Some of their tenures were ending and we had to start fresh with a new approach and new mindset. We did not get the results we wanted and after Jay and Ashish came back from Melbourne, we decided, it would be best to have a completely new panel,”– a BCCI official said

2022 smartphone shipment projection was reduced after a disappointing Q3

0

According to the sources, it states that in 2022, smartphone shipments will decline year over year for the first time, except the first Covid-affected year of 2020, as a result of a weaker-than-anticipated holiday season, forcing market trackers to decrease their yearly outlook for the year.

Conditions Dragging down the Demand

IDC India currently forecasts an 8–9% year-over-year decline, whereas Cybermedia Research (CMR) estimates a decline of 5%, Counterpoint Research and Strategy Analytics each forecast a 3% decline, with the macroeconomic environment still having a negative impact on demand, particularly for high-volume entry-level smartphones.

The shift toward high-end, high-performance handsets during the holiday season, which has increased the average sales price to record levels, is expected to boost revenue, according to analysts.

Smartphone sales volumes have never decreased, according to Navkendar Singh, associate vice president at IDC India. The only time it fell was in 2020, the pandemic year when sales ceased as a result of lockdowns.

Weak Demand and Increasing Prices

Despite the beginning of Diwali celebrations earlier than expected, the market tracker has reduced its projections from 160 million to 150 million devices due to the lowest third-quarter shipping since 2019. It further stated that holiday shopping was hampered by weaker demand and rising prices.

Singh noted that Chinese smartphone firms’ innovations in the entry-level market fueled the expansion in the first years of the previous decade. Inflationary pressures on customers at the bottom of the pyramid, higher pricing, and a delayed switch from feature phones to smartphones all had an impact on the industry in 2022.

Compared to early forecasts of 174 million units, CMR India now predicts a 5% reduction in annual shipments to 165 million units. Abhilash Kumar, an analyst at Strategy Analytics, who predicts that shipment volumes will decline to 158 million units in 2022, said that the smartphone market performed worse than anticipated and is predicted to decline 3% YoY due to economic headwinds like rising crude oil prices, inflation, recession concerns, a bearish stock market, and INR depreciation.

About the Smartphone Shipments

The yearly shipment forecast by Counterpoint Research has decreased from 175 million units earlier in the year to 163 million units today. According to Tarun Pathak, research director at Counterpoint Research, individuals hung onto their smartphones for longer due to macroeconomic concerns and a lack of excitement in the entry-level market. Upgrade cycles, which were formerly between 23 and 24 months, have increased to 28 to 29 months.

Although annual volume sales are predicted to decline, revenues from smartphones are at an all-time high due to increased average selling prices, which experts believe is a sign that consumers are choosing better upgrades to premium, high-performance devices.

According to Counterpoint Research, the top three smartphone manufacturers in 2022 will be Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi, with annual smartphone sales revenues increasing by 4%. According to IDC India, as a result of consumers rising the price ladder to purchase more expensive handsets, smartphone average selling prices reached a record $226 during the festive quarter, increasing by 15% on a year-over-year basis and 6% on a quarterly basis.

Xiaomi India, which generates volumes in the sub-$100 bracket, witnessed shipments decreased by 18% year over year in the third quarter, according to IDC India. This was reflected in the market shares of smartphone brands.

As per Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 13 became the first iPhone to top overall smartphone shipments in India in a quarter, helping luxury smartphone brand Apple achieve its greatest market share of 5% during the quarter.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Samsung’s next flagship will have overclocked GPU

Some forthcoming smartphones with the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 have formerly gone through Geekbench – the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 and S23 Ultra, for illustration. When they did it, the standard reported the following frequentness for the three clusters3.36 GHz Prime core,2.80 GHz Performance cores and2.02 GHz effectiveness cores.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Samsung’s next flagship will have overclocked GPU

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 utilized by Samsung could have an overclocked GPU

There are plenitude of forthcoming smartphones that will feature the 8 Gen 2 chipset. And we ’ve seen marks from some of those too,e.g. the vivo X90 Pro and iQOO 11. But look nearly – the frequence of the Prime core on those is listed as3.19 GHz.
A many days ago Ice Universe said that the European interpretation will use an “ exclusive high- frequence interpretation ” of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. still, the marks we ’ve seen so far came from the US models, so this is presumably a global thing rather than a Europe-only thing.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in Samsung’s next flagship will have overclocked GPU

Now the leakster adds further detail – the Prime CPU core will indeed be clocked at3.36 GHz rather of3.2 GHz. But also the GPU will run briskly too – 719 MHz, over from 680 MHz.
Qualcomm has sometimes released “ AC Qualcomm has sometimes released “ AC ” performances that run at advanced timepieces than the base chip. For illustration, the Snapdragon 855 has a model number SM8150, the SM8150- AC is the 855, which boosted the Prime core from2.84 GHz to2.96 GHz. The 8 Gen 2 that was blazoned this week is the SM8550- AB, so this should be the SM8550- AC.

It’s not clear whether this chip that’s bound for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be dubbed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or commodity differently. But it seems that Qualcomm and TSMC set up enough headroom for a decent overclock.
Sanctioned figures from Qualcomm claim that the 8 Gen 2 CPU is 35 faster than its 8 Gen 1 counterpart, the GPU is 25 faster. Given the overclock to both, this new interpretation of the chip should be indeed briskly. It’s hard to tell how important briskly, however, as it’s too early to read into standard results.

World Cup 2022 group C analysis – Who makes it to the knockouts?

Argentina and Poland are the two favourites to make it to the knockouts. The Albiceleste are also the pick for many to win the World Cup this year, after their Copa America win last year. Manchester United to take action against Cristiano Ronaldo for interview with Piers Morgan

0

Manchester United have released an official statement in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s two-part interview with Piers Morgan. The forward criticised the club, the management, the young players in the team and the board.

And by the looks of things, his time at Manchester United has been brought to a screeching halt. It is very unlikely that he will play for the Red Devils again, and will possibly be sold, or let go of, during the January transfer window itself.

Manchester United have begun process of taking action against Cristiano Ronaldo

“Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion,” the official statement from the club read.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it seems only a matter of time before he is asked not to come to Carrington training ground again. Moreover, it remains to be seen if any club in the last 16 of the Champions League will sign him during the January transfer window.

As of now, the 37-year-old is preparing to captain Portugal into his fifth World Cup in Qatar. After the spectacle in the Middle East is done with, we will learn about the club future of the striker.

Qatar reportedly paid $7.4 million to 8 Ecuadorian footballers to lose the 2022 FIFA World Cup opening match

0

On Sunday, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 officially begins. Additionally, several allegations and conjectures are circulating two days before the opening ceremony in Doha that the host country of Qatar attempted to bribe its competitor, Ecuador.

It hasn’t been a great buildup to the biggest football event taking place in a country with a terrible human rights record. These accusations of match-fixing are the absolute last thing that the top football organization in the world needs right now.

Qatar Bribing Ecuador Players to Lose

The regional director of the British Center for Middle East Studies asserted that Qatar paid eight Ecuadorian players $7.4 million to lose the 2022 FIFA World Cup opening match.

On November 20 at the Al Bayt stadium, the tournament will kick off with a match between Qatar and Ecuador. This grave charge surfaced before the fixture. Felix Sanchez will serve as Qatar’s manager when they enter the 2022 FIFA World Cup rated No. 50 in the world.

Ecuador is currently ranked No. 44 in the world, in contrast. The team is led by Gustavo Alfaro. On the Ecuadorian team, Moises Caicedo and Enner Valencia are two of the most notable players.

Nevertheless, Marc Owen Jones later disputed Taha’s assertion. Jones is an adjunct professor at Haman Bin Khalifa University in Qatar. He claims Taha is a dishonest source who willfully spreads erroneous information.

No one has so far independently corroborated Taha’s claims. Front Office Sports asserts that FIFA is growing increasingly concerned about match-fixing and projects that there will be over $100 billion in wagers on the event.
