Chromebook Shipment Hits 9.4 Million Units in Q3 2020

According to Canalys, the global PC market grew by 23% Year-on-year with shipments of 124.5 million units. This list is consists of notebooks, desktops, and tablets. The report is published based on the market in quarter three of this year. The Chromebooks became the best-performing PC product and the second one on the list is tablets.

Lenovo shipped 23.5 million units and topped the overall PC market. In the second, Apple shipped 22.07 million Macs and iPads. HP became third with 18.68 million, Dell is fourth with 12.04 million, and fifth is Samsung with 9.98 million units. Samsung and Apple entered the top five because of their demanding tablets.

Exceptionally, shipments of Chromebooks grew by 122% year-on-year to a total of 9.4 million units. Due to remote education, the demand for Chromebooks was very high in educational institutions. In the Chromebook sale, HP led the market and even the sale has doubled this year to reach 3.2 million units, compared to 2019. We saw the lack of GSM (Google Mobile Services) in Huawei tablets, but it still remained strong in Europe.

Apple topped the chart when it comes to tablets. Apple shipped a total of 15.2 million units, which led them to grow their annual sale to 47%. Whereas, Samsung’s annual growth hits 79.8% with 9 million shipments.

The traditional desktop market faced a loss of 32% YoY. Due to the pandemic situation, the market for tablets grew immensely after five years.

Nokia 2.4 is set to launch in India by November-end

According to the tipsters, HMD Global is going to launch the Nokia 2.4 in the Indian market by the end of November. HMD Global has announced the Nokia 2.4 as well as 3.4 in late September. But this launch was only for the European market. But this time, the news has come out for the Indian market. Nokia 2.4 is basically a budget mid-range smartphone from Nokia. It is the successor of the Nokia 2.3 that was launched last year. Let’s check out the specifications of this phone.

The Nokia 2.4 runs on the Android 10 OS and is powered by the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset. Though it will get its Android 11 update very soon after launch. New beefier GPUs from AMD & NVIDIA will increase cooling solution demand

2020 has been an unexpected roller coaster ride for everyone, however, no virus could slow the tech innovations in the market. The biggest highlight in 2020 was the new and powerful GPUs by both AMD & NVIDIA that totally has shaken the consumer market.

More performance means more power consumption, new RTX 3000 series GPUs take lot of power and do needs beefier cooling solutions to keep the card cool for prolonged 4K gaming sessions. This, in contrast, has increased the demand for graphic cooling solution, which until now, was not a huge brainer.

So, as per the Digitimes report, the Taiwan-based cooling solution providers such as Sun Max Tech and Auras Technology expect these new GPUs will increase demand for their parts in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The report went on to say that Sun Max’s revenues gained as much as 7.65% on month whereas an impressive 55.46% on year to hit the highest record of NT$170 million (or US$5.96 million) in October.

Whereas, the company reported a net profit of NT$85 million for the first three quarters of 2020, up by 34.34% from a year earlier.

On the other hand, Auras is said to have generated a net profit of NT$335 million for third-quarter 2020, down by 4.56% sequentially and 1.18% on the year. Whereas, January-October’s net profit was up 10% on year to NT$829 million.

Origin OS: The Android skin Vivo is currently cooking

If you ever use any Vivo smartphone or notice to use someone using, you might familiar with its Android skin Funtouch OS. Vivo worked a lot to develop and customize its signature UI to provide the users with some extra benefits. But it’s going to replace now. The Chinese smartphone brand is working on a new custom skin named Origin OS and it’s about to come out on this 18th.

The OEM will showcase the new Android skin at a special event next Wednesday (18th) in Shenzhen and will be available to users from 23rd November. Though, all the users will not get the update. The company will make the new skin available to try for some of its selected users. There is no exact date for the availability to all users worldwide.
