AMD launches Athlon 3000 APUs for laptops with 15W TDP

0

AMD made a bold announcement of its 3rd Gen Ryzen 4000 mobile APUs at the CES 2020, this series delivers killer performance both on the CPU front and of its integrated graphics. Being based on the 7nm process, these APUs will be costlier than last-gen and so AMD needs something to compensate its lower-end laptops.

As we previously saw the Ryzen 4000 series to feature a minimum of 4 cores, we expect the lower end ones to feature 2 cores which will this time be dubbed as Athlon 3000 mobile processors. Hopefully AMD this time will discard its older A-series SoCs for the low-end laptops and replace it with these new Athlon processors.

The new Athlon 3000U mobile SoCs pack 2 cores and 2/4 threads and has two variants:

AMD Athlon Gold 3150U2C/4T15WUp to 3.3 / 2.4 GHz35
AMD Athlon Silver 3050U2C/2T15WUp to 3.2 / 2.3 GHz25
AMD launches Athlon 3000 APUs for laptops with 15W TDP

With 2-3 Vega GPU cores, you still get an improved Radeon Vega graphics along with a greater 5MB of total cache. These SoCs will be based on 14nm Zen architecture and will support DDR4-2400 RAM and will have 15W TDP.

The key specs of AMD Athlon Gold 3150U are:

  • 2 cores, 4 threads “Zen” processor @ 2.6 GHz / 3.3 GHz (Boost)
  • Cache – 384KB L1 Cache, 1MB L2 Cache, 4MB L3 Cache
  • 3-core Radeon Graphics with up to 1000 MHz
  • Supported System Memory – DDR4-2400
  • Video Interfaces – DisplayPort and HDMI
  • TDP – Default: 15W; cTDP: 12-25W
  • CMOS – 14nm
  • Package – FP5
  • Max Temp – 95°C

The Athlon 3000-series mobile processors also support Windows Hello and Cortana, really helpful for everyday work and home use. Even you can enjoy Full HD streaming and 720p gaming up to a certain level.

If this Athlon CPU is compared with Intel Pentium Gold 5405U “Whiskey Lake” dual core/4-thread powered laptop, the new AMD Athlon Gold 3150U offers up to 86% faster graphics in 3DMark11 and up to 51% better productivity performance in Cinebench R15.

These Athlon 3000 mobile processors would be giving you great performance for low-budget laptops or in mini-laptops or portable gaming console. Soon in Q1 or Q2 of 2020, we will get laptops featuring these APUs.

Toni Kroos has scored an amazing Olympic goal

Real Madrid are through to the Supercopa de Espana final.

For the 1st time, the Supercopa de Espana has been moved out of Spain. It is being played in Saudi Arabia.

Previously, the winners of LaLiga and Copa del Rey used to play for the Supercopa de Espana trophy at the start of the season. But this time, the tournament has been shifted to the middle of the season and it involves the teams who finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey winners.

Valencia hosted Real Madrid in the 1st semi-final. Real Madrid have beaten them comfortably 3-1 and have progressed to the tournament finals.

real madrid

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid will play each other in the other semi-final to progress to the final and face Real Madrid.

The most eye-catching thing in Real Madrid’s semifinal win was that Olympic goal scored by Kroos. He did something very special on Wednesday. The German spotted Valencia goalkeeper Jaume Domenech off his line in the 15th minute.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7EyKajJlps/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Kroos curled the ball in direct from the corner towards the goal while the keeper was still organising his defence and the ball flew over the line before Domenech could recover. He scored a goal which is known as an Olympic goal.

It’s a very rare and special type of goal. Real Madrid haven’t enjoyed this type of goal since Davor Suker scored one at the Bernabeu on December 14th 1997 in a league match against Merida.

Toni Kroos’ Olympic goal will surely be one of the contenders for the goal of this season.

CES 2020: Dell G5 15 SE Gaming laptop with Ryzen 4000H & Radeon RX 5600M launched

0

AMD made a great start to the CES 2020, launching their brand new Ryzen 4000 mobile processors and their gaming-oriented H-series processors with 45W TDP. AMD also announced its Radeon RX 5600 XT GPU for desktop as well as for laptops.

During its keynote, AMD assured its fans that soon vendors would be sowing their laptops with these new APUs. ASUS was among the first ones in the race, showing off their unique ROG Zephyrus G14 and Dell too showed the new G5 15 Special Edition Ryzen gaming laptop featuring both AMD on the processor as well as discrete GPU front.

Dell’s G5 15 gaming laptop promises to be a strong laptop to give gamers all the frames per second they need for competitive gaming and triple-A gaming titles.

CES 2020: Dell G5 15 SE Gaming laptop with Ryzen 4000H & Radeon RX 5600M launched

Featuring the top-of-the-line Ryzen 7 4800H has a base clock of 2.9GHz and a boost of 4.2GHz along with 12MB cache. We see 7CUs of Vega graphics with 1600MHz which is lower than we saw in the Ryzen 7 4800U. The higher TDP helps the SoC to provide higher base clock frequency of 2.9GHz.

If you are worried about the performance of this APU, AMD has confidently that the new Ryzen gaming chips can beat the Core i9 9980HK in most areas, single-threaded, multithreaded, and on integrated graphics as well. Being equipped with the discrete Radeon RX 5600M graphics card, the laptop delivers smooth 1080p gaming performance.

The new AMD SmartShift technology is exclusive for its H-series Ryzen 4000 processors which is a power delivery mechanism. When the APU is paired with a discrete GPU, SmartShift will automatically adjust the power budget between the CPU and the discrete GPU for the max power budget allocated for the laptop.

CES 2020: Dell G5 15 SE Gaming laptop with Ryzen 4000H & Radeon RX 5600M launched

With the help of this technology AMD says this delivers 10% better framerates in Division 2, and 12% faster Cinebench R20 NT. Also, Dell’s Alienware Command Center software allows users to tweak performance and customize gaming profiles.

The laptop features a 15.6-inch Full-HD panel with a variable refresh rate of up to 144 Hz which supports FreeSync technology. Dell is offering multiple single and dual-drive storage options as well, with up to a 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD and up to a 2TB 5400 RPM HDD and we expect multiple DDR4 RAM options as well.

The new Dell G5 15 SE gaming laptop comes equipped with an audio subsystem enhanced with Nahimic 3D Audio software. Dell also offering an optional WASD 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard that is customizable via the Alienware Command Center.

CES 2020: Dell G5 15 SE Gaming laptop with Ryzen 4000H & Radeon RX 5600M launched

For I/O and connectivity, the laptop features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GbE, USB-A, USB-C, mDP, HDMI, SD card reader, a 3.5-mm audio jack, and a webcam with IR sensors.

The Dell G5 15 Special Edition Ryzen gaming laptop will be on shelves in early April 2020. The entry-level configuration with the Ryzen 5 4600H (six Zen 2 cores) along with its integrated Radeon Vega graphics (384 SPs) will cost you $799. This laptop will get even costlier when you opt-in for a dedicated graphics, presumably the latest Ryzen 4000 is a factor for such high prices.

CES 2020: Samsung 980 PRO PCIe gen 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD announced

0

In 2019, when the Ryzen 3000 CPUs were announced with PCIe gen 4 support, most of the motherboard manufacturers enabled the PCIe gen 4 SSD support. We saw many of the SSD makers like Corsair, Gigabyte develop the newer and faster SSDs for customers.

We know that Samsung is one of the key manufacturers of SSDs, so at CES 2020, the Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD has been announced. This will be the first consumer-oriented SSD to feature PCIe gen 4 and the SSD looks alike to Samsung’s 900 series M.2 SSDs.

CES 2020: Samsung 980 PRO PCIe gen 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD announced

IPL 2020: The teams which are tipped to take the title

Cricket lovers in India and around the world are already eagerly looking forward to the 2020 IPL. Scheduled to begin on 29th March 2020, fans will be hoping for another exciting season with plenty of runs and wickets. Of course, another gripping final like the 2019 match between Mumbai Indians and CSK would also be welcome!

March 2020 still seems a way off for cricket fans but the good news is that there is always a game going on somewhere around the world before then. Heading online to check out what cricket matches today offers is a great way to find out more and satisfy your craving for the game. The other thing you could do is to look ahead to which teams stand a good chance of winning the IPL when it does start.

But who should you keep an eye on in this year’s IPL?

Mumbai Indians

The sensible place to start is with the team who won it last season that has also won it on three occasions before that. When you look at their line-up for 2020 now that the auctions have taken place, they appear to be a strong team once again. Led by the supremely talented Rohit Sharma, there are other top-class players also like Jasprit Bumrah, Lasith Malinga and Quinton de Kock to call upon. The only downside is that they tend to see a dip in performance in the year after taking the crown – can they beat that effect in 2020?

Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2019

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Another team that has done well in the IPL in recent times are the Sunrisers. They won the trophy in 2016 and finished second in 2018 so they have the pedigree to mount a challenge in 2020. They will need to brush up on how they approach the Eliminator games though as this was their undoing in 2019. When you look at their 2020 squad, there seems to be a good mix of talent in there for the team to have a great year. As well as existing players like David Warner and Johnny Bairstow, new blood such as Virat Singh and Mitchell Marsh could really make their mark.

CSK

Last season’s runners-up (by 1 run!) surely must be in with a shout again this year. The stats certainly back this up as they have never finished below 3rd in the IPL’s history. That has included not only three titles but also multiple runners up spots. They were in great form last year and dominated on their way to a very slight loss in the final. That narrow defeat should give them plenty of motivation to go one better in 2020. With Sam Curran and Piyush Chawla joining them this time around, they could be a tough side to beat.

2020 Indian Premier League is set to shine

With March just a few weeks away, the 2020 edition of the IPL is already shaping up to be something special. With eight teams battling it out for the crown, the above sides seem the most likely to win out in the end.

Sadio Mane has been named as the 2019 African Player Of The Year

Sadio Mane has beaten previous two-times Champions Salah to the 2019 African Player Of The Year award.

The CAF awards were held in Hurghada, Egypt on Tuesday. Sadio Mane has won the 2019 African Player Of The Year. He has edged Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah – winner in 2017 and 2018 – and Algeria attacker Riyad Mahrez – winner in 2016 – to the prestigious award.

The winner was chosen by votes from head coaches/technical directors and captains of the senior national teams from CAF’s member associations.

Mane is only the second Senegalese to win the award after El Hadji Diouf, who was the winner in 2001 and after joining Liverpool in 2002.

It is the second successive year that the top three are all from English clubs and only the third time since the award was introduced that the leading trio all play in the same league. In 1991, the top three all came from French clubs.

Mane said after receiving the award from the four-time winner Samuel Eto’o: “To be honest I would prefer to be playing football than speaking in front of so many people. I’m really happy and really proud at the same time. I would like to thank my family, especially my uncle who is here today. It is a big day for me and I would love to thank all the Senegalese people who have been voting for me. I’m from a very small village called Bambali and I’m sure they are all watching me tonight.”

mane

Mane was given tough competition by Mohamed Salah and Riyad Mahrez.
The Egyptian won the award in 2017 and 2018. He was third in 2016. He was also instrumental in Liverpool’s recent successes. While Mahrez captained Algeria to Africa Cup of Nations success in July and won the Premier League with Manchester City. He was African Footballer of the Year in 2016.

But Mane deservedly won the award this year. It was a successful calendar year for the 27-year-old as he ended the 2018-19 season by winning the Champions League and Premier League Golden Boot award.

Mane also guided Senegal to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer before returning to claim more honours with Jurgen Klopp’s side. After scoring twice in the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Chelsea, Mane then delivered the assist for Roberto Firmino’s goal that won Liverpool the FIFA Club World Cup for the very first time.

asisat oshoala

Asisat Oshoala won the 2019 African Women’s Player Of The Year. She plays for Barcelona’s women team and was delighted to be recognised. She wrote on Twitter: “Grateful to be African Women’s Player of the year for the 4th time. Thank God, my Family, Friends and Fans for the support. Big shoutout to my club, my management, teammates at both national team and club level and of course thanks to @CAF_Online for the opportunity.”
