Huawei has been facing a hard time since the prolonged period of US trade ban and recently, one more year the Chinese smartphone giant will be unable to do trade with US companies including Google. Also, the Chip designer cannot manufacture its own smartphone chips via TSMC as well, making it even more crippled ever than before.
Huawei is a huge customer for TSMC and a trade ban naturally affects the flow of business but reports say that a lot of companies have taken the initiative to replace Huawei’s chip orders. Among the prominent companies replacing Huawei orders are MediaTek, that will be aiming to use 5nm wafers for its upcoming SoCs.

According to another report, MediaTek has approached TSMC in 3 waves, since the requirement for 5G wafer is high at this time. More than 20,000 wafers per month have been added, which includes 7nm and 12nm processes. In addition to them, TSMC’s latest 5nm process is being queued up as well by a lot of companies like Apple, Qualcomm and others.
This may be one of the crucial areas where MediaTek matches in following the loss of Huawei HiSilicon orders. The news has not officially been announced by either MediaTek or TSMC, but from within their supply chain. Seemingly, TSMC had shut down its 5nm plant that was originally reserved for HiSilicon. But now TSMC has split the production to major names such as Apple, Supermicro, and Qualcomm.
Meditek’s new Dimensity chips are very capable to challenge Qualcomm’s flagship and mid-range SoCs that supports 5G as well. So, MediaTek is to raise the production of its Dimensity 800 and Dimensity 600 series and ultimately accelerating its 5nm chip production for next-gen flagship SoCs.
MediaTek Dimensity 820 5G chipset
Now, Huawei, on the other hand, relies on MediaTek for its chips to use on their smartphones and it seems that Huawei’s orders for the MediaTek chips have increased by a whopping 300% this year. So, the Taiwan silicon manufacturer has a great opportunity not only make great chips ahead but also grab more orders to counter its primary competitor Qualcomm.
Although Huawei appears to be in a difficult situation, the ban and the following changes in production capacity are indications of the competitive sector, Huawei is search of alternatives and local sources to make or use chips in their next smartphones.
5G enabled smartphones are the standard flagships these days and it will interesting to see how the second-largest smartphone manufacturer gets to meet its 5G customer demands and use the upcoming 5nm process on next-gen flagship smartphones.
Max J is one of the most renowned tipsters who gave us an idea about a truly wireless earphone from OnePlus that is in development. He had shared this news a few weeks ago, and recently he has shared another interesting news related to this TWS earphone. he had shared an image in his official twitter account that shows the schematic diagram of the OnePlus TWS earphone along with its name. The upcoming rumored TWS from OnePlus will be named “OnePlus Buds”.
OnePlus Buds had recently been in talks and yesterday Max.J a famous tipster had tweeted an image which shows the black colour of the OnePlus Buds. He showed the design earlier in the form of an outline schematic diagram, but now he has shown the black colour version, but in mockup version.
The previous design that Max.J showed was more like the Apple Airpods but this time with the black colour version it seems the design is reminiscent of the current OnePlus Bullets Wireless 2 with the concentric brushed aluminum back.
There is no news about the launch of the same. We anticipate that these buds will be launched with the OnePlus Z/Lite in the month of July. BUt as there is no concrete information about the launch we have to proceed with the assumption that the launch is nearing soon.
South Korean company Samsung is still selling the Galaxy Fold globally and some recent reports claim that the company is preparing to launch the Lite version of the Galaxy Fold next year, 2021. South Korean sources claim that this device will not have to compare specs like the vanilla version but will come with a much more affordable price range than the previous one. The new phone will go for around KRW1.32 million, which is about $1,100 or €975.
Previous reports indicate that the Galaxy Fold Lite will be launched on August 5. The publication claims the Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite was supposed to be priced at KRW 1 million (roughly Rs. 62,800), which would make it quite a bit cheaper than the current Galaxy Fold that comes in at Rs. 1.62 lakh as per Amazon. But there is no particular news about the pricing of the new Fold Lite, but according to the reports, the price is almost Rs.1 lakh lesser than the original vanilla version.
The recent report shows an image that visualizes the upcoming phone. The phone in the image is unfolded that has a punch hole camera on the top right corner for selfies and video calling. There is not much information about the specifications of the phone. In addition to this several leaksters also say the bezels of the new Fold phone will be thinner.
It is expected that the smartphone can be launched in an online Samsung Unpacked event next year but there is no such concrete news of the launch. But it is expected that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, and the Galaxy Note 20, among other devices at the event this year. The delay in the launch of the Fold Lite is due to the COVID-19 situation and thus the launch is pushed back to next year.
There is a report recently that surfaced, shared by Infinix club member on a forum, that suggests the company is working on a new series of smartphone dubbed as “Snokor”. The image shared by the tipster shows a mysterious packaging that indicates the name”Snokor” on it.
The image is not real but a mockup of what the packaging box will look like. The exciting part is that the box mentions the brand name on it and the box looks like a mobile packing box with a rectangular shape.

As of now the company has not shared any information about the upcoming series. It is also said that the company seems to be launching a new brand that is quite different from its other series of smartphones including Hot, Note, Smart, Zero, and S series.
We anticipate from the design of the box that it may be a separate series from the brand but, the company may launch a new gaming smartphone series under this name. The box looks more like a gaming smartphone covering the box. The font and design match the same.
The post was shared on the Infinix Club forum by a member who goes by the name Mr Tipster. In that post he said that it is a 100% genuine design and he is sure of the launch. But he also added that the brand is launching this series and is trying to go on the way like Realme and compared the same with the recently launched Narzo series, which is particularly doing good in the market.

India currently is one of the main markets of many electronic brands including the Taiwan based electronic brand Acer. Obviously, the COVID-19 has affected every sector of business and now the India-China conflict is giving headache to the brand as it believes this could affect consumer sentiment throughout the Q3 2019.
Undoubtedly, the Anti-Chinese movement is on the rise in India, and more people than ever are seeking to go for all Indian products, and others except China. Also, there’s no denial of the fact that Chinese products are flooding in the Indian market and people have suddenly become choosy now to buy any Chinese manufactured goods or from any Chinese brand as well.
via Taiwan News
Thanks to Indian Govt’s new rules like the e-commerce giants like Flipkart and Amazon will be showing the country of origin of every product, helping customers to go for Indian products. The current e-commerce platforms are believed to comprise of as much as 70% Chinese products which is why steps are being taken by various regulatory bodies of India to decrease our Chinese dependency.
The Coronavirus pandemic has destroyed the consumer demand throughout the first half of the year in countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines, leading Acer to concentrate on business clients, in accordance with the organization’s President of Pan Asia Pacific Operations, Andrew Hou.
Looking ahead, nations with a big population, like India and Indonesia, provide a significant level of uncertainty. Nevertheless, other Southeast Asian nations, like Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, are on the road to recovery, CNA quoted Hou as stating.
To make the matters the current clash in the borders between India and China could cast a shadow on consumers need in the first the Acer spokesperson said. He went on to add that as more and more consumers are working from home, so many of the government departments have opted to postpone spending.
Throughout the Q2 2020, Acer saw its performance in India dip by 10%, so Andrew How believes that this India-China conflict effect might be felt in business in the next quarter as well.
Samsung has its own setup for designing and producing its own chips. Not only that, but it always focused to use them to their devices also. But, sometimes it wouldn’t compete with other SoCs. One of the examples is the replacement of Exynos 990 SoC with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 that provides overall better performance.
No doubt, the present scenario generates feelings of “humiliation” for Samsung itself, mainly the members of the mobile chip division. To overcome, Samsung is focusing on this part more and improving the research and development team. Besides, the Korean tech giant promoted its Chief Research Scientist, Dr. Sebastian Seung to the Head Scientist of Samsung Research to strengthen artificial intelligence solutions.
All the planning, effort, and investment by Samsung is to achieve the goal of K-Chip Technology. The company already planned for its partnerships and collaborations across Korea, its home country.
Apart from all this, the heavy investment by Samsung into its own country will also move the economic curve upward. That means it is helpful for both the company and the country.
At present, it will no be fair to comment on the performance of K-Chips. The company is trying its best and is confident about its ability. But, it needs to keep in mind about the moves of its competitors like Qualcomm.
