Goran Pandev creates history for North Macedonia as they qualify for their first major international tournament, UEFA EURO 2021

0

There were four spots in the UEFA Euro 2021 tournament, and eight teams vying for it. But the road to getting that spot was in no manner easy for any of the winning sides. While there was joy for some teams, there was heartbreak and despair for others.

The first match between North Macedonia and Georgia was undoubtedly the most important one, as the former qualified for their first-ever major international tournament in their history. And who else but skipper Goran Pandev to do so with his 115th national team appearance? The Genoa striker scored a fine goal and the Macedonia defence did well to keep the clean sheet.

Elsewhere, Slovakia endured a late scare from North Ireland after a late own goal by Milan Skriniar tied the match. But, Michal Duris’ 110th-minute winner meant that it was Slovakia who went through.

Another spot playoff match between Serbia and Scotland saw the former face massive disappointment. The Scots managed by former West Brom manager Steve Clarke dragged the game into penalties after a Ryan Christie strike was cancelled out by a Luka Jovic late equaliser. However after Aleksandr Mitrovic missed his penalty, Scotland won the game 5-4 in the shootout.

The final game was played between Iceland and Hungary. And as brave as the Icelandic men were, they eventually fell short to some injury time magic from Dominik Szoboszlai who scored the winner to take Hungary into the Euros.

So as it stands, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Scotland and Hungary have now progressed to the major European football competition. The beauty of football is nevertheless in these games where more than technicalities and tactics, the spirit and unity of morale comes to the fore.

And as we head into 2021, we are sure to witness a thrilling football tournament which promises many more joys and upsets.

YouTube Music will soon allow users to share songs on social media

0

YouTube is the world’s leading video streaming platform and is undoubtedly the best at its job. Now since we all know that Google Play Music is shutting down for good it seems like the android maker is pushing hard to make its latest entry the YouTube Music a big hit. it has been adding more features to YouTube Music in an attempt to make the service more appealing to users across the globe.

According to sources, the latest feature the company is working on is the ability to share songs from YouTube Music to Instagram and Snapchat stories. Sources claim that Instagram stories and Snapchat stories appear on YouTube Music’s share sheet.

However, Google’s YouTube Music is not the first streaming service to let users share songs on social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. The Swedish media streaming firm Spotify has already introduced the feature and made it one of its mainstream feature. Recently, Apple Music also released a similar implementation with an iOS update for iPhone users and later on Android.

According to sources, YouTube Music’s song share feature could work just like Spotify and Apple Music. Hence, we can expect to see the track’s title, artist’s name, and the album art when you open the story. It can then be tapped on the preview to listen to that song from YouTube Music on users device.

Reports also claim that YouTube Music will soon get a ‘Year in Review’ playlist. It is yet another feature which already exists in spotify. YouTube music is copying and borrowing features from its competitors. As to whether it will have any chance of making all this works remain to be seen. One thing is for sure, if Google is doing this, then it has got to do it right.

The Instagram home screen gets a new look

We have already seen the recent logo overhaul by Facebook-owned Instagram. But now it seems that the social media platform is undergoing yet another major update. The company is making some major design changes to the home screen of its app for the first time in several years.

According to sources, the social media giant announced that it’s adding Reels and Shop tabs as a part of its home screen. The Reels tab will allow users to use Reels which are short-form videos. The Shop tab on the other hand will offer personalized recommendations for shoppable videos along with new product collections.

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri stated “We don’t make these changes lightly – we haven’t updated Instagram’s home screen in a big way for quite a while. But how people create and enjoy culture has changed, and the biggest risk to Instagram is not that we change too fast, but that we don’t change and become irrelevant. We’re excited about the new design and believe it gives the app a much-needed refresh while staying true to our core value of simplicity.”

The addition of the shopping option is less surprising than that of the Reels menu. Instagram has developed its shopping product over years and has finally launched a dedicated shopping page. It has also added the ability to use Facebook Pay for transactions. Placing both Reels and Shop on the home screen means we can expect to continue to see the company invest in both of these areas.

It’s been years since we saw a change in the home screen UI of Instagram. But if Instagram is receiving a change in its home screen, there might exist a possibility of Facebook to get an overhaul pretty soon.

STRENGTH

Goa has a number of Indian players in their side which actually could perform to the highest level and will aid in the transition period of forming a new core. Tactically speaking, they also have new manager Juan Ferrando who is well versed with an attacking style of play and can combine well with the resources at hand.

WEAKNESS

Having lost a number of key players, Goa have had to rebuild again this season with a new coach at the helm. So the understanding between players is something that could take time, and in a restricted season, might prove to be a negative point for them.

KEY PLAYER

ISL: FC Goa Ropes In Spanish Striker Igor Angulo

Of all the talents in their playing squad, none rank more important than Igor Angulo. With a clinical finishing ability and a fox-like nature to dart into the box and score goals, the Spaniard has vast experience playing in a variety of international leagues. He will certainly look to make an impact in his debut season with Goa, who will hope for a winning campaign.

PREDICTED TABLE FINISH

3rd Place – Goa are definitely a strong side and have got it takes to win the title, but might eventually fall short at the final hurdle.

Google plans to launch its Project Taara in Kenya

0

With the advent of 5G, there is a huge rise in the demand for a high-speed internet connection to be made available to every area. But high-speed points are still limited to big cities and their surroundings. Rural or underdeveloped zones are not reachable with a high-speed data connection.

Google has always been determined to launch new innovative ways of connecting the outside world with the modern city. Many of its projects like satellites or its special ballons have been developed specifically to target underdeveloped areas. now Google has introduced Project Taara for the people. The projects aim at establishing a broadband connection by making use of invisible light beams.

The project has received partnership with the likes of Econet and Liquid Telecom. The company’s are making an effort to provide high-speed Internet connections for Sub-Saharan Africa. According to sources, Kenya will be the first country to benefit from Project Taara. The countries areas will be deployed with fibre optic infrastructures.

Project Taara will make use of very narrow, invisible light beams to send and receive data. The transmission speed is at 20 Gbps+ speeds over distances of up to 20 Km. sources claim that for the signal to be as clear as possible, the emitter/receiver units need to be placed on high-enough towers or rooftop buildings.

Google has not yet revealed the cost of its project Taara, but undertaking such an initiative in a country like Kenya will bring huge developments to the country. Sources claim that Project Taara is most likely going to provide cost-effective and quick deployment for African areas and maybe even other zones.

Apple might be looking for Samsung to fulfil its chip demands

0

Apple has just revealed its first laptop processor developed in-house. The benchmarks point towards a solid 10 W alternative to Intel and AMD CPUs. The A14 Bionic SoC powering the new iPhone 12 smartphones and the M1 processor with custom ARM cores is among the first chips to integrate 5 nm transistors produced on the TSMC N5 nodes.

We already know that Apple has been collaborating with TSMC since 2015, and the Cupertino giant had secured future 2 nm chip production with the Taiwanese foundries. But Researchers working for NH Investment & Securities are reporting that Samsung is the most likely candidate to take on the unmet M1 orders from TSMC, that Apple requires.

Besides that TSMC is already using most of its 5 nm capacity to produce A14 Bionic SoCs. Hence, a large part of the M1 chip production is currently on hold by TSMC. The iPhone maker certainly cannot afford to delay things too much and hence will be forced to ask Samsung to step in.

Earlier Apple used to employ Samsung, as well as TSMC for SoC production. But Apple realized that TSMC’s packaging technology is superior, plus it awkward collaborating with one of its direct smartphone competitors. However, when all said and done it would be interesting to see what apples new process for a notebook will be worth and how it will stand against the competition.

Apple’s A14 notebook CPU is ARM-based and will be the first deviation from intel. as to whether it will deliver on the company’s promise remains to be seen.

Harry Kane hails Mourinho for instilling confidence into the team

0

Tottenham Hotspur endured a rough campaign last season. Mauricio Pochetino was sacked and Jose Mourinho was appointed as the new manager. Since joining the club, Mourinho has steadily balanced the ship and helped them to finish 6th in the Premier League and just qualify for the Europa League.

This season Tottenham Hotspur has become a genuine title contender. They had a good transfer window, bringing in the likes of Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon and Gareth Bale headlining the list of arrivals in London.

Spurs briefly led the Premier League last weekend before dropping to second and are in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. They are also in good shape to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages. Overall, Mourinho is slowly building a team capable of fighting on all fronts.

Tottenham Hotspur and England captain Harry Kane hailed Mourinho’s influence on the team.

Kane told Spurs TV: “We have had a solid start to the season, I still think there is a lot to improve on in all aspects of our game,”

“There is a long way to go, we are in a solid place at the moment, we are feeling good, but we also know in the Premier League that can turn around if you lose two or three on the bounce.”

“The last couple of wins have been important, we perhaps didn’t perform as well but we ground out the results.”

“We have got players who have won things in the changing room, we have got good experience in the changing room, good leaders in the changing room, and I feel like we are at a place now where if we get it right mentally, we can achieve things, but we are not getting carried away.”

“Obviously Jose is a winner at every level, he has come in with that aura about him and he wants to win things here.”

“It is just installing that confidence into the team, he is a great man, with great experience, so us as players can only look at that and take confidence from that. We have had a great relationship since he walked through the door.”

Tottenham will be hoping to at least finish in the top 4 of the Premier League and will obviously have a go at the Europa League trophy this season.
