Facebook spotted testing new TikTok-like ‘Short Videos’ feature

The most popular video making Chinese application TikTok is already banned in India and under process in the US. For this, a huge market becomes void and to fillup the gap lots of alternatives are coming in the market.

Earlier, Facebook introduced Instagram Reels and now spotted testing a new ‘Short Video’ feature inside its app. This is appearing in the middle of the News Feed and works the same as TikTok, mainly the swipe-up process that is famous in TikTok. The testing scope does not come in the light yet.

Matt Navarra tweeted this for the first time and wrote, “Facebook is also testing a ‘short videos’ feed with TikTok-like swipe up in its main app”. Apart from the swipe up to jump to the next video, the likes and comments section is also placed at the bottom right corner, just the TikTok.

A Create option is there at the top, after tapping on it for the first time it opens a new Facebook Camera with the description “Create and share short videos, and explore new ways to express yourself”. The new features allow creators to add music in the background of their clips, pause and record, sharing the video in the app, and more.

A Facebook spokesperson replied to Gadgets360, “We’re always testing new creative tools so we can learn about how people want to express themselves. Short form videos are extremely popular and we are looking at new ways to provide this experience for people to connect, create and share on Facebook.”

This new ‘Short Videos’ feature is not available for all users as it’s currently in the testing phase. But later, after successful testing, Facebook may roll this feature out commercially.

0

The French defender had been recently tested for Coronavirus and seems to bear it somehow, he has been out for action for quite some time now because of his knee injury. Now, the club has officially stated that he has been found Covid-19 positive:

After the PCR tests carried out on Thursday the first team player Samuel Umtiti has tested positive for Covid-19. The players are asymptomatic, are in good health, and are isolating at home.

The Club has informed the relevant sporting and health authorities as well as tracking all the people who have had contact with the player so that they can undergo the corresponding PCR tests.

It is however good to see Umtiti’s asymptomatic and is in good health, so he can recover soon from his home only. It is a tough situation for Umtiti already as he is unable to return back to his peak defensive form and we have been hearing rumors surrounding his transfer to Roma, on top of that now he has the virus. We hope the Frenchman recovers soon 🤒😁

Intel announces Xe HPG Gaming GPU, coming in 2021

0

During Architecture Day 2020, Intel announces their Xe HPG GPU especially for the gaming community and it will the market next year i.e. 2021. At the event, Raja Koduri, the senior vice president and chief architect of Intel’s discrete graphics division has stated that Intel has not forgotten the gaming community and for them, they have revealed their first ever discrete GPU called as Intel Xe HPG which is specially designed for gaming.

Intel announces Xe HPG Gaming GPU, coming in 2021

It will feature a single tile of HPG architecture with GDDR6 memory. Intel has yet not confirmed the tile count in the presentation but during Q&A with Raja Kokuri, he had provided a big hint that confirms the specs.

Back in 2018, Intel formerly had plans for a single graphics architecture with two micro-architectures. A couple of years later, the number of microarchitectures has doubled to four. While we are not certain whether Xe HP and HPG will have the same EU count per tile and if it is similar then some quick estimations can be done as well.

Xe HP with a single tile has 512 EUs which estimated roughly to have 4096 cores. If the core count remains the same then it will likely have 4096 cores with GDDR6 memory. The following year if Intel sets the prices right then this could hit hard the gaming market and can heavily impact AMD and Nvidia. By just 1500 MHz, and with 512 EUs, the Xe HPG GPU would be capable to give the output of 12.2 TFLOPs of FP32 Compute.

Intel announces Xe HPG Gaming GPU, coming in 2021

During the event, Intel has demonstrated 1-tile, 2-tile, and 4-tile variants of Xe HP running a compute workload, with nearly perfect scaling based on the number of tiles. This test used early drivers, running at non-final clocks of 1300 MHz and it was able to deliver 10.6 TFLOPS (FP32) with a single tile and up to 42.3 TFLOPS with a 4-tile implementation.

Though we have received a little knowledge for now about the Xe HPG GPU, we are likely to be sure that it will be on par with Nvidia’s rumored 3080Ti GPU. We speculate that it can very easily handle 4K gaming.
