AMD announces its HYPER-RX and  FSR 3.0 with “Fluid Motion Frame”

0

Along with the Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX announcements for December 13, AMD also revealed that a new version of its scaling technology would be released in the first half of 2023.

By enhancing performance when games are played at extremely demanding settings, FSR 3 will combine AMD’s super-resolution technology with the new Fluid Motion Frame technology to deliver more frames per second (such as 4K). One of the first devices to include FSR 3 functionality is AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT “RDNA 3” graphics cards.

AMD’s FSR 3 will provide up to twice the performance improvement over FSR 2 in 4K resolution. Unreal Engine 5 was demonstrated by AMD, and it exhibited a leap in FPS from 60 (FSR 2) to 112 (FSR 3). The modes and the operation of Fluid Motion Frame technology are still unknown, but Red camp is anticipated to provide additional information in the upcoming weeks.

The short film Beckoning, which Sava Zivkovic and his crew were able to produce with FSR 3 in just four months, was also demonstrated by AMD. The demo utilized Unreal Engine 5 and displayed fantastic visuals.

Furthermore, AMD is releasing a substantial upgrade to their drivers that includes HYPER-RX technology, a function that will reduce latency and increase game performance with only one click.

AMD asserts that its products perform up to 85% better and have a third less latency than competing products in games like Dying Light 2. HYPER-RX seems to be a rival to the combined NVIDIA Reflex and DLSS technology.

Manchester United to renew contracts of 2 important academy graduates soon

0

Manchester United are working towards two new contract renewals – with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho the two players on the top of the list right now.

Both renewals are in the preliminary stages and will be discussed further in the coming weeks. Garnacho scored his first goal for Manchester United last night against Real Sociedad, which went on to be the match-winner for the Premier League side.

Manchester United working on two new contracts for academy graduates

Rashford’s current deal runs out at the end of the season. The Englishman has been quite impressive since the arrival of Erik Ten Hag, scoring seven goals and providing three assists across all competitions so far.

There is an option to extend his contract for one more season, but it is currently the back-up plan for Manchester United. Their primary focus is to negotiate a new long-term deal with the 25-year-old since he is considered a part of their project for the future.

The same can be said for Alejandro Garnacho, who is only 18 and is still finding his way into the first team. A long-term deal has already been discussed between the club and the player. And in the coming months, the renewal should be finalised and made official.

David De Gea is out of contract at the end of the season as well, but United aren’t as strongly motivated to offer him a new deal. They were considering a transfer for Porto’s Diogo Costa. However, with him signing a new deal, there might be a change of plans.

AMD and Ubisoft join hands to enhance the Snowdrop Engine

0

The Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX were among the latest RDNA-3-powered graphics cards AMD introduced, and the company also gave some updates on its collaborations with publishers. The major information is the collaboration between AMD and Ubisoft to enhance the new Snowdrop engine, which will power games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars project, and the Splinter Cell remake, among others.

AMD showcased a quick Snowdrop Engine tech demo with ray-traced global illumination, shadows, and other features. You can view it for yourself at this timestamp. Thankfully, despite the aesthetic bells and whistles, a “well-tuned” AMD ray tracing implementation delivers remarkable speed. The demo runs at over 80fps at 4K with high-performance ray tracing enabled thanks to FSR.

Although it’s unclear how well this Snowdrop Engine demo will function in real games like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, AMD GPU owners who are anticipating Ubisoft’s upcoming slate presumably have nothing to worry about.

AMD also took a moment to mention a few previously announced collaborations with Forspoken and The Callisto Protocol. AMD says that ray tracing will be utilized to “full effect” in The Callisto Protocol, including the usage of shadows, translucency, and glossy refractions to enhance the eerie horror atmosphere. AMD claims that RX 7900 cards would produce “amazing framerates” at “4K and higher” resolutions. In contrast, Forspoken includes ray-traced lighting and shadows and will fully utilize FSR and VRR to enable “extremely fast” performance.

Netflix finally has an Ad-supported Subscription

0

Finally, there is Netflix with advertising since the firm launched its Netflix Basic with Ads in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the UK, the US, and on November 10th, in Spain. After initially refusing to include advertisements in its streaming service, In the US, it costs $6.99 per month.

According to COO Greg Peters’ blog post announcing the tier from October, you’ll see four to five advertisements on Basic with Ads “on average” every hour. You will see advertisements that are 15 or 30 seconds long before and during the content you watch, but you cannot skip or fast-forward through them.

As a “global advertising technology and sales partner” for the new tier, Netflix has a partnership with Microsoft.

TV series and movies will stream at 720p video quality, just like with the ad-free Basic tier, but only a “limited” selection will be available “due to licensing restrictions, which we’re working on,” added Peters. According to a Netflix help page, you will notice a lock icon on shows you are unable to view. Additionally, you won’t be able to download materials for offline viewing. Additionally, some devices, such as the Apple TV, will not support the advertisements tier.

Ads are a major move for the streaming service as it looks for new revenue streams after losing subscribers for two consecutive quarters earlier this year. (In Q3, subscriber numbers started to improve.) However, Disney Plus will launch an ad-supported option on December 8th for $7.99, which is one dollar more expensive than Netflix’s tier.

Spotting a scam: Expert reveals 7 ways to identify fake websites

0

Are you worried about falling victim to online scams and attacks? If so, you are not alone, as 81% of Brits fear fraudulent attacks, according to the NCSC.

Scammers have utilised increasingly creative tactics to gain access to your personal information, making it harder to identify and protect yourself from phishing scams and fraudulent attacks. Recently in the UK, consumers have been exploited via fake texts inviting recipients to apply for the £400 energy bill discount, only to be met with an illegitimate Ofgem website asking for personal financial details.

With this in mind, Bespoke Software Development Company wanted to share some lesser known tips on how to protect yourself from fraudulent websites and popular scams.

7 ways to identify fake websites

1. Examine the address bar

There are a few tell-tale signs as to whether a website is fraudulent or not, and these can be easily spotted by just looking at the address bar. Secure websites often have a padlock in the search bar, and will have ‘HTTPS’ at the start of the URL, signalling that the connection is encrypted. If the website that you are visiting does not have these features, there is a risk it could be fraudulent. It is important that you only visit sites that have ‘HTTPS’, although this does not automatically mean that you can trust the website.

Scammers often imitate the URLs of authoritative and trustworthy brands or websites through changing the URL slightly with misspellings or punctuation differences. If the URL has these features, it is likely that it could be a phishing site infected with malicious software.

Expert tips:

  • Never trust a HTTP website with your personal details.
  • Do not ignore warnings from your web browser when you are entering dangerous or deceptive sites.
  • Always check for spelling mistakes and other inconsistencies in the URL.

2. Check for legitimate details

To avoid risking your money and data when purchasing online, you can check for the company’s existence in real life. You can do this by checking a company’s address and contact information, try using google maps to see if the company’s address exists or calling the listed phone number to see if anyone answers. Remember, a trusted website would want to give their customers a way of contacting them. If you suspect a website is mimicking an ‘official’ website, you can check that the addresses listed matches up with the one listed on the official register for UK businesses, to further verify its legitimacy.

Expert tip:

  • Taking a glance at the company’s reviews can also give a key indication of the legitimacy of a website, but be aware that scam websites can often falsify ‘good’ reviews.

3. Recognise the signs of phishing

Phishing is most commonly carried out via email, however recently there have been more and more cases of ‘smishing’ whereby criminals send fraudulent texts. In the UK, fraudsters have been pretending to be affiliated with HMRC via text, often threatening individuals with court action or hefty fines.

Here are some key indicators of phishing:

  • A sense of urgency or threat of negative consequences,
  • An email is not personalised,
  • Spelling and grammatical errors,
  • Suspicious attachments or links,
  • Spoof email addresses.

Expert tips:

  • Do not respond to emails, phone calls or text messages utilising these tactics.
  • Do not open attachments or click on links from unfamiliar sources.
  • Set your mobile phone to update its software automatically to provide crucial protection against security threats.

4. Protect your personal information

With just a few personal details, hackers can easily access financial records, credit card details and other personal documents. This is why it is so important to enable anti-virus software to help protect your personal information by detecting and removing malicious software from your device. Turning on your computer’s firewall will also block suspicious activity through monitoring website traffic, further protecting yourself from fraudulent websites.

Expert tips:

  • Run virus scans regularly.
  • Keep your anti-virus software up to date.

5. Be cautious of paid ads

Fraudulent websites that imitate official or trusted websites can often be displayed at the top of a search engine result page via paid ads. You may accidentally click on this advert thinking that this is the official site, however you must be wary of fraudulent sites.

Expert tip:

  • Look out for the word ‘Ad’ on the search result to identify whether the listing is an advert or not, usually the official website is the second result below the ad.

6. Look out for poor website functionality and content

Poor website design and functionality can indicate a fraudulent website. If you take a deeper dive into the formatting and design of the website and notice that there are some inconsistencies, this may be something to be wary of.

Expert tips:

  • Protect your accounts from suspicious websites by utilising two-factor authentication and a strong password.
  • For additional protection, use a password manager to safely store your credentials.

7. Listen to your instincts

Sometimes going with your gut feeling is the best way to avoid a scam. If you think that something looks odd, or feel that you don’t trust a website – there is probably a reason. It is better to not compromise your personal details if you at all feel uncomfortable when visiting a website.

Expert tips:

  • Remember that it is always safer to stay on the defence than to click on a malicious link.
  • If you are unsure on whether a link is safe or not, you can hover over it to see its destination.

Where should you report suspicious websites or scams?

If you have either been a victim of a scam or spot a suspicious website, you can report this in several ways:
