Flipkart to spun off PhonePe with new deal

0

The digital payment system has been adopted by most of the users in the world. The current pandemic has shown us just what exactly is the value of the digital currency in our lives. PhonePe is a well know digital transaction service provider and is a preferred payment method of many, including me.

Recently the company raised $700 million in a fresh round of funding led by Walmart. Flipkart announced that PhonePe will now be partially spun off into a separate entity. It will get a new Board of Directors and will also have a new shareholding pattern. Flipkart fully owns PhonePe, and now the company is pushing it for a partial spun off with this fundraising.

“This partial spin-off gives PhonePe access to dedicated long-term capital to pursue our vision of providing financial inclusion to a billion Indians,” said Sameer Nigam, founder and CEO of PhonePe. After the fund infusion, PhonePe is now valued at $5.5 billion. Flipkart will continue to remain its majority shareholder, but its stake will now be reduced to 87% from 100%.

According to a joint statement from Flipkart and PhonePe, “Flipkart’s Board determined that this was the right time to partially spin-off PhonePe so it can access dedicated capital to fund its long-term ambitions over the next three to four years.”

According to sources, Flipkart will also create an Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP) for its employees. “This move will help PhonePe maximize its potential as it moves to the next phase of its development, and it will also maximize value creation for Flipkart and our shareholders.”

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 is a good choice for crypto miners but comes with power consumption issues

0

Digital marketing and transactions have been the go-to norm of our society due to the sudden outburst of Covid-19. The consumer spending curve has been shifted, and more and more people are being driven towards spending digitally. As such, the rise in demand for cryptocurrency is inevitable. The currency was already a hot topic among many digital transaction service providers, and it looks like, with the upcoming advanced processors, the value of cryptocurrency is only surging high.

The recent cryptocurrency mining benchmarks results of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 indicate a card is a compelling option for cryptocurrency miners. Especially for those looking to mine Ethereum. According to sources, the GeForce RTX 3080 delivers nearly 75 MH/s under DaggerHashimoto. But when the card is overclocked, its performance jumps to 93 MH/s.

Reports indicate that GeForce RTX 2080 Ti only turns in 54 MH/s, while the older flagship GeForce GTX 1080 Ti manages around 30 MH/s. The GeForce RTX 3080 comes at a lower price tag and with a high hash rate. It could very well turn into a favorable choice for crypto miners in 2021. But there is only one problem that the miners will face. The problem is high power consumption.

The graphics card has a 320W TDP, which is one of the highest which is currently available in the market. It is about 70W higher than the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. And if the users manage to overclock the card, then it can easily consume 400w of power. The card is a really great choice for crypto miners. But it’s unfortunate to see the high power consumption, which can cause many miners to have a hard time playing around to manage the power consumption.

Sony’s PlayStation 5 lacks exclusive titles

0

Sony’s PlayStation 5 has already hit the market and is a major hit among gamers. The sales are going hot and are almost to the extent that retailers are running out of stock to sell. But the case is that though the PlayStation 5 is a high-performing next-gen console, it still has not come with many exclusive titles. Most of the PS5 blockbusters, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, and possibly God of War Ragnarok, are cross-gen titles.

Though Sony initially talked about stepping into the next-gen and has proclaimed that most of the games that will come with PS5 can only truly be enjoyed on Sony’s next-gen console. But now Sony’s executives seem to have changed their tone quite a bit.

“We do feel that we have a responsibility to that very large community, and an opportunity to carry on making great PS4 games for as long as the need is there. And I think that is the right thing to do, it’s the rational thing to do, and I think you will see a tail with PS4 that you did not see with PS3. But that said, as time passes, you’re going to see more and more emphasis on PS5 development, and the PS5 SKU will be the lead SKU.”

The Demon’s Souls and the upcoming Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is the upcoming PS5 exclusive titles that might save Sony some face. But still, only two titles are enough to give the gamers a truly next-gen experience.

“Yes, we’ve changed strategies, and here are the reasons why I think a lot of people would be willing to go along. Acting like cross-gen is simply the smart, rational option without acknowledging he was saying the exact opposite thing six months ago is…irritating. Also, just come clean and tell us which games will or won’t be cross-gen.”

Upcoming Lenovo Flex 5 & Ideapad 5 with AMD Ryzen 5000U Renoir refresh APUs spotted

0

Many laptops are coming in 2021 equipped with new Ryzen 5000 series processors for mobile, and we are getting more leaks as the launch approaches next month. Obviously, @momomo_us has found many leaks about these new AMD processors and the laptops featuring them.

One of them includes the 2020’s most popular budget laptop and 2-in-1, i.e., Lenovo Flex 5, which also seems to be upgraded with the latest APUs. We do not know if it’s just a hardware upgrade or a complete overhaul; the only thing that has been leaked is the model numbers and the processors that will be featured on upcoming Lenovo Flex 5 laptops.

All of the Lenovo Flex 5 models seem to feature the Renoir refresh or Lucienne APUs of the Ryzen 5000U series. These are nothing but the same Zen 2 based APUs but with improved clock speeds, and the Flex 5 will be offered with all of the three – 4-core Ryzen 3 5300U, 8-core Ryzen 5 5500U, and Ryzen 7 5700U.

Also, these new APUs have SMT enabled, so more threads, meaning more multithreaded performance. On the other hand, the Ideapad Flex 5 will retain Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 models to offer a better mid-range laptop experience; more leaks and details should surely float in the coming days.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, 5500U, 5600U, and Ryzen 7 5800U specs leaked

0

The Red team is planning to launch its upcoming AMD Ryzen 5000U and 5000H series mobile processors next month at CES 2021. In the meantime, we are getting leaks of all of their upcoming APUs which consists of a mix of Cezanne APUs (based on Zen 3) and Lucienne CPUs (based on Zen 2) for U-series whereas Cezanne APUs for H-series.

AMD is trying to diversifying its product line seeing the immense success they have had with Ryzen 4000 series. Obviously, I don’t mind in the concept only until it can deliver and keep as much as the hype as it faced a lot of issues in keeping up with the demand in 2020.

To start off, we have the Ryzen 5 4600H, or the budget gaming APU of 2021, it retains its 6 cores and 12 threads. But now with a base 3.0GHz clock speed and 4.1GHz boost, only a 100MHz increase in boost clock speeds, however, the Zen 3 architecture will surely make a difference.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, 5500U, 5600U, and Ryzen 7 5800U specs leaked

Coming to the mid-range APU, the Ryzen 5500U will be kind of similar to its predecessor Ryzen 5 4500U retaining the same 6 Zen 2 cores; however, now with 12 threads and a base clock speed of 2.1GHz and 4.0GHz, the exact specs of the Ryzen 5 4600U. Also, its TDP remains the same, i.e., 15W.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, 5500U, 5600U, and Ryzen 7 5800U specs leaked

For the Cezanne APU or the Ryzen 5 5600U, we have 6 Zen 3 cores and 12 threads with improved clock speeds. It has a base clock speed of 2.3GHz and a 4.3GHz boost, thanks to the 25W TDP, which is a huge improvement over the last-gen along with a 12MB of L3 cache.

AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, 5500U, 5600U, and Ryzen 7 5800U specs leaked

Finally, we also have the flagship APU for thin and light notebooks, which is also a Cezanne APU, i.e., based on Zen 3 architecture. It comes with 8 cores and 16 threads and improved 2.0GHz base clock speed, and a whopping 4.4GHz boost frequency, thanks again to the 25W TDP. Interestingly we have a huge 16MB L3 cache, soon we can expect more leaks of these upcoming processors in the coming days.

2020, till now was a crucial year to all of us, condemnation to the coronavirus outbreak. During this time period, our daily habits changed mostly, the maximum of the offline jobs shifted to online, demand for online entertainment hiked, and so on. Currently, we are standing at the edge of 2020 and it’s important, to figure out which android applications become the best. Google, as always did the job for us. The result is as follows.

Excluding the games, Google splits the apps into 7 different categories – Best App, Users’ choice app, best everyday essentials, best for personal growth, best hidden gems, best for fun, and best app for good. Google collects votes throughout November to get the best users’ choice application. Lest’s begin from the bottom.

Best App for Good…

From the category name, hope you already get what exactly these type of applications do. If not, these apps address and handle the most critical and universal issue in society i.e. mental health.

Time to disclose the winner, it’s InnerHour Self-Care Therapy. It’s a complete package with self-care courses and tools. Most importantly, no one needs to spend a single penny to access the app.

Best for Fun…

Well, very tough competition in this section. Five applications managed to secure the same, the topmost position in the list.

Pratilipi FM is one of the five applications and points to note, it’s the only not related to videos. This platform provides free audio stories, books, and podcasts to enthusiasts.

The next two apps are the replacements of the banned Chinese application TikTok. The names are Moj and MX TakaTak. Both are capable of making short videos.

Coming to the fourth one, Reface. Users can replace their faces with stars in various GIFs. The app brings the premium feature to each one’s fingertip.

The last one is Vita, a free yet powerful video editing app. To know, why the app is on the best app list, I recommend trying it once.

Best hidden Gems…

Like the earlier category, this one also contains five applications. This type of mobile software help users to master their skills. Look at those, you will understand clearly.

The first one is Chef Buddy that joins hands with the home chefs as well as food businesses to give a boost on their particular tracks. The second one, Finshots is a stop with well written and easy to follow articles on finance and business around the globe. Next comes Flyx, it’s a streaming social media based on movies and shows. That means it can help you to find out what to watch and where to watch.

At the 4th place, goDutch is breathing. It’s very helpful to split bills among your friends and groups. The last one is Meditate with Wysa. If anyone needs any digital help to relax with sleep meditation it can be one of the best recommendations.

Users’ Choice…

As I said earlier, Google opened the voting section last month for this particular category. There were a total of ten heavyweight nominees like Vita, MX TakaTak, and Dolby On, but the best is best. For 2020, the title goes to Microsoft Office.

The Best App of 2020 >>

Now, time for the best application. Point to note, Google itself pick this based on its own analysis. The best Android Application of 2020 is Meditate with Wysa, which also comes under the Best Hidden Gems list.

Rather than these five, there are two other categories – Best Everyday Essentials and Best for Personal Growth, and each one contains five applications; here are those.

  • Best Everyday Essentials
    • Koo
    • Microsoft Office
    • The Pattern
    • Zelish
    • Zoom
  • Best for Personal Growth
    • Apna – Job Search App
    • Bolkar App
    • Mindhouse
    • MyStore
    • Writco

ASUS TUF Gaming A17 FA706QR-HX004 with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H leaked

0

The next-gen ASUS gaming laptops have been leaked already including ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX551QS laptop with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 with AMD Ryzen 9 5900HS and now its time for the budget ASUS TUF gaming laptop with the upcoming Ryzen 7 5800H.

We have already spotted the 8-core Ryzen 7 5800H in Geekbench, and now it has been spotted powering one of the most demanding laptop successors of 2020. Yes, ASUS TUF gaming laptops with Ryzen 4000H processors were a huge hit, and this is why ASUS wants to continue its momentum of providing the best to gamers with their strong partnership with the Red team.

AMD is gearing up to launch many new APUs in 2021, and ASUS will proudly embrace them to be once again the first in the market with such a wide portfolio. Coming to the leak from @momomo_us, we see the upcoming TUF Gaming A17 laptop feature a 17.3-inch FHD IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate, no change in this segment.

It is expected to house the powerful 8 core, 16 threaded Ryzen 7 5800H that is now known to come with a 3.2GHz base frequency. The APU comes paired with a GeForce RTX 3070-Max Q, so no limitation to RTX 3060 this time. It retains 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD, and a huge 90WHr battery.

Also, there’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth; although versions are not confirmed, I hope ASUS uses Wi-Fi 6 this time. For ports we have 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and 1 x 3.5mm audio combo jack. Seeing the listing image, I strongly feel there will hardly be any to no changes on the design front this time.

Wristcam unveils a strap with front and rear cameras for Apple Watches

Have you ever imagined that your watch can come up with a camera? Did you ever think of clicking pictures or making a video with your wristwatch and not your smartphone? “The future is here”. Apple will be launching the Wristcam, camera attached to the strap of your watch. In this, the strap will be equipped with front and rear-facing cameras. It will be available on the company’s website for around $299.

In reality, the crowdfunding campaign for the development of Wristcam started four years ago but the launch was delayed due to challenges in designing. The Wristcam will have a 2MP front camera for selfies and an 8MP rear camera. The back camera can shoot 1080p video and can also take photos in 4K resolution. Rather than taking your smartphone out of your pockets or bags, you can directly do a video call or a real-time live-streaming from your wristwatch. Isn’t this so easy?

Obviously, there’s a lot of difference between the quality of camera-equipped in the wristwatch and the camera of your iPhone but what we can see is the entry of the new technology which can make the experience of the customer more user-friendly. This device will have a memory of 8 GB. This might be a bit less but is certainly not bad enough.

Due to the camera, the band will weigh around 23 grams. Currently, it will be available in a few colours like noir, blanc, grey, rose, and sage. The device might take up to 20 seconds to share a photo to iPhone from the watch with the aid of Bluetooth. The camera-equipped watches will be first delivered to the customers who were a part of the crowdfunding campaign. This will be around 10,000 units. LEDs will light up when the photo-taking or video mode is on to make the user aware that about it. On first look, this looks like an impressive and innovative use of technology.
