Delhi and Kolkata are the world’s two most polluted cities based on PM 2.5 exposure

Two of the world’s most polluted cities are located in India. Delhi and Kolkata are placed highest in pollution due to fine particulate matter, a significant air pollutant, according to the most recent assessment on the air quality and health in cities around the world. Mumbai, India’s financial hub, is ranked 14th on this list.

Polluted Cities: Delhi & Kolkata

The State of Global Air report, Air Quality, and Health in Cities was published on Wednesday. Focusing on two of the most hazardous pollutants, fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide, the report studies pollution and its consequences in more than 7,000 cities around the world (NO 2).

Delhi and Kolkata were discovered to be the two most polluted cities in the world when PM2.5 levels were compared, with an average annual exposure (relative to population) of 110 g/m3 for Delhi and 84 g/m3 for Kolkata. Microgram per cubic metre is the definition of the unit g/m3.

The levels of NO2 in the 7,000 cities were also compared in the paper. According to N02 levels, no Indian city was in the top 10, or even top 20, most polluted cities. Shanghai is the most polluted city in this ranking, with average annual exposure to 41 g/m3. According to the paper, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Delhi each had average NO2 concentrations between 20 and 30 g/m3.

Two of the most common air pollutants in cities and metropolitan regions around the world are PM2.5 and NO2. PM2.5 is a term used to describe airborne, inhalable particles less than 2.5 micrometers (m) in size that are emitted into the atmosphere by a variety of sources, including factories, industries, car engines, fires, and building site dust, etc. The combustion of fossil fuels, such as coal, gas, and oil, particularly the fuel used in automobiles, produces NO2.

Striking Global Exposure

Based on the report, an analysis of data from 2010 to 2019 showed “strikingly different” global exposure patterns for the two main air contaminants. NO2 exposure is high in both high- and low-income cities, even though cities in low- and middle-income countries often have higher levels of PM2.5 pollution.

Cancer, strokes, heart problems, respiratory issues, and other disorders can all be brought on by exposure to these dangerous pollution particles. The Global Burden of Disease project of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and the Health Effects Institute have joined forces to create The State of Global Air.

Anurag Kashyap’s new directorial film Dobaaraa also dropped with the release date. The film is featuring Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. The trailer completely left the fans thoroughly intrigued. This film is mainly a remake of the 2018 Spanish film Mirage, Dobaaraa unveils such an incredible story that unveils how a lead character changes the past in a thunderstorm.

The thriller adaptation also features Rahul Bhat and Pavali Gulati. The film is based on a woman who tries to protect the life of a boy connecting with each other via an outlandish television that forms the crux of the movie.

The new trailer starts with Taapsee and her entire family members unveiling that they are living in a house next to the place where a young boy became dead due to a thunderstorm about 26 years ago. It seems that history will repeat once again, as the thunderstorm is once again on the way to hitting the city.

The thrilling and supernatural fact is that Taapsee’s character trying to communicate with that same young boy. On the next morning, when she wakes up, she finds herself in a new present. Now, she is going to participate in all of the losses that just set everything in place again.

Gautam Adani’s Adani Power will purchase DB Power for Rs 7,017 crores

Gautam Adani, the chairman of the billionaire industrial conglomerate Adani Group, would pay more than Rs 7,000 crore to acquire DB Power. After SB Energy India, this would be his second-largest M&A in the electricity sector (for which some Rs 26,000 crore was shelled out last year).

In Janjgir Champa, Chhattisgarh, DB’s 1,200 MW coal-fired power plant is being acquired by Adani.

As per the power arm of the Adani Group, DB has power purchase agreements for 923. 5 MW of its capacity, which are supported by fuel supply arrangements with Coal India. Adani’s thermal power activities in Chhattisgarh will increase as a result of the agreement, which needs to be approved by the government’s antitrust office as well as other regulators and interested parties.

For Rs 3,530 crore, Adani Power purchased the 1,370MW Chhattisgarh plant owned by GMR Group in 2019. It also purchased the 600MW unit from Avantha Group in Chhattisgarh in the same year.

With a combined operating capacity of more than 12,450 MW, the DB agreement will further bolster Adani’s position as India’s largest private sector thermal power producer and provide it a strong foothold in the nation’s major power generating and consumption belts.

DB Power Ltd

In fiscal 2022, DB, which was founded on October 12, 2006, had a profit of Rs. 580 crores on a revenue of Rs. 3,488 crores. Diligent Power, a division of the Dainik Bhaskar Group, owns the majority of it (approximately 84%); Global Infrastructure Partners, a private equity firm that focuses on infrastructure, owns the remaining (16%).

The promoters of DB Power had previously discussed selling the Chhattisgarh unit with Resurgent Power, a fund supported by Tata Power, Canada’s CDPQ, and other well-known figures, but no agreement was reached. In a regulatory filing, Adani Power stated, that the agreement’s initial term (for DB) is up to October of this year, although it may be mutually extended.

Based on a Crisil study from June 2022 on DB Power, payback of debt and an improvement in the liquidity position are just two of the many variables that have contributed to the company’s business performance and financial risk profiles improving dramatically.

Rajasthan Warriors’ Jamadar and Sreejesh of Mumbai Khiladis are the top performers in Ultimate Kho Kho

Rajasthan Warriors’ captain Majahar Jamadar and Sreejesh S of Mumbai Khiladis have emerged as the highlight of the opening week of Ultimate Kho Kho Season 1.

Ultimate Kho Kho has been featuring six teams—Chennai Quick Guns, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Khiladis, Odisha Juggernauts, Rajasthan Warriors and Telugu Yoddhas, in the Season 1, which has been taking place at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Pune, Maharashtra.

The Season 1, which kickstarted on august 14, will go on till September 4.

Even though their respective teams haven’t had expected starts in the league, both caught many eyeballs for their sensational performances in India’s first-ever franchise-based league so far.

Kolhapur boy Jamadar is not only the top attacker of the league with 52 total points but also leads the chart of total sky dives (9) and total high fives (4). The 31-year-old attacker has scored an impressive 48 points by dismissing opposition defenders with dives.

Chennai Quick Guns’ Ramji Kashyap (46) and Arun Gunki of Telugu Yoddhas (32) claim the second and third position respectively in the top attackers’ list.

He has won Attacker of the Match award twice and Ultimate Kho of the Match award once during the three matches. The Rajasthan Warriors’ skipper, Jamadar has been giving his all for the team but they are yet to secure the first win of the season.

Trivandrum (Kerala)-born Sreejesh, on the other hand, has emerged as the top defender in the first week of Ultimate Kho Kho.

He has defence time of seven minute and 39 seconds to his name and is followed by Chennai Quick Guns’ Ramji Kashyap (7mins, 8sec) and Mumbai Khiladis’ Vijay Hajare (6min, 31sec).

The 27-year-old chaser played a crucial role in Mumbai Khiladis’ lone victory on Monday by scoring bonus points in defence and also spending close to three minutes on the field. For his brilliant show, he has also adjudged Defender of the Match in that game.

On Sunday, Gujarat Giants will look to maintain their unbeaten run when they clash with Odisha Juggernauts while Rajasthan Warriors will hope to clinch a maiden win in the league against Telugu Yoddhas.

Oppo officially unveils its Android 13-based ColorOS 13

OnePlus unveiled OxygenOS 13, the newest iteration of its proprietary Android skin that was based on Android 13, earlier this month. Oppo unveiled ColorOS 13 today, and no one should be surprised to see how much it resembles the skin on OnePlus phones.

Similar to OxygenOS 13, ColorOS 13 also features the new Aquamorphic Design, which aims to provide a fluid, colourful, and inclusive user interface (UI) and animations that are motivated by how water behaves in the natural world.

The new operating system includes a new system theme palette based on the colour of light that changes between sunrise and sunset at sea level, a new font with enhanced readability, and a card-style layout that will show information in a straightforward and aesthetically pleasing sequence.

New animations included in Oppo’s most recent skin will result in softer, more realistic, and more natural interaction effects. The new Quantum Animation Engine, which is in charge of providing exact feedback while interacting with the UI, powers the animations. In addition, ColorOS 13 offers new inclusive drawings, a dedicated IoT device management module, media playback controls in the revised Control Center, and more. The new Shadow-Reflective Clock widget accurately displays the passage of time.

New multitasking-enhancing capabilities are also included in Oppo ColorOS 13.

Oppo Pad Air offers Multi-Screen Connect functionality, a new Meeting Assistant that guarantees customers receive a steady network connection and significantly fewer interruptions during meetings. Additionally, you receive a new sidebar shortcut for taking meeting notes.

Netflix has unveiled the first trailer of Wednesday‘s film. This is Tim Burton’s reimagining of the Addams Family show. According to Netflix, the Wednesday show is a sleuthing, supernaturally diffused mystery that’s charting the years of Wednesday Addams like the student at Nevermore Academy. The attempt of Wednesday to master her emerging psychic powers, thwart such a monstrous killing spree that also has terrorized the local town, and get to solve the supernatural mystery thriller that just embroiled her parents for 25 years. When all starts to navigate her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

At the start of the trailer, there is a voice-over, “Miss Addams, you certainly had a very interesting educational journey” that’s just followed by “Eight schools in last five years.” In the trailer later we have seen Jenna Ortega who features such a titular character that says, “ Little did I know that I’d be stepping into a nightmare. The complete mystery, mayhem, and murder I think I’m going to love it here.”

Netflix also expose the first black and white look image on social media that just reveals the main characters that just made by cartoonist Charles Addams.

Corsair teases its MP700 PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSD targeted toward AMD’s AM5 platform

The AMD AM5 platform will be fully compatible with Corsair’s upcoming MP700 PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSD, which has been teased by the company. Corsair claims that development on its upcoming MP700 SSD, which complies fully with PCIe Gen 5 standard, has already begun. The next-generation SSD will have an x4 NVMe 2.0 interface and be M.2 compliant. While Corsair hasn’t yet provided specifics about the SSD’s specifications, they have provided performance data.

Corsair claims that the MP700 PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSD can write at 9,500 MB/s and read at 10,000 MB/s (Sequentially).

Different models will have different speeds (such as capacities). The MP700 will provide up to 64% faster read and 41% faster write rates when compared to Corsair’s fastest drive at the moment, the MP600 PRO XT.

Given that the existing drives are based on the Phison E18 controller, the high-end Gen 5 controller from Phison will undoubtedly power it. The drive will deliver approximately 28.5% fewer speeds than the controller is capable of at 10,000 MB/s read rates. The Gen 5 SSDs from Corsair may also fully support AMD’s Smart Access Storage (SAS) and Microsoft DirectStorage APIs. It’s interesting to note that the majority of Gen 5 SSD producers, including Phison itself, have picked AMD for their upcoming Gen 5 SSD solution demonstrations.

AMD has stated that it will later this month introduce its next-generation Ryzen 7000 Desktop CPUs and the corresponding AM5 platform, so we can anticipate the introduction of the company’s next-generation SSD products soon after.
