Sony still working on fixing the image blur on its premium 4K TVs

0

The Japanese based tech giant Sony is known for the quality of hardware which the company sources in its gadgets. It’s latest PlayStation 5 is a clear indication of the company’s dominance in the hardware market. Speaking of dominance, its TV segment, which the tech giant is so proud of, is one of the company’s most profiteering sectors.

But recently, it seems the image quality of the companies TVs has been deteriorating. Sony promised that it would address image blur that set in after enabling 120 Hz at 4K, although it was unclear how the company planned to do this. Though it likes to boast the display resolution and refresh rates of its TVs, it still has not delivered a satisfactory performance.

But the new firmware update from the manufacturer promises to address the issue. Sony claims that v6.0414 adds support for 4K/120 Hz output and the Apple TV app. The firmware update has fixed 4K and 120 Hz issues with XH90. However, the company states that 4K and 120 Hz is only possible when using HDMI 3 and HDMI 4.

According to sources, v6.0414 sharpens images at 4K and 120 Hz, mitigating the existing blurriness. reports indicate the company’s TVs are still struggling to reproduce single-pixel vertical lines accurately at 120 Hz and 4K.

Ultimately, it seems that Sony is unable to fix the blur that affects the likes of the XH90 above 60 Hz at 4K. as to when the company will address the issue with its full might is yet to be seen. but for PS5 owners who play their games using Sony’s TVs might have to endure the disappointment of 4K for quite a while.

South Korea currently leads in 5G speeds globally

0

South Korea, one of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, is reported to have the fastest 5G download speed in the world, reaching over 350 megabits per second (Mbps). The latest wireless technology has the world wrapped around its fingers, with the countries and tech giants worldwide busy setting up their infrastructure to utilize the technology better.

However, it was reported that South Korea’s 5G download speed stood at an average of 351.2 Mbps, followed by Saudi Arabia at 272.8 Mbps and Taiwan at 247.7 Mbps. As the country is home to BTS and tech giants like Samsung, it is only natural that it strives to improve its infrastructure.

As we know, South Korea’s country was the first to commercialize, the latest 5G in April last year, and has racked up just under 10 million 5G users as of end-October. A country report indicates that the country’s 5G users spent connected to the network at 24.6 percent. However, the country is yet to commercialize the standalone version of 5G, requiring support from past generation networks, such as 4G LTE.

The country’s three major mobile carriers promised earlier this year to spend up to 25.7 trillion won ($23.3 billion) until 2022 to update network infrastructure and establish nationwide 5G coverage.

The development of the latest wireless technology and the successful implementation require the wide implementation of technology’s quantum spectrum. As to which country will first become the top to commercialize the technology is yet to be seen.

Apple secures 3nm chip production from TSMC for future products

0

Earlier this year, American tech giants, Apple launched their iPhone 12 with the 5nm A14 Bionic chip and they might have now already shifted their focus to something more powerful as it is reported that Apple has become the first to contract for the 3nm process with TSMC. Currently, after being the first company to launch the 5nm process and the M1 found in the newest Macs, Apple leads the chip industry in terms of lithography.

With Apple securing 80 percent of TSMC’s 5nm orders for 2021, the California-based company has taken a step further ahead of the competition and secured orders for 3nm chips too. However, the new chips are likely for the iPhone, Mac, and iPad to arrive in 2022, so there’s a lot of time to see what this silicon can do.

Apple A14 Bionic based on 5nm process officially announced

Report Says TSMC Will Have to Sell Several Millions of 3nm chips to Make a Profit

With around 600,000 processors expected to be produced annually, TSMC’s trial production looks like it’s on track. Mass production seems likely to start in 2022, but there remains one problem. UDN (United Daily News) mentions that TSMC will need to sell a minimum of 300 million processors to make a profit with the amount of investment the company has made to produce 3nm chips for clients, including Apple.

Even though it has not been confirmed yet how many overall orders Apple intends on securing with TSMC, considering the iPhone giant sells products in the millions, the Taiwanese chipmakers can rely on its lucrative business partner to cover up most of its investment. As for the benefit of 3nm technology, we should expect between 20-25 improved power efficiency from future processors, TSMC mentioned earlier.

It has also been recently reported that Samsung, TSMC’s biggest rival in the chip development race, is jumping directly from 5nm to 3nm, skipping 4nm. However, there is no information about if the performance and power efficiency rating of the Korean giant’s own technology will be sufficient to overtake what TSMC has to offer soon. Next year, Apple’s A15 Bionic will use N5P manufactured by TSMC, offering a small performance and efficiency gain over the A14 Bionic M1 silicon.

13 Million Copies of Cyberpunk 2077 Has Been Sold

0

Now, after the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, we have two points in our hands. One is, the unchecked glitches made it a mess and the current-gen console versions are creating pressure on most of the retailers for refunds. Second is, the game was a major success. Pre-orders of Cyberpunk 2077 had crossed 8 million which is enough to pay off the costs of the game’s development immediately. But that doesn’t describe all the details of who didn’t buy the game pre-ordered. According to the reports, Cyberpunk 2077 has already sold a massive 13 million copies. About the sale of the Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has stated:

“Based on reports obtained from digital distribution platforms and data collected from physical distributors, it estimates that by 20 December inclusive gamers have purchased over 13 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077. This figure represents the estimated volume of retail sales across all hardware platforms (factoring in returns submitted by retail clients in brick-and-mortar as well as digital storefronts), aka the “sell-through” figure, less all refund requests e-mailed directly to the Company by the publication date of this report in the framework of the “Help Me Refund” campaign.”

Now we all know that several companies like Microsoft, CD Projekt Red themselves, and Sony have now offered no-questions-asked refunds to those who bought Cyberpunk 2077. It is yet to know how many numbers of refunds have been requested for the game. But, the sales figure of Cyberpunk 2077 is showing that the game’s momentum has not hurt by the returns they are going to make. Let’s see what happens with these growing figures – if the number of Cyberpunk 2077 sale sticks around 13 million still after a month, then it will be clear that the bad press has affected the game badly.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 leaks online

0

During the COVID-induced lockdowns, the demand for Chromebooks has increased in the market. with the current Chromebook market already crossing its previous value. It’s only fair that tech giants look to expand their sector even further.

In a new leak, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Chromebook 2 is showing off the return of the company’s unique bright orange coloring in an otherwise similar-looking design. We can see some visible changes to the new model, including minor adjustments to the port layout and the extension of Samsung’s application of the orange color.

The keyboard provided on the model has been made a more neutral black, even as the orange hue has extended to the sides of the laptop. But that’s just on the outside, for internal specs the model will be powered by the new 11th Gen Intel laptop chips out. The battery life has been improved and the graphics performance of the upcoming model has been upgraded since its predecessors.

When The original Galaxy Chromebook was launched, it was a big disappointment in the battery and cooling section. As such the performance took a major hit. Samsung seems to be focussing on this area of weakness of its previous Chromebook. As to what additional specs it will carry remains to be seen.
