Xiaomi introduced World’s first Quad-curved Waterfall Display Concept Smartphone

0

Almost 5-6 years ago we saw the curved display concept for the first time especially in a flagship series of Samsung and from then we have witnessed many smartphones with such waterfall displays. Recently we have seen the Motorola Edge with the true waterfall-display. But these displays were curved on either side of the screen. We have not seen a quad-curved display till now, which means that the screen will be curved on all four sides of the smartphone and not only on two sides.

Xiaomi is always one of the pioneers introducing new concepts of their latest and innovative innovations. This time the company has introduced the first-ever quad-curved waterfall display concept smartphone that will have curves on all four sides and the representation has been shown in the below-mentioned official tweet from the company itself.

Xiaomi’s new innovation will revolutionize hyper quad-curved 88-degree surface and will result in a true port-free unibody design. This upcoming smartphone will definitely be one of its kind and as the pioneer, in this segment, Xiaomi will definitely try to make it a signature device. We will witness a true port-free true full view display, seemingly to have an under-display camera for complementing the continuity and its design.

As mentioned by Xiaomi the design and model have been finalized after “countless breakthroughs in glass bending and laminating technology to extend the limits of the display to infinity.” Xiaomi also added that the port free unibody design has been built using a total of 46 different “groundbreaking” patents. Moreover, we have seen the 88 degree curved edges prior in the devices like the Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana has been handed a 12-months ban by UEFA

0

Cameroon international Andre Onana has been a key player For AFC Ajax since 2016. He was one of the key members of the side which defeated Real Madrid and Juventus in their run to the Champions League semi-finals.

But unfortunately, the disciplinary body of the European football association, UEFA, has imposed a suspension of 12 months on Andre Onana for a doping violation.

In an official statement on Ajax’s website, it’s stated that: “On the morning of October 30, Onana was feeling unwell. He wanted to take a pill to ease the discomfort. Unknowingly, however, he took Lasimac, a drug that his wife had previously been prescribed. Onana’s confusion resulted in him mistakenly taking his wife’s medicine.”

It has been confirmed that Onana and Ajax will appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as he has been handed a 12-month ban from all football competitions.

Ajax Managing director Edwin van der Sar said: “We explicitly renounce performance-enhancing drugs, we obviously stand for a clean sport. This is a terrible setback, for Andre himself but certainly also for us as a club. Andre is a top goalkeeper, who has proven his worth for Ajax for years and is very popular with the fans. We had hoped for a conditional suspension or for a suspension much shorter than these twelve months, because it was arguably not intended to strengthen his body and thus improve his performance. ”

It is a very unfortunate event for a young and budding footballer. Being banned for 12 months will have an adverse effect on him. If he has taken the medicine by mistake, he shouldn’t have been banned for a year. Maybe, CAS will overturn the judgement of UEFA.

NBA All-Star 2021: Kevin Durant and LeBron James lead respective conferences in first returns of voting

0

While the NBA is finalizing a deal to hold the 2021 All-Star Game in Atlanta on March 7, All-Star voting opened on January 28 and ran through February 16. On Thursday the league revealed the first results with the top 10 players named for each conference in the backcourt and frontcourt.

Like every year, fan voting accounts for 50 percent of the final vote for the five starters named in each conference, with the coaches and media each having a 25 percent say in the starters. The player with the most number of votes in each conference is named a captain, and the two captains pick teams from the pre-selected pool of All-Stars.

After the first returns, in the Eastern backcourt, Kevin Durant leads all vote-getters in the league, with fellow Brooklyn teammates Kyrie Irving and James Harden respectively, behind Wizards star Bradley Beal.

In the Western Conference, LeBron James sits atop all front court players while also leading the conference in votes. Stephen Curry returned to the top spot for guards after being out last season with a broken hand.

According to the results released by the NBA, Durant leads all players with 2,302,705 votes, while James comes in close at 2,288,676. Stephen Curry is the only other player who has received a minimum of two million votes (2,113,178). Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal leads all Eastern Conference guards with 1,273,817 votes.

Despite coming back from a torn Achilles, Durant has shattered even the most optimistic expectations for him. The Nets megastar is averaging 30.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per night. He is also shooting 53.3 percent overall and a career-high 45.2 percent from the three-pointer line.

Reigning two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo is having a dominant season with 27 points, 11.2 rebounds and six assists in 20 games for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Perhaps the biggest surprise from the first round of voting is that Anthony Davis sits fourth among frontcourt players in the Western Conference. This season, he has not been as dominant statistically as he has in the past. Averaging 22.3 points per game, he is on pace to record his lowest average since 2013-14. He is also averaging the fewest rebounds per game (8.7) since he was a rookie in 2012-13.

Liverpool banned from travelling to Germany for their Champions League match against RB Leipzig

0

Liverpool is scheduled to play RB Leipzig on 16th February in Red Bull Arena. But Germany currently has a flight ban in place for passengers coming in from areas affected by mutations of the coronavirus and the UK is also on that list.

A spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry confirmed to Sky Germany that Liverpool would not be given a special permit: “The Corona Protection Ordinance passed by the federal government last Friday only provides for a few exceptions and no special regulations for professional athletes.”

“The Federal Police today informed RB Leipzig that the described case constellation does not fall under the exceptional circumstances.”

To cope with the threats of the Coronavirus pandemic, UEFA has already made plans at the beginning of the campaign to find ‘safe’ venues in case if the scheduled venue is not safe. The Puskas Arena in Budapest is one such safe venue.

So if Liverpool and RB Leipzig fail to come up with an alternative, the Round of 16 first leg match can be played in the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Another possibility is that the match can be postponed. The latest possible date to finish last-16 games has been set to 2nd April.

The last option, which is the most unlikely is that RB Leipzig could be forced to forfeit the match with a 0-3 scoreline if they fail to find a solution.

Another thing, if Germany’s flight restrictions are extended, it may also affect Manchester City’s trip to face Borussia Monchengladbach on 24th February.

MIUI Xiaomi's MIUI 12.5 update allows Google Mobile Services installation on smartphones in China

In a recent rollout of MIUI 12.5, the new OS, many users in China have noticed that they are not allowed to install Google services in their Xiaomi devices anymore. Xiaomi has also stated that this operating system no longer supports this feature. Google Mobile Services is essential for smartphone users. It aids in downloading key Google applications.

In China, there are several applications which can help you. They are not dependent on Google Play store like the people of other countries are. The alternatives available to them are more than enough. Most China devices do not support GMS, and now the global smartphone brand, Xiaomi has joined the forces as well.

The US and China are in a heated trade and business environment since the last three-four years. The Donald Trump-led government even imposed some hefty sanctions on Chinese giant, Huawei. As there is still no end to this trade war, people suspect that the US can levy sanctions and restrictions to other Chinese companies’ operations in the US. Thus, causing a huge blow to their business.

As of now, Xiaomi has not stated that which all of its models do not support GMS applications now. The reports suggest that Redmi K30 Ultra and Redmi 10X 5G users have confirmed that they are unable to download any of Google’s application.

Google is exploring an Anti-Tracking feature for Android, after Apple’s revelation

0

According to a report first released by Bloomberg, Google is considering developing an Android alternative to Apple Inc.’s new anti-tracking feature, signalling towards an acceptance of user privacy by the internet industry.

The increasing pressure on large tech companies to favour user privacy is showing as the search giant is discussing how it can limit data collection and cross-app tracking on the Android OS. However, Google is planning to do it in a less stringent way than Apple’s solution.

Google is trying to find the right balance between the rising demands of privacy-conscious consumers with advertisers and developers’ financial needs. Similar to how the Alphabet Inc. unit is slowly developing a new privacy standard for web browsing called the Privacy Sandbox, it seeks input from its stakeholders.

Google has a vested interest in helping partners to continue generating revenue by targeting ads to Android device users as there have been investments of more than $100 billion in annual digital ad sales.

“We’re always looking for ways to work with developers to raise the bar on privacy while enabling a healthy, ad-supported app ecosystem,” a Google spokesman said in a statement.

In a forthcoming software update, iOS 14.5, Apple has added quite a lot of new features, one of them being App Tracking Transparency. The tool asks the consumer for their permission to let apps collect data about them across other apps and websites. The digital advertising industry has been shaken by this move. Facebook and other companies have complained the feature will create a loss of revenue as it will limit their ability to effectively serve personalized ads.

According to Bloomberg, a Google solution is likely to be less strict, and the exploration into an Android alternative to Apple’s feature is still in the early stages. Google offers a framework for developers on the iPhone to monetize their apps using Google ads. In a recent blog post, Google said Apple’s ad-tracking update means developers “may see a significant impact” on their ad revenue.

To get the balance between keeping advertisers happy while improving privacy, the discussions around Google’s Android solution indicate that it could be similar to the Privacy Sandbox, its planned Chrome web browser changes. The company said in 2020 that it intended to phase out third-party cookies in Chrome within two years and reiterated the plan earlier this year. Cookies are a way for websites to track consumers of the web to serve them more personalized ads.

Privacy Sandbox allows some ad targeting with less-specific data collection. According to Bloomberg, “As part of that solution, the company has developed a technology called Federated Learning of Cohorts that lets advertisers target groups of people with similar interests rather than individuals. Google is likely to take a similar approach with Android.”

Real Madrid can lose David Alaba to Premier League side

Real Madrid is not in the pole position to sign David Alaba.

According to the report by Diario AS, Real Madrid are not the front runner anymore. Last month it was reported that the Austrian left-back would join the Spanish side next summer. But the conversations between Madrid and Alaba’s agent, Pini Zahavi, aren’t as advanced as reported in Spain. Many big clubs are interested in signing the defender. As per the report, the 28-year-old left-back is considering a move to England to join Chelsea.

David Alaba joined Bayern Munich in 2009. He has played 408 games with Bayern Munich and scored 32 goals. He has won 9 Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich. He has won 2 UEFA Champions League titles in his time at Bayern Munich. He was the part of the treble-winning teams in both times in 2013 and 2020.

His contract with the German side will end in June 2021. Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said to Sky Sports this week, “I am 99.9 percent sure Alaba will leave the club at the end of this season. We will part in a friendly way and I hope he can say goodbye to us with more titles.”

“He is fully committed to us and he is a nice guy that we all like. He deserves to be treated well until his last day at Bayern.”

“David can sign for the club he wants. I do not know if he will arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid, but it is a great club and I can understand that it is interesting for him.”
