Chinese companies ahead in the race of producing DDR5 RAM modules

The latest in the RAM standard, the DDR5 will soon be adopted by the desktop and laptop PC markets. The new standard will be arriving this year, and the high-end PC makers are gearing to embrace the new technology.

According to sources, companies like ADATA, Team Group, and Jiahe Jinwei already announced their upcoming DDR5 modules scheduled to be released in the second half of 2021. The new DDR5 modules from Team Group can operate at much higher voltages thanks to a new power management system integrated into the modules themselves rather than on the motherboards, as is the case with the DDR4 standard.

Chinese companies are booming to adopt the new technology, and it’s mainly because the country is stopping its dependency on foreign products. According to sources, Jiahe Jinwei already got the green light for DDR5 module production earlier this spring. Netac has also announced domestic DDR5 module stock production soon, and the company announced that its RAM modules could be overclocked to 10 GHz.

Netac has already received a sizable supply of Micron Z9ZSB DDR5 chips with 2 Gb X 8 capacities and 40-40-40 timings to boost its production. According to sources, the 10 GHz modules will be launched in a few years since the 8.4 GHz modules are expected to launch in 2022.

Intel’s new Alder Lake CPUs, which will launch in the late Q3 this year, will support DDR5-4800 by default, and AMD did not even specify the exact DDR5 support for its upcoming Zen 4 processors.

Ubisoft’s roadmap reveals many AAA titles to be released

According to recent sources, we have found that Ubisoft has just released its roadmap for the next couple of years. The supposed roadmap has been released by an “intern” who is working in the game development industry.

So, here’s the roadmap data which was released by the company or maybe not. Thus, take it with a pinch of salt:

2021

  • Far Cry 6: CGI and gameplay video for E3 (June 12-15) and release on June 25
  • Riders Republic: Sports game to be released on July 16
  • Skull & Bones: Much-anticipated pirate game scheduled for fall/autumn 2021
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine: Gameplay footage already leaked; expect on December 10
  • Prince of Persia remake: Vague mention of December 31 date

2022

  • New Assassin’s Creed title
  • The Crew 3
  • Avatar game
  • Beyond Good & Evil 2
  • New IP (involving antagonists called The Crull)

Pre-production plans

  • Star Trek game to tie-in with planned 2023 Star Trek 4 movie
  • New IP from a new Ubisoft studio
  • Star Wars open-world game

The legitimacy of the roadmap is questioned because such highly secret data cannot be accessible by an intern. But, since the released report includes the telling words “nothing planned” regarding the future of the Splinter Cell series, which is still waiting for a sequel to 2013’s well-regarded Blacklist.

However, if we are going according to the list then it is stated that Far Cry 6 is expected to appear at least before the end of June. However, according to a recent Ubisoft earnings call, it will come by the end of September.

Skull & Bones was expected to see a release in the second half of 2018, and many of us thought that the game was trapped in development. However, we now know that the production of the action-adventure title was in “full swing with a new vision,” at Ubisoft.

Samsung electronics feeling pressure in the growing DRAM and NAND market

According to the latest sources, Samsung Electronics is investing heavily in the foundry business and AI semiconductors. They are designated as the next growth drivers for the company, and the biggest issue for the department concerns investment in DRAM facilities.

Thus, the chipmaker has come up with a relatively conservative investment plan for the memory business. However, sources indicate that aggressive investment by its competitors such as the Micron Technology of the U.S. is shaking Samsung Electronics’ status as the No. 1 memory maker. Its competitors are focusing majorly on the manufacturing of advanced memory devices.

For 29 years, Samsung Electronics been the leader in the global memory of the DRAM and NAND market. However, in recent years, the South Korean-based tech giant has seen its market share declined severely. In 2026, the company’s share in the DRAM market stood at 48 percent, and it dropped to 43.1 percent in 2020. However, in the fourth quarter, it further dropped to 42.1 percent.

The same thing can be said by the NAND flashes, where Samsung’s market share used to exceed 40 percent in 2017, but it has now fallen to 33.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The continuous pressure and development of advanced memories from its competitors have increased the worries of the South Korean tech giant. Micron Technology, in November 2020, launched the world’s first 3D 7th-generation V NAND flashes with 176 or more layers.

Whereas Samsung Electronics is currently in its 6th-generation V NAND flashes. And its Memory Department is trying hard to move up the commercialization of the 7th generation NAND flashes, scheduled for the second half of 2021.

ZTE A31 Pro tipped to launch soon

0

ZTE just launched the Axon 30 series smartphones in China a few days back with some really exciting features. These are the smartphones that do not have under-display camera technology. The company said it will take some more time to launch the next generation, under-display smartphone model. The previous generation of under-display camera smartphones was a breakthrough in the smartphone industry where ZTE has made a prominent mark from its side for the upcoming future ahead.

As per a well-known Chinese tipster who goes by the name Digital Chat Station, ZTE will soon launch a new smartphone named ZTE Blade 31 Pro in China. The tipster also added this year the company’s pace of new products is fast. Neither had he mentioned any additional information about the smartphone, nor anything can be found online.

The last time we checked the ZTE A31 got several certifications and now the pro version of the series has also been tipped ahead of launch. Though nothing has surfaced regarding the smartphone except the name, we assume that the launch might delay a little bit in this situation.

This smartphone will be a mid-range offering from the Chinese brand. Moving on, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra is almost the same as the Axon 30 Pro, having a 300 Hz touch sampling rate which is lower than the 360 Hz touch sampling rate of the previous device. This display has a 95% screen-body ratio and a single punch-hole at the center. It is also powered by the same Snapdragon 888 SoC. In terms of optics, Axon 30 Ultra offers quad-cameras at the back. This module consists of three 64 MP cameras (Primary lens, ultrawide sensor, and superhuman camera) and an 8 MP periscope lens. For selfies and video chats, you will get a 16MP selfie shooter.
