Wristcam unveils a strap with front and rear cameras for Apple Watches

Have you ever imagined that your watch can come up with a camera? Did you ever think of clicking pictures or making a video with your wristwatch and not your smartphone? “The future is here”. Apple will be launching the Wristcam, camera attached to the strap of your watch. In this, the strap will be equipped with front and rear-facing cameras. It will be available on the company’s website for around $299.

In reality, the crowdfunding campaign for the development of Wristcam started four years ago but the launch was delayed due to challenges in designing. The Wristcam will have a 2MP front camera for selfies and an 8MP rear camera. The back camera can shoot 1080p video and can also take photos in 4K resolution. Rather than taking your smartphone out of your pockets or bags, you can directly do a video call or a real-time live-streaming from your wristwatch. Isn’t this so easy?

Obviously, there’s a lot of difference between the quality of camera-equipped in the wristwatch and the camera of your iPhone but what we can see is the entry of the new technology which can make the experience of the customer more user-friendly. This device will have a memory of 8 GB. This might be a bit less but is certainly not bad enough.

Due to the camera, the band will weigh around 23 grams. Currently, it will be available in a few colours like noir, blanc, grey, rose, and sage. The device might take up to 20 seconds to share a photo to iPhone from the watch with the aid of Bluetooth. The camera-equipped watches will be first delivered to the customers who were a part of the crowdfunding campaign. This will be around 10,000 units. LEDs will light up when the photo-taking or video mode is on to make the user aware that about it. On first look, this looks like an impressive and innovative use of technology.
