almost every player wants to win these two trophies at some point in their career.

There are some famous players who have almost got their hands on both the trophies but have failed to win both of them and notably in the same year. You can imagine what a heartbreak it is to be so close and then lose out on both the trophies in the same year! It definitely affects you mentally.

Let’s have a look at the 5 players who lost both the Champions League and World Cup finals in the same year:

michael ballack

Michael Ballack [2002]

Ballack was one of the great German midfielders. In 2002, Ballack helped Bayer Leverkusen to compete for both the domestic trophies – Bundesliga and German Cup. Unfortunately, they lost both and ended up with the runners-up medal.

Ballack got another chance to put behind the domestic failures and win the Champions League. This time they lost 2-1 to Real Madrid when Zidane scored that famous volley.

In the summer of 2002, Ballack produced some of the best performances of the World Cup for Germany to guide them to the final. Once again his team lost another final, this time to Brazil courtesy Ronaldo.

henry

Thierry Henry [2006]

In 2006, Henry had emerged as one of the best strikers, leading Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal to many domestic heights. He helped Arsenal to reach their first-ever Champions League final but lost to Barcelona by a 2-0 margin.

Henry headed into the World Cup with France as one of the tournament favourites. They progressed to the final as expected. But what happened in the final was something extraordinary! Zidane headbutted Italy’s Materazzi in the final and got a straight red card and France went on to lose the World Cup on penalties.

robben

Arjen Robben [2010]

Arjen Robben was on the verge of becoming one of the best wingers in 2010. His signature trait was to cut in from the right flank and bend the ball into the net with his left foot. He helped Bayern Munich to progress to the Champions League final but was outdone by Jose Mourinho’s Inter.

Robben played a crucial role as he guided the Netherlands to their first-ever World Cup final since 1978. Once again he lost the final to the golden generation of Spain. Spain was dominating the international tournaments having won the Euro two years ago. Iniesta scored the lone goal of the match to hand Robben a runners-up medal.

mark van bommel

Mark van Bommel [2010]

Mark van Bommel was a talented Netherlands midfielder who played for Bayern Munich at club level. He was a teammate of Arjen Robben both on the club and international level in 2010.

So he faced the same fate as Robben in 2010. Bommel captained Louis Van Gaal’s Bayern Munich to the Champions League final but lost to Inter before eventually losing the World Cup final to Iniesta’s Spain.

lovren

Dejan Lovren [2018]

Dejan Lovren became the most recent member of this ‘losing both the Champions League and World Cup finals in the same year’ club. Lovren partnered Van Dijk in defence to inspire Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to the Champions League final. They faced Real Madrid in the final, who were chasing their third successive Champions League trophy. Loris Karius made two mistakes in front of his own goal and both resulted in a goal as Liverpool lost 3-1.

Lovren then went to the World Cup in the summer with Croatia. His opponent in the Champions League final, Real Madrid’s Luka Modric was captaining the Croatian side and they reached to their first-ever World Cup finals. Unfortunately, they were beaten by a young and talented French side as Mbappe inspired France to lift the World Cup.

AMD’s upcoming Zen 4 CPUs will be built on TSMC’s 5 nm enhanced node

0

The Silicon giant is having great days, overtaking Intel in sales and making great improvement in performance as well. Soon in the coming months, expectedly in September, launching its Ryzen 4000 processors based on the refined 7 nm Zen 3 microarchitecture later this year.

An IPC uplift of around 10-15% per thread over the current Zen 2 chips and the Zen 3 based Ryzen 5000 processors is supposed to be based out of 5nm node. This transition should occur in 2021, but, according to a recent Chinese report posted on Chainnews.com, AMD has already secured 5 nm production allocations at TSMC.

Team Red will be relying on the Taiwanese foundries to develop an enhanced 5 nm node that will be used to manufacture the upcoming Zen 4 CPUs. According to the reports, AMD has secured production for 20,000 12-inch 5 nm wafers per month starting right away from the second quarter of 2020.

TSMC unveils its new 6nm chip manufacturing process

TSMC is busy taking orders from giants like Apple, NVIDIA, Huawei and AMD, while Huawei has been forced to port many of its 7 nm orders to the Chinese-based SMIC foundries. This means TSMC will be able to take more 7 nm orders from Nvidia and AMD.

Interestingly, NVIDIA’s upcoming Ampere GPUs will be based on 7 nm process rather than 10 nm process rumoured before. It seems that the pandemic has not affected the work at TSMC as they are already on track to produce 5 nm node this Q2 and production will gradually ramp up towards the end of the year.

However the 3 nm node advancements have been affected as TSMC needs to postpone the installation of the 3 nm trial production line at the Zhuke 12 and Nanke 18 plants from June to December. This suggests that the 3 nm risk production could be delayed to the first half of 2021, while the actual commercial production may be further delayed until late 2022.

0

Recently, Counterpoint Research has published its report on the smartphone SoC market for 2019. Samsung Electronics and HiSilicon (Huawei) were the only two companies to increase their market share in 2019. Qualcomm has retained top spot whereas MediaTek is comfortable in the second place.

Even though facing a 1.6% decline through the year, Qualcomm still managed to grab one-third of smartphone AP shipments in 2019. The Taiwanese giant MediaTek has faced a 1.1% decline on year-on-year (YoY) basis accounting to 24.6% market share.

Interestingly, Samsung has enjoyed a 14.1% of market share increasing its share by 2.2% on YoY basis, much due to the fact that Samsung is developing a lot of chips these days with the latest manufacturing process and is even supplying its chips to other vendors like Motorola, Google and lot more.

Samsung now enjoys 3rd spot while Apple dipped its market share by just 0.5% and still holding 13.1% in 2019. On the other hand, Huawei’s HiSilicon was the mobile chip manufacturer to exhibit an increased share of +2.5% YoY of its market in 2019.

Counterpoint also reckons the fact that Huawei’s trade war with US was one of the key factor to slower its growth or else we could’ve seen more market shares in America. As we see in the graph report, Huawei has enjoyed most of its share from China and Europe.

MediaTek has enjoyed a wide amount of global market with its strong market coming from India and China. While Samsung has made its presence felt in India, Europe and America. Apple is mostly dominant in America and Europe while Qualcomm enjoys a wide market share throughout the globe, dominating in most of them.

0

MSI has launched a new gaming monitor that not only has a ultra-wide display but also some high refresh rates along as low as 1ms response. The Optix MAG301CR features VA panel which operates natively at 2,560 x 1,080 pixels (WFHD) resolution.

MSI Optix MAG301CR ultra-wide 30-inch gaming monitor with 200Hz refresh rate launched

The 30-inch ultra-wide display has a 21:9 aspect ratio with a promised 3,000:1 contrast ratio. Additionally, MSi states that the panel covers the entire sRGB colour space and 98% of DCI-P3 colour gamut which makes the MAG301CR ideal for professional works like video and photo editing besides gaming.

As this is a 30-inch ultra-wide with such great clarity and a wide aspect ratio, multitasking won’t be difficult that much. As a gaming monitor it has some key gaming features as well, like the 200 Hz peak refresh rate and 1 ms response times, much because this is a VA panel.

The monitor is also AMD FreeSync certfied which helps to minimize screen tearing. Even though MSI is marketing the MAG301CR as being “HDR-ready” but its not actually certified by any HDR standards. For the I/O ports, we have two HDMI 2.0b ports, one DisplayPort 1.2a port and a single USB Type-C port.

Also there’s a a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones or external speakers and MSI has included three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports as well, one of them being Type-B and the others are Type-A. MSI has not confirmed the pricing or availability yet but it seems that the MAG301CR will not come cheap.

via Crysis.com

Even though the info was leaked accidentally and was taken down very fast, thanks to Twitter users like RobotBrush who managed to snap some pictures which helps gives what the remastered versio will be like.

The Crysis Remastered will bring some new graphic features, high-quality textures and the native hardware / API-agnostic Ray Tracing solution which has newly been implemented into Cryengine. The game will be available for all platforms including PC, PlayStation, Xbox and, for the first time, on Nintendo Switch as well.

Intel Core i5-10600K & Core i5-10600KF spotted on Geekbench running at 4.98 GHz

0

Intel’s new desktop processors will be arriving in a few days after its official launch at the end of this month. Both the mid-range CPUs, the unlocked Comet Lake Intel Core i5-10600K and the unlocked Core i5-10600KF without iGPU has been spotted on Geekbench 4 by none other than @TUM_APISAK.

What’s impressive to see that both of the mid-range CPUs cranking up to 4.98 GHz clock speeds, this obviously help these CPUs to get higher single-core performance.

Intel Core i5-10600KIntel Core i5-10600KFAMD Ryzen 5 3600XAMD Ryzen 5 3600
Cores/threads/TDP6/12/125 W6/12/125 W6/12/95 W6/12/65 W
Single-core score6,081 points6,070 pointsc. 5,684 pointsc. 5,478 points
Multi-core score28,523 points28,673 pointsc. 28,500 pointsc. 27,500 points

The Core i5-10600K scored 6,081 points in single-core and 28,523 points in multi-core benchmarks. On the other, the Core i5-10600KF managed to grab 6,070 points in single-core and 28,673 points in multi-core tests.

When both of them are compared to the best selling Ryzen 5 3600 and Ryzen 5 3600X, there’s not much difference. According to some thousands of Geekbench scores, the median scores of these two processors suggests, the Ryzen 5 3600 has 5,478 points and 27,500 points in single and multi-core benchmarks respectively.

On the other hand, the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X has an median score of 5,684 points and 28,500 points in single and multi-core benchmarks respectively. This signifies that these new Intel CPUs are very powerful even more than the Ryzen 3000 processors but not by a huge margin, but yes the single-core performance is what you would be craving for.

Intel Core i5-10600K & Core i5-10600KF spotted on Geekbench running at 4.98 GHz

One thing to note for is that the expected TDP of the Intel Core i5-10600K and Core i5-10600KF will be as high as 125 W while the Ryzen 5 3600X has a mere 95 W TDP and the Ryzen 5 3600 with just 65 W TDP. So, cracking higher single-core scores is not a fascinating task for Intel at such high temps which will have higher power consumption.

Also, these new Comet Lake CPUs will require a new motherboard along with good amount of cooling too keep the temps lower. While the Ryzen ones wih the AM4 socket advantage enjoys an impressive stock cooler along with the lower prices, the Ryzen 5 3600 retails for just $175 and the Ryzen 5 3600X costs $230.

The Intel Core i5-10600 is expected to cost around US$250 so it will be interesting to see the pricing of both the Intel Core i5-10600K and Core i5-10600KF CPUs. If Intel doesn’t price them at a reasonable price then the Ryzen ones will obviously be the better choices to opt for.

Launch of Realme Narzo 10 series is again postponed

Realme scheduled the official launch on March 26 but due to the nationwide lockdown the launch was postponed and then the launch was scheduled by the company on April 21. But today the launch is again postponed until further notice due to the Indian Government’s devices policies.

Yesterday the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Affairs has shared the revised notice that states – no delivery will be done for non-essential items from e-commerce sites until further notice.

This is why Realme has to again postpone the launch event until further notice. This time is really critical for the country and if the delivery chain starts at this time the number of cases will stat rising exponentially at a much high rate, then the lockdown will be of no use.

According to WHO the COVID-19 virus can stay alive for 20 minutes in air, 24 hours on cardboard materials and upto 72 hours on plastic surface. This is why this decision is taken by the Indian government.

LG Velvet appears in an official video, design, colour options and chipset revealed

0

LG has officially revealed the first promo video of the most rumored and new Velvet device which was on the verge of the announcement. The company revealed a few sketches and details of the Velvet device from which we concluded that it will be a mid-range 5G smartphone with a new design.

The video shows the full-body design of the LG Velvet smartphone and at the end of the video, it confirmed all the colour options and Snapdragon 765G chipset. It is still not known whether the phone will support 5G or not as the chipset is designed to support 5G under the hood.

The design of LG Velvet is said to be inspired by nature where the rear camera sensors are inspired by raindrops, as the camera’s sensors are getting smaller from top to bottom.  The main camera sits slightly above the surface while the other two lenses lie seamlessly under the smooth glass. This tactilely pleasing design layout offers the added benefit of taking up less space on the rear of the phone for a cleaner, sleeker overall look.

In the video, we saw that the Velvet series will feature a triple rear camera, drop notch design, Snapdragon 765G processor and four colour options – Green, Black, White, and some gorgeous gradient that goes all the way from purple through orange and pink to some sort of yellow-ish pearl hue. As mentioned by the company that it will be a mid-range series, it has not officially any pricing segment for the series yet.
